Information on Death Knights
The Death Knight is the name of a class shared by two separate organizations of powerful necromancers. These orders share a few things in common, including riding horses with horned skulls and many of the same abilities. There have been three types of death knights within the Warcraft universe:
- First Generation: Death Knights of the old Horde
- Second Generation: Death Knights of the Scourge
- Third Generation: Death Knights of Today
Third Generation Death Knights
The third generation of death knights were part of a collaborated effort on the part of the Lich King to bolster Acherus: The Ebon Hold's legions before marching on New Avalon. However, these death knights only constituted a portion of the death knights under the Lich King's command. Knights of the Ebon Blade had the unique opportunity to assist in the culling of the Scarlet Crusade from the Plaguelands.
In the Wrath of the Lich King expansion the death knights are freed from the will of the Lich King and ally themselves with their respective, former factions. Working closely under the guiding blade of Highlord Darion Mograine and the bolstered Argent Crusade, these freed death knights have begun their march to Northrend.
These so-called third generation death knights are a new class mirroring their previous incarnations. While boasting powerful melee abilities, as well as plate armor, these warriors supplement their strength with dark magic. Calling upon a rune system of magic, the death knight may summon unholy, blood, and frost spells.
Players are only able to claim that they are third generation death knights. Profiles bearing anything else will most likely result in immediate rejection.
Death Knights on Conquest of the Horde
In the past, any member of Conquest of the Horde was able to claim any title -- including the death knight. This was the most commonly claimed title and the one most commonly abused, to the point where few people wanted to interact with anyone bearing the title. As a result, the Death Knight title is not currently claimable by the Peon rank.
To play a death knight, you must attain the rank of Grunt and have a character that has leveled to 55 or beyond. This will allow you to roll a death knight on the server. This is the only requirement of the class. Profiles of accepted death knight characters can be found in the Death Knight category.
Level Cap
The current level cap for death knights is 65. This should be enough to allow them to complete the Archerus questline. Any death knight that levels beyond level 65 will find itself locked until that character's profile has been submitted for review and subsequently approved by the staff.
Death Knight profiles are no longer considered Special Profiles.
