Personality

Thaim is best described as someone who would rather sacrifice himself before he would let the rules be changed. When it comes to work within the Regiment he is very strict, demanding nothing less then total obedience, he will remain constant with an idea or plan to the point where he would be considered hard-headed.

On the other hand when off-duty at one of The Regiment's hangouts he is a very sociable dwarf, always open for a good conversation with the lower ranks as well as his officers. He is well know amongst his troops for the gallons of booze drunk everyday.

History

Thaim was born in the small town of Thelsamar on the west side of Loch Modan. Combat was nothing strange to him, the land at the time was still torn by the war of the three hammers and the land itself tended to rise up against the town. From a young age Thaim was trained using two medium-sized axes, usually forged by his own father. While his father toiled over the forge, his mother was an experienced huntsman. As a child growing up he was fascinated by the Stonewrought dam, and often spent his time in the areas surrounding the dam, never actually going in the dam until years later.

The Regiment

At the age of forty Thaim signed up as militia for the Stonewrought Dam, defending it from beasts such as trogs or the dark iron dwarfs. From there he continued his various combat trainings, becoming skilled not only with his two one-handed axes but also with a two-handed ax. Awhile after assuming the position of commander of the militia of Stonewrought, Thaim left the forces and perused a larger defense organization, The Regiment.

After witnessing a successful defense of Loch Modan from a large group of dark iron dwarfs by a company of The Regiment, Thaim was impressed. He had hoped to mean a bit more then just defending a dam and also, he believed that he could further his weapon skills in a large defense organization. By the time his application for recruitment was accepted and he had received his badge of duty, he was 80 years of age.

The Second War

By the time the Second War came around, Thaim had become a Brigadier, a second-in-command of The Regiment, only succeeded by General Koris Frirdon. In the second war The Regiment remained a defense force, defending the borders from the orcish assaults from the south.

The borders became almost impossible to defend. The orcs attacked more frequently and with greater force to the point where the dwarfs were forced to retreat from loch Modan and to hole themselves up in Ironforge. Even though they were not defending a lot of land, The Regiment kept their forces near the front gate and patrolled constantly thought out the entire city. At one attempt of the orcs to take Ironforge, the General Koris, was slain by a rogue spear and after the fight was given a burial in front of the gates of Ironforge. The orcs were finally cleaned out of Khaz Modan with much help from the humans and the dwarfs noted a debt to the humans, a debt that The Regiment intended to fill whenever necessary.

The Third War

Thaim was General for a short time before the demise of The Regiment came around, The Third War. As the human kingdoms requested aid from their dwarven allies The Regiment was sent out immediately to help combat whatever came their way, thought they were not prepared for such a threat as the undead. The plague swept across all kingdoms, slaying most of the populace including soldiers from The Regiment. Thaim took what few men he had that were not sickened and traveled towards the end of the lordaeron kingdom, at the border between what is today the eastern plague lands and the ghostlands. Determined to stop arthas' forces before they could expand any firther he closed off the pass using his men. Although the heart was there the strength was not, The Regiment was crushed under the heel of undeath and Thaim himself was risen as a death knight.

Freed of the Lich King

Thaim was freed of the Lich King's control after the battle of Light's Hope. Instead of venturing on into northrend to exact vengeance, Thaim decided to pick up where he left off, the Regiment. After a not-so-warming welcome back to Ironforge as a death knight, Thaim became disheartened after learning that most of his men had gone back into separate militias once he was slain.

He eventually picked himself up, dusted himself off and began his work, he recruited fellow-in-arms Hajnal Guthhrafn as a Brigadier and his second-in-command and started assigning posts to new recruits.
