History

Born in Gilneas to a family of four, Erick was the eldest of the two siblings. His father was a therapist and his mother was a tailor. Though his family didn't have an excess of gold, they managed to make ends meet and managed to keep Erick happy as he grew up. As the years passed, one day it was announced that there would be the construction of a wall to keep people in and out of Gilneas. Horrified, his family fled the city and took refuge in Lordaeron. It was at this time when his younger sister, Janice, was born. Being still young at the time, Erick's free time was spent playing with his sister and spending time trying to read his father's books. As the two children grew older, Erick expressed his interest in following his father's footsteps. His father happily agreed and began to teach him, occasionally letting him help his patients.

When the Third War started, Erick's family was still living in Lordaeron. Janice, not content with the simply helping their mother and father with simple tasks asked Erick to help train her so she could join the local guards. Unfortunately, the training didn't last for long until Lordaeron was overrun by Scourge forces. In the ensuing panic and chaos, the Fleischer household packed up all their belongings and fled for their lives. Running on foot however, they did not make it out of the city before a pair of ghouls caught up with them. Their father stayed behind in an attempt to buy time for his wife and children but was torn apart in front of them. As Erick and his family got to safety, they camped out in the forests for several days to stay safe for the moment. His mother and sister was obviously disturbed by their father's death but he managed to talk them into trying to find other survivors. Luck seemed to be on their side, as they found a wagon full of people fleeing the ruined city one day. Together, they traveled to what is now the Eastern Plaguelands.

Erick and his sister offered their services to the Scarlet Crusade, not knowing how fanatical they were. While Erick learned how to wield a sword and strengthened his body, his mother's depression over the loss of their city and the death of their father worsened. As the Scourge slowly overtook the land, Erick and his sister were sent out daily to fight in small scrimmages against the undead forces. As Naxxramas appeared, Erick and Janice were being sent out more frequently and went back home less often. One day, after nearly a week of camping out, they came back home to see their mother's corpse dangling in front of the doorway. After this incident, Erick became withdrawn and sullen. He would often go out for days on end by himself to fight lone Scourge soldiers and would come back bruised and bloody. One day, as he wandered out again he came upon what he thought was an injured man calling for help. Rushing over to help her, as he saw his missing jaw he realized with a growing horror that he had walked into a trap. Erick's suspicion was right, as ghouls and skeleton soldiers quickly surrounded, and killed him. The last thing he saw before he died, was a rusted club swinging towards his head.

After what seemed like an eternity, Erick finally opened his eyes again. Raised as a Death Knight, Erick was a quick learner and quickly picked up on what he was supposed to do. Being constantly fed lies, his dedication to what he saw as 'righteous' became interwoven into his moral code. He quickly advanced with other initiates into Havenshire, and later on with more Death Knights fought his way into New Avalon. One day, as he smashed open a locked door he saw just one person guarding the house. Janice, not recognizing her older brother ran forward to defend her house. Blinded by the Lich King's influence, Erick also ran forward to meet his attacker. While in life Erick would've easily lost, he was now created just for the sake of slaughter and death. The battle was one sided, with Erick quickly decimating his sister's defence and impaling her with his runeblade. Later on, when Erick was freed from the Lich King, all of his previous actions were seen with his own eyes free from outside influences. As he realized that he was the only surviving member of his family, he finally snapped. Any thoughts of self preservation was lost to him as he charged forward to help reclaim Acherus. His world was a hurricane of blood and ichor, with old memories and thoughts screaming in his head. As he relived the memory of killing his sister, he lost concentration for a moment and allowed for an abomination's hook to catch him. The hook tore through his armor and flung him back against the stairs. Taken out of the fight to be patched up by necromancers, Erick woke up later to be told that they were allowed to go back to their old faction cities.

Instead, Erick ventured out into the Plaguelands again and wandered into New Avalon. He spent days searching the city, but finally managed to find his sister's remains before journeying back to Stormwind. It was there that he buried his family, and quickly made his way to Northrend for revenge. As the war against the Lich King raged, Erick slowly fought his way into Icecrown where he took refuge in The Shadow Vault. During his time in Northrend, Erick began to practise his father's techniques on himself. Slowly hypnotizing himself to believe that he was in a happier time as well as to cope with hallucinations of his family. Months passed, and Erick's therapy seemed to work, controlling his emotions as well as his visions. Later on, Erick was finally given the news that the Lich King was dead. Now with nothing to do, Erick ventured back to Stormwind to find work in an effort to blend into society again
