The People, and the People Alone

Are the Force that Makes World History

Who are we?

”We are the Commoner's Party…”

“We are the farmers. We are the miners. We are the blacksmiths and the artists and guards and innkeepers. We are your neighbors, your parents, your friends. We are the commoners. We are dwarves and elves, humans and gnomes. We are an intangible dream, the fantasy that one day miners may work without fear of monsters. That one day we can travel the roads without fear of bandits. That one day we can live our lives without fear of danger, want or famine.

We want to bring back law to the lawless human lands. We will open up the mines and allow work to continue once more. We will protect the roads and allow the caravans to travel them safely. We will push back borders and zones and allow the march of progress to flow unimpeded. We, the people of the Commoner's Party, owe our loyalty to the common man and woman. We will never rest, never slow, never tarry until the shadow that lords over all our lives is only a fading dream. ”

General Information

Name: The Commoner's Party
Faction: Alliance
Guild style: Political/Military
Current Leader(s): John Williams and Valira Echart von Rosenstiel
Reading Material: The Commoner's Manifesto

The Organization

We are, to condense, a political guild. We hold rallies, make speeches, engage in fundraisers, amass a standing army, engage in political deceit and generally do all of the fun things that come with founding, running and maintain a political machine. We are not a Racial Guild: So long as your character is Alliance and interested in joining the cause and helping the Party's mission then they may become Card Carrying Members of the Commoner's Party.

Party Members

As said above, we are a political organization. ‘The Party' as we call ourselves is divided into two categories: The Special Forces and the Administrative.

The Administrators are the leaders of the group. They maintain order and work towards exerting more political control. They are the head of rallies, the maintainers of resources and the police-makers. They are the face and mind of the Party.

If the Administrators are the Mind then the Special Forces are the Muscle. For every political promise and vow that the Administrator's make the soldiers are out on the front lines, making it so with blood, sweat and steel. They are well trained, morally just and outfitted with the best weapons the Party can provide. They are a well fed, well regulated and well paid fighting machine.

Our History

An excerpt from an interview with Valira von Rosenstiel:

“The Commoner's Party began, as with most things, humbly and without pomp.

I remember I met John Williams in Stormwind on my fist day in the city. He was clean shaven and articulate, a refreshing twist to the country bumpkins who I had lived with for so much of my life. And whether it was by virtue of my dress or my gender he asked for me to come along to a meeting he was holding. Ever the naïve creature I obliged, mostly out of curiosity and partly out of restlessness.

The meeting was in the Pig N' Whistle in Stormwind's Old Town. The Party had only four members back then: Ahdulan, Mickey, John and myself. It was there, between sips of flaccid tea and bites of moldy pastries that the idea was pitched. John was planning on running for Marshall of Elwynn in the upcoming democratic election. He promised to restore law and civility back to the people of Elwynn, opening the mines and farms and pushing the Defias back. All he needed was support. I and the rest obliged the request, promising our support in the upcoming election. Only, of course, if I could come on as his personal assistant.

The next few months went along quickly. We started simply enough, recruiting mostly friends and acquaintances. In turn they asked their own circle of friends and those in turn asked their own and so on and so force. It wasn't very long until our numbers had swelled to the point where we were, in both name and actuality, a political party. We began to marshal and, working out of the Pig N' Whistle, we delivered speeches and organized rallies. By the fourth month the Party resembled nothing of what it did on that first day. Through sweet and tears I had climbed to the rank of Vice Chairman, heading the political division with my guards Mertice and Clovis. We had moved our operations to Elwynn by that time, setting up shop in the second floor of the inn. We were skirmishing with the Defias by then, training an army of over fifty men and women out of Eastvale. It wasn't long before we launched ourselves at the Fargodeep Mine and began work pushing back the kobold's within.''

It's been a long road that we have taken. We stumbled once. But no matter if the steps falter they shall continue. Ahdulan, Clovis, Mertice, Ellyn, John…And so many other supporters and soldiers. So many friendly faces that I saw in the Commoner's Party.”

Commoner's Party Rankings

  • The Chairman:

Beloved leaders of The Commoner's Party, with them it stands or falls. Yet despite their lofty positions the join chairmen of the party are as common as any other. Their actions are one everyone can understand and their words are the ones we follow.

