Appearance

When trying to be subtle, which isn't very often, Kieran can be found wearing dark leather and cloth attire, usually accompanied by a hood of dark colouring. His usual battle attire is the simple gear of a Death Knight risen for the Lich King's new crusade; black, spiked Saronite plate.

Other: Kieran's rotting, colourless flesh is covered in detailed tattoos depicting struggle and suffering in all their forms; the most prominent being a beautiful human woman displayed as an angel spread across his black, entirely black and white save for the blood on her armour and in her tears.

Personality

In death, his mind is broken, and he sees the world as a cruel, paradoxical joke, believing that the purpose of life is to be lifted up only to be let down and shattered. His scheming ways have dissolved quickly; he views his old life as the reason for his current state, and tries to separate himself from the person he once was as much as possible.

He is a relentless enemy, a friend of none. His finds companionship in misery and the others he views ‘enlightened'. Often he talks to himself, touches others for no apparent reason, and seems to use his hands to better understand other people's faces. His eyes never stop moving, cold, dead and observant, always flicking from one person or object to the next.

History

Before his death, Kieran was a boy who was not only down to earth, but somewhat more scheming than his fellow teenagers. He knew how to have fun, there is no question there – he was often found womanising after a night at the tavern with a group of friends, usually quite successful.

More often than not, one would find him working on his beloved ‘Get Rich Quick' schemes. His favourite hobby was to create designs to be applied to armour and cloth, which led him to an interest in the tattoo industry.

After his mother left to aid in the plight of the Argent Crusade in the Plaguelands, fighting off the ‘New Plague', he became very close to his father. Unfortunately, they shared only a short time together, before the ghouls came.

When he awoke, he was lying face-up in the crypt of Acherus. He looked down, appalled to find himself lying naked atop a pile of corpses, and struggled to get free. He was garbed in the attire of a Death Knight and led to kneel before the Lich King. He learned that he was under the traitor prince's command, and had no choice but to obey the King's iron law.

Grimacing, he rode onto the field of battle, time and time again, cutting down his opponents in the name of the Lich King, spreading His glorious cause. On one such occasion, as he and a fellow Death Knight named Deril were battling a group of Crusaders in the Plaguelands, he saw a familiar face; Jaid, his mother. She lunged at him, not recognising his face. He dodged, parried, and lunged, a mindless beast. He slew his own mother.

When the abhorrence of his actions dawned on him, he lost the remaining shards of sanity he safeguarded in his black mind. He cast aside the Scourge, the Lich King – even those who would adopt him, this ‘Ebon Blade'. He wandered the land with other lost death knights, searching for an end to their anguish. One day, they chanced upon a child. The child looked at them with fear and disgust, and screamed, fleeing towards a nearby settlement. The nomad inhabitants of the settlement came at the risen dead bearing arms, and Kieran and his fellow death knights worked up a bloodrage, killing not only the men, but the women and children. He dropped to his knees in the centre of the ring of blazing tents, corpses strewn about him, death knights putting the living to the sword, and the truth dawned on him; there was no end to his anguish.

He could only spread it.

He now scours the face of Azeroth, intent on bringing the world to its' knees, and showing that the life he once led – the life of all the inhabitants of this world – would only bring suffering, and resistance is futile.
