Appearance

Itheros usually dawns his Deathknight attire of black plate mail and chain. He also has attached to those garments two severed heads that he keeps as trophies of kills. He takes to proper methods needed to preserve and stuff the heads making them more ornamental than anything (These most often remain hidden from sight in a sack), upon his waist Itheros carries his two blades which helped him to earn the name “The Butcher” they are two large one handed swords. Itheros barely leaves the comfort of the darkness that his hood provides, he hates the outside so much that he would rather watch it from the depths of his hood.

Other: Itheros is a well-muscled elf for being a former magus; his father believed that you cannot train the mind without first training your body. His father made him spend long hours after his days of studying scrolls and ancient texts in sword play with those more well versed in the art of combat, Itheros has the mind of a magus and the body of a seasoned warrior. His father’s obsession with perfection would allow him nothing less than a masterful sword arm and a sharp witted brain.

Personality

Itheros has a very dark personality, to say the least. He is very brash and out spoken saying whatever comes to his mind, no matter how offensive or obsene the thought may be. Itheros despises the world in which he lives, if it was up to him it would be bathed in death and the fires of war. The real twist to his personality is that he holds a seceret hate and disgust for his former race the High Elves now called “Blood Elves”, he shows them no mercy when he judges them upon his chopping block in his mind he especially hates those that think they rule him in some way. Itheros believes he is nothing more than a killing machine without a job, he does not believe he is capable of loving so it is not something he has persued in the past. “The Butcher” Truly has embraced his new life as a Deathknight to the fullest and has allowed any idea of being a normal Elf again die in his mind.

History

Itheros grew up to mother Liandra Whisperleaf and father Tanthilius Blackheart however he was not your normal child he hardly laughed or cried, emotion was never allowed in his house hold his father had stamped it as a sign of weakness and he repayed that weakness with harsh punishment. He was often forced to read or recite texts his father gave to him, Itheros was never really allowed to play with other children his father telling him “They laugh and play now but what will they do when death is knocking at the door…will they still laugh?....pathetic…” Itheros hated his father. His mother however was like a gentle breeze that quelled his hatred for his father she would say to him “You are such a gift to this world Itheros, don't let anyone take that from you child you are what makes this world beautiful to me…” He loved his mother for her caring when no one else would although at times it would land her in bigger trouble often behind closed doors where Itheros could hear the smacking of flesh on flesh and the cries of pain and sorrow he tried hard to not hear…he tried so hard. When asked in public what had happened to her Liandra would reply “Silly me here I was trying to get something out of the pantry when the ladder gave way, and here I am…” She often followed the comment with an empty smile. Everyone knew how she had come to wear the scars…but it was no one’s place to speak against Tanthilius, without proper evidence.

Time passed on and for many years Itheros lived a secret life under his father’s iron fist, until it was time for Itheros to reach adulthood. Tanthilius came to Itheros “Well boy…it is time for you to join the school… you –will- learn the ways of a magus.”…Itheros looked blank at his father “Yes father… I know.” Liandra stood in the door watching fresh back from the market place… “Bu-but Tanthilius I thought we talked about him being a merchant?”… Tanthilius turned to his wife, his blood was up “Watch your tone with me woman!...The boy will do as I say.”… Liandra crumbled under the weight of his voice scared of what might follow. Itheros placed his hand on his father’s shoulder… “Come father I am ready…” Tanthilius smiled wickedly “Superb…”. Tanthilius pushed pass Liandra… “We will discuss this outburst later…” she hung her head “Yes sir…”.

Itheros was in awe when they arrived at the tower, its beauty was caught high in the blazing sun light, and the tower was silver bathed in a crimson gown laced with gold “F-father… I’ve never seen the tower so beautiful.” Tanthilius smiled “You will see many things differently now boy…” The two entered into the tower, the trials of passage were long and difficult but Itheros was already well versed in what to expect he passed with flying colors much to the others surprise while Tanthilius simply smiled and nodded. Itheros had passed and was now an Initiate under his father, the years that followed he learned many horrifying truths about the world as they travelled but he also learned to wield the arcane arts very well.

It was a hot afternoon when the two had returned from the tower after Tanthilius finished teaching the boy about the effects of frost magic he spoke down to Itheros “You have learned much but I fear you are becoming okay with your progress…you are learning slower than the others and you are embarrassing me as your father, you must get this pathetic strain from your mother… that whore I should have known better than to marry a common woman…” Itheros hid his anger for fear that his father would strike him. The two arrived home to sit down for dinner the tension was drawn taught this evening for Tanthilius was preparing to take Itheros away from the city for good “Liandra… I am taking the boy away with me, he will learn better away from your childish caring.” Liandra was shattered by the news “B-but you can’t he is my only son!... Tanthilius please don't do this, you told me he would only travel short distances with you so that I may still see him… please he is all I have that I hold dear.” Tanthilius slammed his fist down hard on the table “That is the problem Liandra!... how can the boy ever truly become the all-powerful magus he should be with you around?... NO! my decision is final.” Itheros jumped startled as Tanthilius brought his fist down on the table hard again.

