Who Are They?

A Fel-Sworn is a person who has been, whether willingly or unwillingly, exposed to massive amounts of Fel energy. This exposure grants them a corruptive, dangerous form of power that forms a physical addiction in the imbiber. As the person succumbs to their addiction they will seek out more and more of the corrosive energy to sate their hunger. Eventually they will stumble upon greatest source of the energy, pure demon blood. To secure the necessary amounts of blood the person is required to enter into a contract with a demon of the Burning Legion. It is this contract that bonds the person to the Legion's will and mutates them.

Yet a Fel-Sworn is a varied title, encompassing two distinct creatures: The strong, heavily mutated Burning Legionnaires and the agile, magically adept Diabolists. Both possess certain powers and abilities that, along with their new mutated bodies, make them powerful tools of the Legion's will.

Who Likes Them?

No one.

A Fel-Sworn is at odds with all of Azeroth. They are, for all intensive purposes, demons. Night Elves and Tauren are sickened by their very presence. Humans and Orcs hate them for their betrayal of all things good. Dwarves and others hate them because...Well, they are demons.

Some of the more vile persuasion may respect them for their skills and powers. Warlocks and shadow Priests especially can understand the power and level of skill required to be a Fel-Sworn.

Strengths

  • Fel Strength

Fel has increased either their physical strength (Warrior/DK/Paladin/etc. etc.) or their dexterity (Rogue), granting them bonuses when either attacking or dodging respectively.

  • Mutations

Fel has given them horns, hooves, teeth, claws and increased their size. Their new additions are considered natural weapons and, when used, cause Fel Corruption.

  • Flight

A Legionnaire can use their wings to fly through the air.

  • Thick Hide

A Legionnaire's thick hide can turn away most physical attacks. The hide grants them increased health points. The thick hide also allows them to walk through natural, non-magical flames.

  • Fel Resistance

A Legionnaire gains high resistance to Fel spells.

  • Shadow Resistance

A Legionnaire gains high resistance to Shadow spells.

Weaknesses

  • Evil Outsider

Holy magic pains a Burning Legionnaire considerably. In addition, they count as demons for the purposes of any spell that specifically targets, or gets bonuses against, such creatures.

  • Horrifying Visage

Their demonic visage prevents them from entering into most lawful settlements, since they are now considered enemies to all of Azeroth.

  • Fel Madness

Fel has driven them to think dark thoughts. As you progress through your training your allegiances will move three points downward. If you were Lawful Good you will become Neutral Good and then Chaotic Good before finally becoming Lawful Neutral

  • Past Life

Weaknesses from their past classes carry over to the Legionnaire.

  • Fel Aura

The Legionnaire continually releases a powerful demonic aura. This aura can be sensed passively by Demon Hunters, other Fel-Sworn, and Warlocks. Night Elves and Tauren can smell the fel given off, but cannot determine the exact cause.

  • Slow

Unless a Legionnaire is stealth-based, they are slow and receive no bonuses to their defense rolls.

  • Demon

When a Legionnaire has been suitably weakened a Warlock may, using Eredun, command them to leave. The Legionnaire will be forced to flee the fight.

Skills and Abilities

  • Chaos Blade

The Legionnaire coats their blade in entropic green Chaos energy. The blade can now rend apart magical shields and defenses. The energy gives no bonus to damage dealt.

  • Vile Rush

Using their wings and powerful feet the Legionnaire rushes at a target in an attempt to knock them down or back. The rush covers a moderate distance quickly.

  • Demonic Deception

The Legionnaire guises themselves in Shadow, transforming their appearance and voice to that of any race they so wish. The spell takes fifteen minutes out of combat to cast and lasts two hours. While transformed the Legionnaire still radiates Fel that can be sensed by Fel-sensitive races and classes. While transformed their powers are focused on maintaining the guise, thusly preventing them from using any spells or combat abilities until their guise is dropped.

  • Void Crossing

Out of combat the Legionnaire can erect a portal that allows them to teleport to any location they have previously visited. This portal takes fifteen minutes to prepare, with the Legionnaires needing to etch runes into a hard surface beneath them. The runes open up a twisting green hole into the Nether. Only Legionnaires can pass through the portal unharmed, with others going through severely exhausted or moderately burned by the process. After the Legionnaire passes through the portal closes, leaving a charred patch of earth.

