Personality

Elyssa is a calm, usually caring yet highly xenophobic woman. She rarely trusts anyone outside of her own people. The rare few outsiders who do manage to win her trust, she still treats with a certain amount of distrust. The woman prefers the solitude of the wilds over sitting around in an inn, talking to people though whenever the opportunity arises, she is always up for a talk with a true friend. Elyssa is always up for a simple game of chess to get her mind of things. One of Elyssa's biggest weaknesses, could easily be her biggest weakness, are big, muscular Kaldorei men. Elyssa is terribly scared of any kinds of insects. This is due to her near death experiences during the War of the Shifting Sands.

History

Elyssa was born in a small village in Winterspring along with her twin sister, Taryn, who was born with amber eyes. Her early life was simple, learning to survive in the cold, harsh enviroments that was her home. Whenever her parents could, they took her to surrounding areas like Ashenvale or what would later become Felwood. When Elyssa came of age, she joined up with the Sentinels. Taryn was taken by their father, dissapearing into the Barrow Dens for thousands of years. Her sister's training happened in complete secrecy from everyone but direct family.

No matter how much her superiors told her to balance her speed and strength, Elyssa never listened, always preferring her speed over strength. As she grew older, this only stayed and even grew stronger over time, completely neglecting her strength. Unable to carry a big weapon into battle, Elyssa remained with smaller nimble swords, daggers and throwing knives.

This training continued for years on end until the War of the Shifting Sands unfurled. To aid her people, Elyssa set out to war. On the battlefield she served with speed almost unmatched by many of her sisters. One day of combat, most of her sisters got killed by the ravaging Silithid. Several of her sisters were being charged from several sides and one of the Glaive Throwers was left abandoned, its operators killed. Elyssa quickly ran towards the Glaive Thrower, taking command on her own. As luck would have it, there was still a glaive present. Quickly aiming the Thrower, she send the glaive flying towards several Silithid. Alas, her aim was off and she hit her sisters instead, all of them being cut up by the glaive and the Silithid now fixed on her.

Elyssa abandoned the Glaive Thrower and turned to run like the wind, not wishing to get involved in a fight she was unable to win. Elyssa was lucky again as she ran into a group of fellow Sentinels before the Silithid could catch up with her. After the fight with the Silithid, Elyssa collapsed on the ground, tired and having sustained near death wounds.

A few days later, she woke up in the care of a Priestess of Elune, her wounds being tended to. The moment she was back on her feet, Elyssa was called to her superiors. Here they requested a report of what happened that day. Elyssa told them everything. The fighting, the dying, her mistake. The moment she told about her mistake, she nearly collapsed internally, emotions flooding the woman. Elyssa got discharged from service until deemed fit for combat again.

Elyssa returned to her home, her mother still there and her father still in the Emerald Dream. After spending some time with her mother, dealing with the experience of war and the memory she took out a team of Sentinels by mistake.

After the War of the Shifting Sands was over, Elyssa left her home to eplore what was left of Kalimdor she had yet to see. On her travels she came across the Tauren and one of the Tauren stood out in particular. The two travelled together for some time until they came across a group of Centaur. The Centaur attacked without warning. Before Elyssa could take out her weapons and strike at the Centaur, the Tauren was ahead of her, fighting the Centaur with his bare hands and at a speed she never thought possible. Elyssa managed to kill one as the rest of the Centaur were taken down by her unlikely ally. Impressed by his speed in combat, she asked him what exactly he did and how. The Tauren explained her everything he knew.

Elyssa became interested in the man and his ways of fighting, asking him if she too could be trained. And so Elyssa's training started. Her training with the Tauren in unarmed combat took her several weeks before she went to her first ley-line. Her first rune was inscribed by the Tauren with her. The inscribing process hurt the woman but she showed no pain whatsoever.

Elyssa and her Tauren friend travelled for years, passing the ley-lines and inscribing runes onto her body, increasing her already impressive speed even more. After her training was over, Elyssa and her mentor split up once more. Elyssa went to explore the parts of Kalimdor she had yet to see and returned home after she saw all of Kalimdor accessible to her. Here she spent years with her family or out in the snowy wilds of her home.

Years passed and the Third War came to be, Elyssa too was called to the front. Luck was once again on her side and she served on the borders of her home, fighting off the Orcs, Demons and humans coming there. Here she was eventually reunited with her sister and her father, both now grand Druids. Eventually learning of the new alliance with the Orcs and humans, Elyssa put her fighting with them on hold to fight off the demons. The War eventually ended and Elyssa learned of lands across the ocean. She set off to explore these new lands and aid those who cannot aid themselves. It wasn't long until the Night Elf realised these new lands weren't for her. Dead men walking, lack of gigantic forests of Ashenvale, lack of snow and all manner of outsiders she didn't like.

She found a Dwarf in Duskwood, a fellow Runemaster who told her of a rune down south, near Booty Bay. She faced a choice to either go south to Booty Bay, find said rune and take the boat there to her homelands or head north to Stormwind and head home from there. She chose the former, gaining her newest rune, the Runic Rage before setting off homewards. Here she spent more years, living away from outsiders and whenever possible only talking or hanging out with her own kind.

Skills and Abilities

Skills and Abilities:

  • Stormrunner Heritage: The Stormrunner family has lived in Winterspring as long as recorded history goes back, this causes all members born in the Stormrunner family, including Elyssa, to have an increased resitance to the cold. This does not render her, or any other member of the Stormrunner family, immune to frostbite or the like.
  • Runic Speed: Activating a rune on her left shoulder, Elyssa temporarily increases the speed of her attacks. She has to active this rune before use. Overuse of this rune causes her body to become slower than usual.
  • Runic Resilience: Elyssa actives a rune on her right shoulder to turn her skin as hard as stone for a few seconds. This effect, however, causes her to be completely immobilized for the duration of the effect.
  • Runic Awareness: Elyssa activates a rune on her forehead, increasing her awareness of her direct surroundings at all times. This does not mean she hears or sees everything. Every sound and movement is just noticed easier by her. If this rune is not activated, her awareness of her surroundings equals that of a normal Night Elf.
  • Runic Healing: Elyssa, by activating a rune on her stomach, is capable of concentrating her arcane power into herself and heal her wounds.
  • Runic Leap: By activating a rune near her belly button, Elyssa leaps up and comes down crashing on the ground, creating an earthquake in her immediate surroundings to both harm and throw her opponents of balance. This earthquake can also be caused by activating the rune and without leaping.
  • Runic Rage: By activating a rune on her left cheek, Elyssa loses herself to rage increasing damage dealt but also damage taken. This also removes all existing harmful spell effects (curses and poison magical in nature. Natural curses and poisons are only temporarily nulled) and gives her a temporary resitance against them.
  • Runic Charge: By activating a rune on her left hip, Elyssa closes the distance between herself and her target and attacks.
