Who Are They?

The Far Seers are an elite group of ancient orcs who represent the pinnacle of shamanistic power. These powerful shamans, who preside over matters mystical for the Horde, are counted amongst Thrall's closest advisers and are constantly in tune with the workings and maneuverings of the Horde. Far Seers are not only tied to the elements of the earth and sky, but are also adept at foretelling the future. Their wisdom is outshined only by their courage and ferocity in combat. When the enemies of the horde advance, the Far Seers mount their loyal dire wolves and wade into battle wielding all the elemental powers of their shamanistic birthright.

Far Seers are some of the most respected shaman in the Horde. Most of them ride great white wolves to battle — some say this practice is in homage of the Frostwolf clan, of which Thrall was the chieftain before he united the Horde. The Far Seer is not a dedicated battlefield mage; however, the guidance provided by his visionary powers can prove to be more valuable than a dozen skilled warriors. In combat, a far seer prefers to sit back and summon spirits to do his bidding, but if he's pressed into melee, he can be a formidable adversary.

Though the Far Seers were thought to be an orcish tradition, it appears that all highly accomplished Shaman can become a Far Seer.

Who Likes Them?

A Far Seer is highly revered within the shamanistic Horde, given that they are the elders and leaders of their people. They would most likely be hailed in places such as Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff as well as Exodar for the Draenei. On the other side of the spectrum, Far Seers would probably hold little to no importance in places such as The Undercity, Silvermoon City, or Stormwind City.

Training

Requirements

Strengths

  • Far Seers are powerful shaman, more so than a Spirit Walker or Champion, thus their ability to control the elements far surpasses those of a normal shaman.
  • Far Seers are held with high regards within the Shamanistic Horde and would be revered as a hero in places such as Orgrimmar.
  • With the Spirits at their command, a Far Seer gains the ability to summon a Spirit Wolf to stay by their side at any given moment.

Weaknesses

  • Because of a Far Seer's ability to see into the future, they are constantly wrecked by visions of what is to come. This begins to have a negative effect on the Seer's mental state.
  • The Far Seer is loyal to the spirits. The use of Fel and Shadow robs them of their connection. Also, allowing any undeserved harm to fall upon a member of their race is seen as disrespect to their race. A Far Seer will have to re-connect with the spirits before they can use their abilities again.
  • Being such a strong caster, Far Seers are best off fighting at a range. They gain no physical resistance or physical bonuses when attacking using a weapon.
  • While the Far Seer has the ability to perform such a feat as to look into the future, the messages are usually very cryptic and are meant to cause a level of self-reflection.

Skills and Abilities

  • Earthquake

By calling upon the spirits of Earth, the Far Seer may cause the ground beneath the feet of their enemy tremble and break, causing them to lose their footing, and clearing or blocking paths with rubble.

  • Healing Rain

By calling upon the spirits of Water, the Far Seer may call down a gentle drizzle of rain, healing himself and his allies caught within the radius of the call. This can be done only once.

  • Summon Spirit Wolf

Summons a pair of spiritual companions to aid the Farseer in battle. These incorporeal beasts have heavy resistance against physical attempts on harming them but take double damage from magical spells.

  • Far Sight

With the assistance of using a camp fire or something similar to that, a Far Seer is able to view an area ahead of where they currently are in order to plan ahead or scout out an upcoming site. Is considered a form of scrying.

  • Divination

Calling on the spirits, a Far Seer can look up to an hour into the future. Most divinations are vague and open to interpretations. The future is not set and, by the simple act of glimpsing it, divination often alters the outcome of what is to come

  • Chain Lightning

Summons forth a powerful bolt of lightning which arcs forth over multiple enemies, losing power with each chain and damaging each it comes into contact with.

  • Flame Leviathan

Summons the spirits of fire to cover a weapon or fists. The weapon is then considered a magical weapon and causes magical burns on targets.

Training Outline

The Far Seer's training begins simply with a vision. Whether it be from a dream or an event, the vision usually centers around the Far Seer-to-be on a deep, personal level. This cryptic vision is born from ancestral spirits or the chaotic elements themselves and is a harbinger of the power the shaman is to inherent.

The Far Seer Aspirant is then either approached by a current Far Seer who is impressed by the Shaman's power or seeks out a Far Seer to be the teacher. No matter the method of interaction, the Far Seer teacher will test the young Shaman before taking them under their wing.

The Teacher will test both the Aspirant's humility to the spirits and the awesome power of nature and the Aspirant's pride in their clan, race and world. These tests are varied and are based around the interpretation of the meaning ‘pride' and ‘humility' of the teacher.

Once the teacher has been suitable impressed by the Aspirant they will begin to instruct them in the spells and rites necessary to commune with the spirits.

The Shamanism faith and its communion with the spirits is a vague and poorly-understood path. The next step of the Aspirant, where they get in touch with the spirits, is one open for interpretation. Communion with spirits can be accomplished through the imbibing of specially prepared potions, summoning them through rituals and acts, traveling to a place of high spiritual importance to your race and entreating them for audience or simply through meditation and self-control.

Once a connection with the spirits has been made the Far Seer will then instruct his pupil on how to channel their power and pay homage to them in their actions.

A demonstration or test is often administered at the end of the training by the Far Seer to see if the Aspirant has truly mastered the abilities and retains his grasp on the powers of the shamanism and the spirits.
