Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: When dressed casually, he sticks to a fine pair of pants, gloves, and books he wore before he died. When in his armor, he wears a heavy layer of saronite plate, a black hood, and his runeblades at his sides. He tends to dress simplistically, regardless of the situation.

Other: His skin has turned dark from his body being preserved by a necromancer. Black tattoos line his torso and arms. The tattoos are almost always exposed. His face shows youth, but the sagging and damaged skin makes him appear older than he really is.

Personality

Alignment: True Neutral

Greatly lacking in emotions, he tends to take things very literally. Figures of speech tend to go over his head with ease. When told to do something, he will generally do it exactly as spoken down to the proper punctuation. He can become confused by trivial things living people may do, such as getting upset, laughing, crying, and various other things. He rarely remembers his past, and thinking about it annoys him greatly.

Conversations tend to go nowhere with Kirolan. When trying to start a conversation, he will simply blurt out random facts in hopes someone will take interest. This rarely goes well and he tends to be rejected for such. What few emotions he has he expresses physically. Annoyance, his most commonly expressed and felt emotion, showing through either as smacking himself in the face or ears going back.

He remains indifferent on very many things, lacking the ability to care either which way things go. As opposed to making decisions, he would prefer to either take orders or stand back and watch events play out. How he picks sides tends to show whoever could be more demanding in voice or would bring less physical harm to himself. Even if he feels no pain, he knows it is possible for him to die once more, and he will avoid another death at all costs.

Before he died he was a very headstrong individual, rarely backing down from whatever he was pursuing. Those who have known him when he was alive would not recognize him by how he acted now.

Kirolan's many in game appearances.

History

Born to a middle class family, Kirolan had a fairly normal childhood. When he was of age, he took to schooling like many other young Quel'dorei of the day, toiling away with studies to become a proper member of society. He excelled in school, staying near top of the class. He kept a small job as an alchemist to keep income for himself when he moved away from his parents to live in the city. When he was around 50, he began studying the arcane in hopes of becoming a battlemage.

He had earned enough to return to school to focus on learning the arcane arts. He followed the teachings of his mentor closely, wanting to be the top of his class. He became close friends with his mentor Exarion Faersong during the first few years under his study. Regardless of his determination, he did not do as well in studying the arcane as he had hoped. Not wanting to leave his mentor behind and wasting years of work, he began studying what else Exarion had to offer. Painting. He had only done minor sketching in the past, not thinking he could get very far with his talent. He excelled further in the art classes than he did with the arcane and slowly became closer with his mentor.

After nearly 50 years under Exarion's teaching, they had become quite close. Kirolan disregarded Exarion's marital status and the two began having a silent affair for many years. In order to keep the affair a secret, Kirolan left Exarion's studies to focus more on his job as an alchemist, and now a painter. His new found profession brought in quite the extra income. He gave the excess to his parents who still lived quietly out in Eversong. He did work as he needed to and lived a generally quiet life. He fought in the Second War with his small knowledge of the arcane. When the Scourge came through, Kirolan was not far from the gates of the city, working on a commissioned painting with Exarion. He quickly left behind his supplies to flee the oncoming attack with his mentor.

The withdrawals from the lack of magic caused the two to become quite careless with their secret affair. Once fel was introduced, Kirolan took to it quickly, his eyes changing from blue to green. Exarion's wife slowly began to grow suspicious when the two had spent more time together. In a fit of rage, she stabbed Kirolan in the back when she had found him and Exarion together. Distraught over the loss, Exarion exacted his revenge on his wife and killed her in a similar manner. Kirolan's mentor became bitter and reclusive. He began studying necromancy in hopes of bringing Kirolan back.

Exarion preserved Kirolan's body, the deceased elf's skin turning dark from the magic at work. The corpse was hidden away in Exarion's small home in the Ghostlands. One day while Exarion was away studying, the lingering Scourge along the dead scar took Kirolan's body in hopes of producing another Death Knight in service to the Lich King. He was raised as one of many mindless Death Knights once his body had found its way to the Eastern Plaguelands. He wordlessly obeyed all commands thrown at him, preparing and training to aid in the siege at Light's Hope. Towards the end of his trials, he slowly started to become aware of who he was and regain his identity. He no longer felt the need to listen to the Lich King, like many of the other Knights who had regained their senses and broke free of the Lich's grasp, turned to take back Acherus. Even with freedom from the Lich King, he was by majority still mindless. With no memory of his past, he tended to sit alone to try and figure out who he was, where he was, and why he was there.

The process was slow as he tried to piece together who exactly he was. He idled around Acherus, aiding in basic jobs to keep the Ebon Hold in order. It would have been painfully slow if he were aware of how long he had spent. The years seemed to be only minutes as he regained his name and enough memories to return to his people. He drifted about idly through his homelands, sketching random buildings, statues, animals, and people. He now tries to remember more of who he was while looking for the people whose faces are stuck in his memory with no names or voices to them. He knows not if those people are alive, dead, or are even real. He only knows he must try to find them if he wishes to learn who he was.

Skills and Abilities

He possesses the basic abilities any Death Knight would have, as well as additional abilities for those focused on Blood runes. He has a great proficiency in sword fighting as well as painting. His greatest skill may be painting, but he will frequently sketch random people, animals, or objects. He is a skilled harp player and will occasionally hum tunes he plays when he has nothing better to do.