Later that night while Itheros was studying he heard something he hadn't heard in a long time… dead silence. He stood from his desk walking to his bedroom door upon opening it he saw his parents were not across the hall in there room as they usually were, he strode downstairs to find it empty. Itheros ventured outside into the street searching for his parents when he caught a glimpse of his father and mother in the distance heading for the city gates, he hurried after them pushing through the crowded evening square. Tanthilius clutched his wife's arm hard she winced from the pain but stood smiling as they passed people and guards, her thoughts racing about Itheros as they left the city and headed deep into the forest outside of Silvermoon they stood high on a hill she spoke “Tanthilius please he is my son too…” he smiled wickedly “Wrong wench he is my son, you just birthed him.” Itheros crept quietly behind a tree watching the two converse… “Dammit Tanthilius please!” he let go of her arm “No Liandra leave now… I will not ask you again.” She hung her head and turned to leave when she heard a voice “Mother!... wait no don’t go please father let her stay!” Tanthilius rounded on the boy as he ran towards the two on the hill top he dashed the boy down hard with a back hand “You! Dare interrupt me… you are to be studying instead you waste your time with this WHORE!” Tanthilius gestured towards Liandra… “I'll show you what… that kind of weakness gets you foolish child!” a dagger flashed from beneath his robe he moved towards Liandra “Please Tanthilius don't!... wait!” before she could finish Tanthilius plunged the dagger deep into her stomach over and over again the sound of wet flesh sticking to bloodsoaked clothing with each plunge, she gurgled “Please stop… please…” her voice faded as she clutched Tanthilius hard, he drove the dagger deeper into her several more times before letting her fall to the ground. Itheros was paralysed by fear and by the shock of what just happened, his mother the only thing he held dear in this world was just stabbed to death before his eyes and he did nothing to stop it. Tanthilius turned to face the boy, he was covered in blood it soaked his hands like a creamy black liquid that shinned when bathed in the white moon light “Well boy… make a choice join her… or do as your told!” Itheros sat still for a moment staring at his mother’s twitching bloody body “I-I…I will do as I'm told father…” He stood quietly and walked back towards the city a blank pale look upon his face he looked back once only to see his father ignite the body in a blaze… he then continued towards the city gates far in the distance.

Itheros did as he was told for many more years until he had graduated and was set to become a full-fledged Magus his father was proud “See what hard work grants you boy… without that whore around you have realised your true potential.” The words were like knives to Itheros each one cutting him deep, “Yes father… I see…” The celebration was glorious for a new wave of Magus was set to be ushered into the towers circle. While the party continued Itheros quietly went home and sat in his room for long moments remembering his mother, he glanced over at the oil lamp lighting his room he smiled to himself the first smile he had smiled in almost seventy three years he sunk the wick down into the lamp extinguishing the flame he then emptied the contents of the lamp into a medium sized glass container. Tanthilius came home laughing to himself “My son where are you, let us walk side by side father and son as it should have been, come walk with me.” Itheros stared at the vial “Yes father… let us walk…” The two of them walked through the city smiling Tanthilius showing Itheros off to his friend’s whos sons had become merchants or shop owners, the two then headed for the city gates “Come son I wish to show you something.”

Tanthilius took the lead as they made their way towards the coast near the edge of the forest, Tanthilius pointed out to the see as they came to rest ontop of a cliff overlooking the bay “Son…someday you will be great like I am, and that makes me proud to say.” He pulled a small jeweled ring from his robe “Take this as my son, for you have brought honour to your father.” Itheros stared at the ring for a long moment growing angry as flashes of his mother came to mind, he reached into a pouch hidden beneath his robes and grasped the vial containing the oil “Thank you father…” he took the ring with his free hand and went to embrace his father as a son would but instead he yanked the vial free and smashed it over his father’s head “Wha-what the hell are you doing?” Tanthilius fell dazed blinking trying to stay awake from the blow. Itheros grinned watching his father squirm in the oil as he tried to regain his focus, “You little bastard, what the hell do you think you are doing… I should have known you would be weak like your mother.” Itheros stood looking down at his father with a cold stare “I'm going to kill you father.” Tanthilius looked up for the first time in his whole life he was afraid as he saw Itheros holding a small igniting stick “P-please son… I am your father look at all I have given you, I love you! Spare me and together we can rule the council someday…” Itheros stared his icy gaze never waving “Now who is weak father…” Tanthilius watched his son terrified of the power he now held over him “Please son… don't…” Itheros took a smooth and calming breath “No father… tonight… you burn.” And with those being the last words he ever would say to his father he threw the igniting stick down watching his father scream and toss in pain as his flesh became charred and cracked under the intense heat, Itheros watched his father burn for almost two whole hours before the city magistrate discovered them. Itheros was arrested and sentenced to death, before he died Itheros cursed his kinship with the elves “Someday you will all burn… and I pray I am the one holding the flame.” he died screaming.

