Appearance

In life Ithris wore her Warden armor with pride, rarely taking it off and keeping it well maintained. In death the practice remains, with the Death Knight almost always wearing the heavy armor, cloak and shoulderpads.

Age and constant wear, however, has taken its effect on the armor. The once brightly-shined metal is now tarnished and covered in dirt. There are numerous dents and punctures dotted across the breastplate and leggings. The metal gloves and boots have been repaired many times with scrap metal. The cloak, its holes covered with strips of scrap of cloth and animal hide, is a dark patchwork.

To remind herself of her fallen position she does not wear her helmet, instead preferring to hide her face with a dark hood.

Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Death has changed little about the Warden’s personality. She is a quiet woman, withdrawn, who prefers work and movement over idle chatter and relaxation. In groups she speaks little and tries to avoid crowds or large gatherings at all costs. If pressed she will speak briefly, oddly shy for a woman so old and strong.

When working she is goal-oriented. She will move towards her target with a single-minded intensity, never slowing in her pursuit of justice. Despite this ferocity she is not unkind, and is prone to acts of mercy or kindness if she believes the cause is just or the person is truly good at heart.

The Warden is ashamed of her state of undeath. She considers falling under the Lich King’s control her own fault and seeks atonement for those she killed because of her weakness. Though she tries to be meticulous, sometimes her sorrow can cause her to act recklessly in the face of an enemy.

History

From a young age Ithris was a child of the forest. The wiry girl grew up amongst the trees and animals of Ashenvale, learning how to properly tend the land and protect the forest. When she was of age the young Ithris went to become an apprentice beneath a huntress. During her lessons she learned how to wield a bow and hunt game. For years she practiced her art, perfecting her skills and honing her art until she was considered a huntress in her own right.

Though an able marksman, Ithris gained particular distinction as a tracker. For days she would follow big game, tracking them through the gnarled roots and bright glades, gaining on them hour by hour when they stopped to rest or drink. For hundreds of years she remained a hunter, shunning her family and society in favor of remaining in the dense forest. Though it brought in money and food, it was the pleasure of the hunt and the peace of being alone that kept Ithris away from home for weeks at a time.

Hunting, however, could only do so much for the woman. While a true pleasure, remaining away from her people left a pit in her stomach. Wanting to serve and give back to the community, Ithris joined the Sentinels and served as a scout. Though it could not compare to the loneliness of the thicket, Ithris took comfort in the knowledge that she could more directly help her people now as a soldier of Darnassus.

As the years dragged on Ithris began to shy away from the bow and more towards the blade. Though she still favored quick movement and flexibility, the woman began to wear heavier and heavier armors to protect herself against the slings and blows of enemies. Very soon she was an accomplished soldier in her own right, fighting side-by-side with her sisters now in defense of their homeland.

A life of combat alone was not enough for the Ithris, however. A tenacious fighter and accomplished soldier, she was one of many women tested for entrance into The Watchers. Seeing this as a chance to return to her roots while continuing her service to Darnassus, Ithris threw her all into her training, earning her armor and rank after a decade of struggle and effort.

As a Warden, Ithris protected Night Elf lands tirelessly in Kalmidor and Ashenvale. Over the years she honed her abilities, mixing her past as a huntress with her training as a Sentinel to live up to the position of Warden. Little else troubled the woman and, once again, she spent weeks at a time away from her family and cities hunting down criminals and enemies to society.

The isolation of the Night Elves would not last, however. As Darnassus opened its arms to the outside world so did the Wardens. Ithris, never having left the safety of Kalmidor, was hesitant to expand her reach into the Eastern Kingdom. Yet the call could not be ignored and, when a criminal escaped from Darnassus and fled across the ocean, the Warden was in pursuit.

The Eastern Kingdom was not kind to the Warden. Reluctant to approach the friendly races on the continent for help, the woman remained in the wilderness as she followed her prey. The going was slow for the Warden, however, with the mysterious and varied terrain slowing her pursuit. By the time she had caught up with her target the two were deep in the Eastern Plaguelands.

Having no difficulty apprehending the man, Ithris made to return home to Kalmidor and her people. In traveling, however, she was forced to work her way through the hostile undead and twisted fauna. Slowed down by her prisoner, the Warden suffered injury after injury at the hands of the dangerous denizens of the Plagueland.

Half conscious and badly wounded, the tracker collapsed beside a riverbed to rest. Exhausted, she drank the corrupted water and slipped into a delirium and fever. Taking his chance, the prisoner escaped, leaving the Warden to die in the mud of the riverbank.

Days later agents of the Scourge found the Warden’s corpse half submerged in the muck, her skin already beginning to rot in the caustic air. The exotic soldier was taken in and resurrected, used as a loyal slave and soldier to the Lich King as a Death Knight.

Ithris, sent earlier to Northrend to bolster the forces of Icecrown, was not freed with the other Death Knights at Light’s Hope. For years she continued to serve the Lich King, slaughtering once-friend and foe alike with single-minded intensity in the frozen wastes.

Only the death of the Lich King freed her of his control.

Broken and powerless, Ithris turned her back on her people and joined with the Ebon Blade. She now serves as a Warden in everything but name, hunting down rogue death knights and ferreting out Scourge loyalists across Azeroth. She works tirelessly to atone for her sins and erase the shame of her failure.

Though her work has taken her many times to Kalmidor and Ashenvale, she has no desire for her family or people to see what she has become.

Skills and Abilities

When Ithris lost her connection with Elune and Nature most of her magical-based Warden abilities disappeared as well. All that remains is her physical Warden training and her experience as a hunter.

She is an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant and is quite proficient in the use of her round glaive and hand claws.

Though it pains her to use it, her years of service to the Lich King have granted her a command over Unholy magic. She is able to use Blood magic to a limited extent (Mostly to hunt and track) and knows only one or two Frost spells.

She is a skilled tracker and hunter. Undeath has only heightened her ability by allowing her to pursue her prey without rest, food or water.

Though rarely used, Ithris’ skills in Alchemy, Survival and Leatherworking are still honed even after years of neglect.
