The Barrens

What used to be one huge, luscious oasis, when the Sundering tore the continent in half, its powerful energies laid waste to this place. Now renamed The Barrens, it sits there while its inhabitants live under the scorching sun. Primarily used by the Horde, the Alliance have also made a foundation on the dry earth, and even the Steamwheedle Cartel have found its place.

Friendly Forces

Alliance Crest Alliance

  • Northwatch Hold - A huge Alliance fortress stationed south of Ratchet, with a gang of pirates in between. It's purpose seems to be blocking Horde ships from reaching Theramore Isle, forcing them to have to trek the swamps in order to reach it.
  • Bael Modan - A huge Dwarven fortress, with a population of 800 people, has been built next to the biggest Dwarven dig site in all Kalimdor. Eager to unlock the secrets of the titans like most archaeologists, non-dwarves are not allowed to enter the titan ruins. However travellers are still welcome inside the fort and they offer good hospitality and meals for them. They're often prone to lots of attacks, but so far they've stood strong.

Horde Crest Horde

  • Camp Taurajo - A simple outpost situated just outside the pass leading to Mulgore.
  • The Crossroads - Rightfully named The Crossroads for it's access to other Horde settlements either by path or by wyvern. This is the largest Horde town in The Barrens.
  • The Mor'shan Rampart - One of the more forified outposts out of the many in the Barrens, this one guards the entrance to Ashenvale in the far northern Barrens.
  • Far Watch Post - An outpost stationed in at the entrance to the Barrens from Durotar. North of Ratchet.
  • Honor's Stand - An outpost stationed at the entrance to the Stonetalon Mountains from the Barrens. West of The Crossroads.

Neutral Crest Neutral

  • Ratchet - The HUGE port town of Ratchet brings in every type of person from nearly everywhere. Casinos, brothels, bars, markets, Ratchet has virtually everything that anyone would need. Run by the Steamwheedle Cartel however, it's also a dangerous place that you don't want to mess with, unless you want to be in a ditch covered in oil on fire.

Enemy Settlements

  • The Sludge Fen - An oil field that's being harvested by Venture Co. They won't hesitate to attack if they think an enemy's drawing near. North of Far Watch Post.
  • The Dry Hills - Littered with dozens upon dozens of harpies, they attack caravans and kidnap humanoid races for their own... needs. Taking down this near army of harpies would be no easy task. North-west of The Crossroads.
  • The Boulder Lode Mine
  • The Forgotten Pools - A small oasis patrolled by savage centaur, who, like all centaur, seek to kill every creature possible. The Horde never hesitate to kill them.
  • Lushwater Oasis - Another oasis that the centaur have claimed, but is also home to the Wailing Caverns. Located South-west of The Crossroads.
  • The Wailing Caverns - The Druid known as Naralex wished to use the underground springs to return fertility to the Barrens, however when he entered the Emerald Dream to siphon it's energies, he somehow became engulfed in the Nightmare. The previously docile creatures transformed into deadly predators and Naralex's disciples became corrupted, along with the water flowing in the caverns. Though they seem not to be a threat, as they currently lurk inside their cavern.
  • The Stagnant Oasis - Home to even more centaurs, but also some lost kodos who are weakened, thus easy prey for hunters. South-east of The Crossroads.
  • Thorn Hill - Wherever giant thorns protrude from the earth, the Quillboar are present. East of the Crossroads, they stand as a vexing problem for Horde caravans due to their large numbers.
  • Agama'gor - Another settlement where large numbers of quillboar lurk. They're also known for carrying large numbers of blood shards, which are crimsom gems rumoured to have formed from the Quillboar's demigod Agamaggan's fallen blood. North of Camp Taurajo.
  • Field Of Giants - Strangely now filled with Silithid hives, their sudden appearance raises some concern to those nearby. South of Camp Taurajo.
  • Blackthorn Ridge - Another place where a lot of quillboar have settled to. Nothing worth noting in particular. West of Bael Modan.