Itheros was adrift in the endless abyss of blackness when the voice spoke to him “Rise fallen warriors, serve me and I will grant you power to bring justice to all you hate… I will be your father a father who loves you and you will serve me as a soldier then together we will watch the world burn.” The voice was hypnotic almost enthralling Itheros loved what it offered and he spoke back “Yes, grant me this power… I will serve you as your soldier of death and together we will burn them all.” He no sooner finished speaking when he felt his life being ripped from the abyss he awoke screaming “FAAAAAATHER!” Itheros sat up staring at his cold icy hands “I- I can’t feel anything…” a tall horrifying man stood before him in black platemail his voice was cold and emotionless “Feelings are a mortal trait… you are a soldier of death now, you have no use for them my child.” Itheros could feel his new found powers flowing through his icy veins “Wha- what am I?” the icy voice spoke as the massive armored man moved towards the balcony in the distance… “You are my Death Knight.” And with those words Itheros began his work as “The Butcher” with darkness as his mother and hate as his father Itheros welcomed his new life with open arms. However he would later liberate himself along with the "Knights of the Ebon Blade" he hated Arthas for not keeping his promise to the Death Knights and so he turned his back on his creator a walking killing machine without an operator. Itheros would seek retribution in Northrend along with the rest of his brothers and sisters finding a new family in the Ebon Blade one that he could embrace to the fullest in military service.

Itheros grew in fame quickly; his former name “The Butcher” followed him into his new service with the Ebon Blade. His sharp mind and battle hardened skills sent him straight to the top earning him much fame among his brothers and those they worked with such as the Argent Crusade, Alliance, and the Horde alike. However this was not enough for the Knight of Death he sought more. Itheros took to his studies in the runic Death Knight arts much as he did when he was a dedicated Magus. The Elf’s hunger for power was unending and so he was chosen for a special position often offered to those of great service in the Ebon Blade. Blackheart was to begin his training as a Dread Commander. These fearsome Knights were dedicated killing machines both cold and calculating on the field. Their abilities to access their Death Knight abilities know no ends; they may tap the dark runic abilities of their kind like no others. Itheros trained under his company Commander enduring great suffering at his hand. The Death Knight was shown a new path to pain and horror one that transformed his flesh into a leathery blanket rather than living tissue and his blood ceased to flow, veins hardening with only ice remaining. Flesh became like armor and his insides frozen solid. Itheros’s body is an icy cadaver of its former living fleshed self. During his training he had to undergo fearsome attacks on his mind, no Commander could lead against a foe should he be weak of mind. Through pain, death, and horror Itheros emerged still with a fire burning inside him. One that would never cease one that continues to drive him onward in his service of the Blade. After earning the approval from his superiors Itheros was given permission to begin his work as a Dread Commander of the Blade. Blackheart now serves his brothers and sisters both on and off the field making his home in the floating citadel where he continues to train and lead those who answer the call of The Ebon Blade.

Abilities

Dread Commanders are fearsome foes. Itheros could be easily recognized by many different sects in Azeroth since the Arthas conflict called for such attention. He has earned fame and fear alike from working with the Argent Crusade, Alliance, and the Horde. They are experts in combat and tactics. The Dread Commander has perfected himself in most all areas of being the perfect killing machine on and off the field. His Death Knight Powers are stronge and he wields them with an unshaken hand even against light wielders. The runic powers they wield may be manipulated greatly; he may access master level abilities and call upon horrible dark powers. They command rot, disease, blood and ice using them like a skilled swordsman uses a blade. He/She fears nothing giving them a chance to fight off even the most fear inducing spells and illusions. The Dread Commander is fear made whole and as such the weak minded are sometimes unnerved when faced with them. Blades and axes are as much a part of their bodies as is an arm or leg and they call upon their powers through these weapons in a terrible fashion summoning great powers to the battle field. Itheros was a skilled swordsman in life and has only furthered his abilities as he trained to become a Dread Commander for this he has now become an expert in the art of blades and is second to none when using them. Dread Commanders may also call upon the dead in a much quicker fashion than most needing only a moment to summon his army of the dead to his side in battle. Itheros has embraced his new life giving way to becoming undead. He knows no pain, needs no sleep he has no need of food, water, or air. Lastly through his training in war the Dread Commander has become an expert in military style combat and warfare giving him a wide array of choices on the battle field when leading his troops from the front lines where he is able to make snap calls and judgments in the heat of combat. This ability gives way to their true names of Dread Commanders.

Weakness

Due to the vile and violent nature of his being the Dread Commander may not set foot on pure holy grounds such as chapels, graveyards, or properly bless earth without becoming weakened. His powers quickly begin to drain and he looses most all of his strength.
