Who Are They?

The Beastmasters are the ones who have formed an inseperable bond with animals, and they mimic the fighting style of many beasts they have encountered. They may become swift and deadly accurate like a snake or become as destructive and powerful as a bear. But they do not focus solely on combat in contrast to the Primal, and don't descend to such levels of ferality, as many have assumed. Noble, yet savage, they can often be seen travelling with incredibly loyal animal companions outside in the wilderness rather than the civilised world. But should the need arise for them to enter society, they will not resent the idea.

As time passes and their connection with animals strengthens, they will grow fangs, claws and horns. They will be able to improve the attitude of any animal and commune with them.

Who Likes Them?

Anyone who likes nature and animals will like the Beastmaster. So far, the only people who have earned any real dislike are the industries who deforrest nature or people who slay animals for sport. Other than that, they are welcome in societies (even if in places like Stormwind they'll get a funny look).

Strengths

  • With their animal companions, they make a fierce pair and fight alongside each other side by side as if they were one. They do not even speak yet they seem to know what their partner will do.
  • They gain their strength from the mimicry of wild beasts. Whilst they don't merge, through taking on their fighting styles they become talented warriors, but only when their beast pet with them.

Weaknesses

  • The Beastmaster's fighting skill suffers without the presence of animal companions. They are made to fight with animals, not on their own.

Skills and Abilities

Note
Note: It should be stressed that Beastmasters do not suddenly become feral. They won't drop to all fours and fight like animals. This sort of thing is left to the Primalists of the Warcraft universe.

  • They may call upon beasts of the wild to aid them as long as they are within hearing range. But only the truly exceptional beastmasters are able to call upon multiple groups of animals.
  • Animals will not harm them unless provoked. A Beastmaster could casually stride through a pack of feasting lions to find they'd barely bat an eyelid.

Training Outline

The Beastmaster isn't a class that needs guidance from a master, though it could perhaps be easier on them if there was one. Regardless, the Beastmaster will have to spend much of his time observing as many beasts as he can. As they trek across many wilds and jungles they will have to make sure they're not hunting down and killing the animal they plan to investigate, as this may cause future issues. This will often take weeks to do, as there isn't every type of wildlife in a single area, and who's to say they don't get other interruptions as well?

Once they have observed for long enough, they will have to earn the respect of the animal(s) through communicating with them if possible and mimicing their behaviour. If the animal is part of a pack, they must gain acceptance within the pack and prove themselves as an ally. With some animals this may not be possible, and instead of getting respect from them, they may have to do the opposite and practice fighting them with the animal's own style. Or alternatively, simply befriend them, but not as a pet.

Days or weeks will be spent not on not only connecting with their companions, but also in meditation as they attempt to connect with animals on a much deeper level. In this time they'll slowly be gaining their appendages - fangs, claws and horns. Naturally they will assist them in their fighting in future events. When they have fully grown, they can be labelled as an accomplished Beastmaster. They've fully bonded with animals and can even call upon their aid if they are within hearing range, and almost every animal will view them as an ally unless provoked.

Active Beastmasters

Currently there are no active Beastmasters, so any applicants would have to create an NPC for the training.