  • Tremble

The Legionnaire beats the ground with their hooves. The ground darkens in the surrounding area, the earth shaking and green fire erupting from below.

  • Necrotic Bolt

The Legionnaire lobs a ranged bolt of corruptive energy at a target, causing the area struck to wither and become dead.

  • Agony Touch

The Legionnaire attempts to lay hands upon the target, randomly crippling a limb and impairing their next attack roll by a small number. Deals damage as well.

  • Metamorphosis

The Legionnaire channels the power of the Legion into them, Fel mutating them into a full demon. As a full demon, they gain bonuses to physical attack rolls. This lasts for (/roll 5) turns. A turn is whenever the Legionnaire must roll to attack.

Note
Note: When a Legionnaire is killed their spirit and body return to the Twisting Nether. It takes a week to re-form before they re-appear in Azeroth. They suffer the same physical drawbacks as normal resurrection. A Legionnaire retains all their class skills that they had before, unless their class was Paladin, Druid, Holy Light Priest or Shaman. Because of Fel they will lose all of their connection with the Elements and the Holy Light. Thusly, a Paladin will become a Warrior and a Druid/Priest/Shaman a Warlock.

Training Outline

Training to be a Fel-Sworn is a long, tiring process that challenges the body, the mind and the resolve.

First one must acquire the need for Fel-Blood. It can either be simply a desire to want power and choosing Fel-Blood as that source. It can also be the cause of un-intentional fel addiction. Being wounded by a powerful demon, suffering from a powerful demon's spell, accidentally ingesting blood, being hit with a weapon tipped with Fel Blood…All can cause Fel Addiction. Normally Fel Addiction can be managed. Yet if your character succumbs, then they will already be down the path to becoming a Fel-Sworn.

After acquiring a taste for blood one must secure a steady source to sate their hunger. This usually involves finding a demon and entering into a contract with them. The process of securing a demon requires getting something they will desire. An artifact, a tome, a collection of souls, a mark of supplication, a specific ritual…Calling a demon requires research and effort.

Once summoned. you will have to beg the demon to enter into the contract with you. They will offer you blood in exchange for loyalty and certain tasks they need done. The demons will test your resolve and dedication to the Legion by forcing you to kill people, harvest souls and eliminate enemies. For each task done the demon will sate your addiction to blood and train you in your craft. As your body mutates you will shun society more and more, going away from friends and relatives to spend longer periods with your new master. In the end you will forsake society completely as you become the demon's willing servant.

It will take five weeks for the mutations to set in, with each week your condition getting increasingly worse. As your body takes in more energy you will begin to change.

During the first week of heavy consumption you will begin to see slight mutations. Your skin will pale and red rings will form around your eyes. You will have a constant fever. You will sweat profusely. Your lips will become cracked and dry. The veins in your eyes will begin to turn slightly green. You will feel muscle cramps.

During the second week your body will begin to reject that which once gave you comfort. You will sleep less. Your body temperature will begin to increase. You will have trouble keeping down food and drink, growing violently ill if you eat any more then what you need to survive. Your skin will begin to darken and your eyes will now completely be streaked with green veins. You will shake. Your muscle mass will either grow or shrink, depending on if you are a rogue or a fighter.

During the third week you will notice the first few mutations. The flesh of your fingers will begin to peel away as claw form. Your eyes will now be almost completely streaked with green. Your skull will protrude as horns form. Your skin will begin to blister and pop as scales push out from beneath. Your muscles will begin to swell or become more toned and lithe, depending on if you are a rogue or a warrior.

During the fourth week you will need to remain away from civilization. You now have glowing green eyes and a hideously deformed body. Wings are beginning to form along with spikes and horns. Your claws have been fully extended and you begin to grow fangs. You no longer sleep, eat or drink. Your body is now completely sustained by Fel energy. Your muscle mass has increased two fold or your limbs have become long and dexterous.

At the fifth week your mutations have been completely. You now have a demonic form, complete with fangs, horns, tails, claws and the like. Your skin is now naturally scabrous. If you are a fighting-based class your muscles will have swollen to three times their natural state. If you are a stealth class you will have lost half of your body weight, becoming an agile, emaciated wraith of your former self.

Active Burning Legionnaires

Currently there are no active Burning Legionnaires, so any applicants would have to create an NPC for the training.
