Personality

Zul'Raka is a secretive sort of troll who clings in a steadfast manner to the ways of old. Though he respects the Orcs and all they have done for his people, he just does not see the purpose of throwing out the old traditions. Women, in his eyes are still prizes to be won, a fallen enemy is still a tasty snack and absolutely nothing is wrong with turning that damned messenger who brought bad news into a bullfrog.

Locked, as he is in the blood soaked and mystical ways of troll tradition, Zul'Raka rarely agrees with anything the established powers do. Thrall is a fool and Vol'Jin is just a puppet who has abandoned his people. The rules which this troll plays by are the ones set down by the eldritch creatures, the spirits of earth, wind, fire, and water. The gods of old, the Loa, are the true authority and fate is determined not by a mans actions, but by the whim of his mighty cosmic lords.

A modern savage, Zul'Raka has disregarded the hordes overall agenda and absolutely refuses to aid in any effort associated with Thrall at this point in time. Instead, he searches endlessly to find a way, any way of restoring power and glory to the Darkspear Tribe alone.

The Witch Doctor toils constantly over his science and magical art, known traditionally as ‘Juju', a sort of alchemical practice which combines traditional troll voodoo and chemical reactions. Quiet the performer, Zul'Raka appeases the spirit's he believes to exist in his ingredients by way of dark ramblings in old trollish tongues and bizarre yet extravagant dances. The ingredients of his brews often posses wild and primal spirits of dynamic properties, rarely does this doctor aim for the mundane.

Getting along in years, Zul'Raka is an old tiger sensing his end. In his slow descent into death he is fiercer then ever, allowing no tolerance for disrespect or foolish words he rarely has anything positive to say of others these days. Along with this irritability comes a sense of rush, as if he must complete his work before the spirits come calling him back into the earth.

Tempering his overall unpleasantness is a dark humor and strange playfulness that mocks the very existence of the world. A chuckle, for Zul'Raka, can be found in the simplest and most childish of things.

A great fear resides in him as well. Shall he and his ways be forgotten? And so despite his hermit like mannerisms and nasty regard for others he secretly searches for a heir to carry on his knowledge and beliefs. Death, is very scary for those whom practice voodoo.

History

Zul'Raka was born to the original name of Raka. The title of Zul, though, was a fate chosen for him long before his conception.

The latest in a line of Voodoo mystics, priests and dark shamans, Raka was born into a legacy of troll tradition and spirituality. At a young age he was already ingesting hallucinogenic fungi and inhaling peculiarly colored smoke at the urgings of his father to “create a strong bond with the spirits”. And thus for the sake of preserving tradition Raka spent the grand majority of his childhood in a dream like haze, flying high on the most foul poisons one could muster from the lush growth of Stranglethorn vale.

However wrong as the notion of drugging a child might seem to us it was none the less effective and it forged a troll bound to the natural world. By the age of twenty one, Raka had attained the powers of a crude shaman. Through drug induced dealings with the spirit world he had bartered with the elements and sealed pacts to ensure himself as a conduit to their energy.

As Raka grew up he was taught the intricacies of the spiritual world by his father and older male relatives. However, his learning took a sharp turn toward the path of the Witch Doctor as a growing interest in the brewing of potions obsessed the young troll.

As the Darkspear tribe relocated to the Broken Isles, Raka took up an apprenticeship under a lesser Witch Doctor and flourished beneath the troll's tutelage. After some time he was pronounced a fully qualified mystic by his teacher and given his ‘Witch Docterite' so to speak at the age of thirty seven.

Fully confirmed in his spiritual destiny he carried on to aid his people in the ongoing conflict with the Murloc enemy whom they competed with for control over the island.

Upon Thrall's arrival on the island, Raka, or officially Zul'Raka by that time, was sceptical of the Orc and his warband. This wariness was quickly quelled however, by the immense aid that the green folk were to his tribesmen.

Raka, though, has now grown less favorable of the Orcs, as the dark shadow left by Sen'Jin's death still lingers fresh in his mind. Vol'Jin, though a qualified shadow hunter and cunning leader, has only let Raka down in all of his expectations. In the old doctor's words “Vol'Jin fights fah' da' Tribe, not da' Darkspear”

Currently, Raka searches for the power to reclaim the Echo Isles from the treacherous Zalazane, or better yet, reclaim a piece of Stranglethorn for his tribe.