  • Vice Chairman:

The Vice Chairman is the assistant to the join chairmen, the second in command who wields the highest degree of power. Cunning, charismatic and organized they are un-rivaled leaders among the Commoner's force.

  • High General:

The High General is the leader of the Special Forces. A brilliant tactician and leader of men, the High General listens only to their reason and the Chairmen above them.

  • Secretaries:

Secretaries are the bindings that hold the Party together. They fill the political ranks, serving as the mental muscle behind the Party's day-to-day operations. They organize fundraisers, deliver orders and offer their specific, non-combat oriented services for the benefit of the Party.

  • Officers:

One step above the soldiers is the officers. Distinguished for their ability to lead in all capacities and their loyalty to the cause, the officers of the Commoner's Party lead the Special Forces into battle. Brave, committed and capable the officer's branch is an elite group within the Party.

  • Soldiers:

The soldiers, men and female alike, are the engine of the Party. Their muscles is the power, their sweat the fuel, their incessant toil driving the Party forward. These are the common men and women, bonded by a shared purpose and goal. They are the rank and file who serve in the Party's Special Forces branch.

Events

What, you may ask, does this guild do? Why do I want to be a part of the cause?

A common male soldier wearing The Party's standard military gear.

Roll-Style Combat

Heroism, Teamwork, Gritty Combat! The tenants that made Word of Warcraft popular have been butchered, packaged and condensed into these events. Participants will work together in small bands to combat evil wherever the Party sends htem.

The biggest events we have are Roll-based combat encounters. We go out about three times a week into the zone of our current interest to fight a few enemies. The reasons and enemies will vary from interaction to interaction, but a few things will remain the same: The events will be closely DMed by a guild leader and that all people, guild members or otherwise, are allowed to participate.

Members will be given HP, Special Abilities and over-all sets of rules before each event. Events will last usually two hours and can have between four and ten people participating.

Rally

While we are, more than anything, a military guild we are still heavily political. And as such we must feed our voracious political beasts with Rallies.

The rallies come more infrequently then the Roll Combat Events, often one or so a week. They can be as simple as a little speech in a crowded place to a complex fund raiser.
They are often peppered with bits of intrigue, from assassinations to espionage to public relation ploys. They will be announced days in advanced and will be open for guild members and non-guild members alike to attend.

Side-Projects

The Commoner's Party prides itself for its variety of activities. As such it is open to doing quite possibly anything and everything. Side projects, as such, serve as a blanket term to describe all the side projects –legal or otherwise- the Party can and will engage in. Anything can be done if a member suggests it and makes a convincing case: Making a Newspapers, sending a Diplomatic envoy to another organization, travel trips, starting a homeless shelter...

If it interests you and it can help further the Party's goal then we'll shell out money…Probably!

Rules and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Party is a political and military organization. As such, we have a clearly established chain of command. You are expected to follow it. Issues should most likely be presented to your most immediate superior; as we require a certain level of discipline. If you fail to abide this discipline, disciplinary measures will be taken which are not limited to punishments, court marshals, and even dismissal. You will treat superiors -- officers or not -- with the respect that their rank deserves.

What you do in your own time is your business. The Party will not follow how you spend your free time -- or with whom you spend it. If you become friends with another member or forge a relationship, we won't care as long as you are capable of not allowing it to cloud your judgement, respect or The Party's mission. If this becomes an issue, steps may be taken to rectify the situation.

Questions and Answers

  • How can you have a fun RP with just politics?

How can you have fun RP with assassination attempts, political subterfuge, covert missions, slander, threats of death, spheres of influence, world-influencing activity and military action? Effortlessly.

  • Are you just going to disappear after a few weeks?

Activity is the lifeblood of a guild. A guild without events, no matter how insignificant, isn't a guild; It is delusional fantasies. Activity is prided above all else at the Commoner's Party.

  • Are you an evil guild?

We are a political guild. Our goals are good. It's the execution where we sometimes falter. Sometimes we are greedy. Other times we are giving. Sometimes we are cool. Other times we are gentle. We are only humanoid, after all.
