Who Are They?

Savagekin have all but committed themselves to the exile from civilisation as they know it in order to form a physical connection with nature rarely surpassed by any others. Some may call the Savagekin to be feral beings, simply Druids who have lost their minds to the wilds, but others may believe them to be saints who have given their body and life to the will and call of nature.

These Druids find themselves to remain almost constantly within their animal forms and as time passes, returning to a humanoid becomes a much more difficult feat. Forever are they fighting with the feral beast inside of them so they would not lose their mind to it, keeping that last shred of humanity as it is the only thing keeping them from becoming an animal themselves.

Who Likes Them?

Rarely anyone enjoys the company of the Savagekin but the animals themselves. Many people do not like them. Wise Druids would view them as children gone feral and many others would simply see them as a savage beast.

Strengths

  • Animalistic Strength

Based on their animal, they would be able to wield enhanced strength capabilities due to their stronger form.

  • Animalistic Senses

Their sight becomes keener, their noses pick up more smells and their ears pick up the slightest of sounds in the forest.

  • Animalistic Agility

A Savagekin's speed is drastically enhanced upon giving themselves into the form of a beast, it being a natural form for them and thus, having much more mobility with it than another Druid would.

Weaknesses

  • Feral

Savagekin are loose cannons, should something anger them even the slightest they can easily snap and delve deep into their beastly urges to rend, tear and maul.

  • Forever Alone

Returning to their humanoid form is a very difficult and draining task, doing so in the final stages of the Savagekin training is a task rarely chosen to be undertaken.

  • Beast

In the eyes of others, a Savagekin is simply a beast and would not be allowed to enter a town after completing their training.

Skills and Abilities

  • Humanoid Form

Savagekin are locked inside of the form of an animal and thus, they require the ability to return to their original form every now and then. This is a tough ability to channel and does not last very long at all.

  • Animal Speech

They have the ability to speak to every animal as if they were able to communicate clearly with them as they would prior another of their own race.

  • Humanoid Speech

Although difficult, a Savagekin may retrain the ability to speak to another humanoid. Using their animal's anatomy in this manner is stressful and such an act isn't recommended for long sentences.

Training Outline

Whilst some may believe the path to becoming a true Savagekin simply involves losing ones control over their ability to retain their humanity, this is but the tip of the iceberg.

In order to truly delve into the aspects of a Savagekin, the Druid in question must understand a few things. They need to understand the sacrifice they will be making, their loss of humanity and connection with civilisation as they know it and they also need to understand that no one will ever look upon them as anything more than a feral animal whom belongs in the wild. Doubt caused by these thoughts would only hinder the process of turning a large majority of the Savagekin's humanity over to the omnipotent presence of nature.

Once they decide to take the plunge into insanity, they are ready to commit themselves to their cause. Doing so, they enter the Emerald Dream once again but this time, not as a wise watcher, but as an inhabitant of the Dream themselves. Here they come across some rather difficult obstacles, should they be found by a Druid sleeping in the Dream they have the potential to be removed for their own safety or, with the recent threat of the Emerald Nightmare, they can be found being consumed by it themselves, falling into an eternal sleep.

During their time in the Dream, their main goals are to both strengthen their bonds with nature and to enhance their connection with their selected totem. This can be as simple as living the life of a sleepy bear to soaring the skies with a flock of majestic birds. But, the amount of time becoming one with their totem depends solely on their faith in being able to secure such a relationship that it will not break or falter over time during the time they retain little of their prior humanity left. Whilst this in itself may not be difficult, it is essential to avoid losing ones mind to the animal side of themselves.

Upon awakening from their slumber, they would find themselves with their new-found ability, locked in their animal form. The Savagekin would at first find themselves unable to return to a humanoid form, remaining as a beast, eating, living and thinking like one of the animals they chose to protect. During this time all they can do is observe the land around them, unable to communicate with others or show that they are, in fact, who they truly are and not a feral animal found in the forests. While tough times, these give way for new abilities to form. The ability to speak to a lesser degree is learned and, over time, one regains the laborious ability to return to a humanoid very temporarily.

They are then one with the wild.

Active Savagekin

Currently there are no active Savagekin, so any applicants would have to create an NPC for the training.
