Information

The Lich King was again the first to move and his legions of undead stormed the port city of Ratchet with an innumerable fleet and one of the floating fortress cities - a gigantic necropolis rivaling the strength of Naxxramas itself. The goblins, although utilizing every trick up their sleeves and bombarding the approaching enemy with their cannons and other contraptions, had not chance to stop the hordes of undead crawling up from the very sea and in the end were forced to retreat[1]. They sought aid from the Orcs who had received word of the invasion from a brave grunt who had stormed to Orgrimmar with the warning and were already preparing a response in the form of a force mainly drawn from the experienced Warsong warriors but many others came to aid the effort to free the port city[2][3]

Before the Horde forces reached Ratchet however the undead had already made their next move- part of their legions hard broken off from the main army and headed into the swamps south of the port. Presumably to lay siege to the Alliance capital of Theramore[[4]]. This was disregarded by the Warsong forces who shrugged it off as the Alliance's problems and went on to make camp around Ratchet, performing daily attacks on the undead warriors defending the port city for the Lich King.

The Scourge did not sit idle this time either though, already did their plans start to unfold as reports came in of a large army marching through the Plaguelands, it became crystal clear one day as the Warsongs and their allies raced into Ratchet to strike at their enemy only to find the entire city abandoned. Soon after the Necropolis followed suit and disappeared, headed straight out into the ocean. The army who had been reported in the Plaguelands made its first strike on the Forsaken at the Bulwark to Tirisfal[[5]], they were held back by the vicious defenders and the few Argent paladins brave enough to be deployed along side their hostile ally long enough for the Forsaken to withdraw into their subterranean city. There the Forsaken held out against far superior numbers, being cut off from the outside world they had little resources- but then, living dead does not need much. What they had was, fortunately, a large pool of ingredients ready to be turned into their most deadly weapon. And by order of the Dark Lady it was, the latest strain of the Blight was created, against the outspoken wishes of Warchief Thrall and his council.

With the Blight's help a series of explosions were arranged by the collaboration of the Death Stalkers and the Apothecarium's agents. The toxin was spread with the winds and devastated the Scourge presence, fire was employed to both finish the undead attackers and the lingering Blight off. With the area around Undercity secured the Death Guard and the Dark Lady herself moved to destroy any Scourge stragglers yet to have left Tirisfal.
