Who Are They?

Reviled. Respected. The Warden has been condemned and upheld since the order was first made centuries ago. Yet one thing has always been constant: The Warden is feared.

After the War of the Ancients the elder sentinel Maeiv Shadowsong was tasked with guarding the demonic Illidan. Burdened with a task far beyond even her own skills, the newly created Warden taught her skills and abilities to a select group of Night Elves who swore to aid her cause. As the years progressed the Warden ranks swelled, with the Night Elves passing their knowledge and skills from Warden to Warden.

A Warden is an enemy of evil, a being dedicated to justice and maintaining order and civilization. Gifted with advanced knowledge in combat an powerful weapons and armor the Warden is a perfect tool to hunt down criminals and met out justice.

They are single minded and consumed, more a living idea then a living creature. They are the embodiment of vengeance for their culture and people and consumed with the singular idea of protecting the Night Elven culture and, as a whole, all of Azeroth from harm.

An ancient race, most old Wardens have remained in Darnassus. Yet as the Third War has created a need for more heroes, old Wardens have begun to educate a new race to go out into the world to hunt down evil and distribute justice.

Who Likes Them?

Wardens are revered in Night Elf culture. They are considered the height of Night Elven military, possessing skills and knowledge that put them above most Sentinels.

All other races view them with a mixture of ambivalence and modest respect. Relatively a mystery to outsiders, Alliance and Horde races respect only their feats of skills and combat prowess.

Weaknesses

  • Stringy

Warden's training focuses on agility over strength. They lose their musculature, making them weaker than most.

Training Outline

A current Warden must select an aspirant for training. The aspirant must embody the ideals of a Warden: Strength of spirit, dedication to training and a consummate, crippling hunger for justice. Once an aspirant demonstrates these abilities then they will be approached by a Warden with the offer to train beneath them.

Training takes from half a year to a full year of effort. Training begins with one on one sparring, where the Warden teaches the Aspirant the use of his or her Moon Sword and cloak.

When the aspirant has honed their skills with their equipment they are taught how to hone the magic of the Wardens. Wardens wield a form of Holy magic based on Elune and their conviction towards justice and virtue. These spells allow them to move with unnatural speed, leap great distances, imbue their weaponry with special powers and perform feats normally believed impossible.

After they have honed their combat power the Aspirant is tasked with retrieving their equipment. The Aspirant must collect two pieces: A Warden's Armor and a Warden's Moon Sword. They can either be found on battlefields and in the possession of demons and evil creatures who have, in the past, slain Wardens or given by a current Warden once they have been bested or suitably impressed through a trial or mission.

With weapon and cloak the Warden is initiated into the Warden order and sent out into the world to met out justice and deliver retribution.
