I dreamt... of a forest aflame. I dreamt of a treeless waste where the blood of hundreds stained green fingers...

"Already the forest falls?"
It must end.

Blood on the Gold Road

The Gold Road was an ancient trade-way that some believe extended perhaps further than Kalimdor.

A caravan filled with logging equipment and weaponry is headed to Splintertree Post from Mor'shan Base Camp. The sun is hot, and no wind seems to rustle the trees on this day. The night elves have received information about this trade, and an ambush has been set just past the Lake in Nightsong Woods.

The Elves attacked first, killing the driver in one blow. Chaos, it seemed, ensued as the battle raged. The Horde was being pressed, and First Sergeant Bagrun Wolftail called for aid through a goblin-transmit device (GTD.) A war-machine was sent into the fray, launching a few boulders and knocking down a large tree which crushed the caravan. A flare gun was set off, and missing the original target, slammed into the fallen tree and set it aflame. The fighting continued as the fire spread, unnoticed, along the dry bark. Reaching the caravan, it set powder-kegs aflame and caused a massive explosion. The wounded fighters dispersed, but as they fled the scene Orcish horns sounded just as Silverwing Soldiers raced into the fray. The battle lasted, and the two sides exchanged deaths. The battle ended swifter than it began, though, as fires overwhelmed the battle-field. The Orcs retreated, and the druids were called to mend the damage caused by the flames.

The ambush was planned by Su'yana Ashenarrow, a Night Elven Huntress that can no longer stand seeing the forests of her people slowly taken away. She called whoever she could by duty, and offered pay to others in hopes of achieving a sizable strike force. Her intent was to fight with only the violence necessary, and thusly she managed to achieve her goal without anyone's death. However, after their fighting dissipated, the following fight amounted to more than one lost life. Bagrun Wolftail fought tooth-and-nail to keep the caravan secure, but in the end it was his own support unit's faulty aim that cost their supplies. Returning to Mor'shan Base Camp, he was reprimanded for his failure and punished accordingly. Su'yana has lain low for now, hoping to avoid the wrath of her superiors should they find out she carried out such a mission without their approval.
