Appearance

He tends to dress in rather shabby robes, tattered at the hem, with the cowl pulled down low over his face, and an old staff cross his back. However, when fully revealed for what he is, he wears the formal armour of a Knight of the Ebon Blade; blue-black, glowing faintly and giving off an unholy aura. He has carried his expertise with the polearm into his undeath and has chosen that weapon over any other – the surface of the weapon crawls and seethes with glowing runes.

Other: Ellemayne's skin is an unhealthy greenish-blue which he attempts to hide with as much clothing as possible. His voice tends to be muffled by the cowl to hide the echoing, harsh quality of his voice. Occasionally glimpsed round his neck whilst in his robes is a battered, tarnished silver oval locket on a chain.

Personality

As could be expected, Ellemayne is a cold, distant figure who is only coming to terms with what he is, and what he's done. However, he has some flashes of humour; the rather morbid trench humour of the soldier, but it's there nevertheless. What seems to keep him going at this time is his flat stubborn refusal to give up, and he is rather bent on paying Arthas for all his crimes and cruelty.

Born in a small settlement in Ashenvale Forest, Maeven spent the first hundred years of his life being prepared for life as a druid, however it became more and more obvious it was not his calling. At some point Maeven stumbled across the Highborn cursed ruins in Ashenvale, and developed an intense phobia of undead.

Maeven withdrew from an arranged marriage proposal by entering into service as an archer for a faction of Runners attempting to push back the corruption of Felwood. He spent a considerable amount of time hunting and perfecting his craft, and avoiding what he felt to be failure as a druid or as a potential husband.

After several thousand years in his ancestral homelands, Maeven decided to explore outside the borders of the Kaldorei, much against the misgivings of many. He ventured out into the world. The Kaldorei to sneak aboard a sailing vessel bound for the new continent. He slipped out under cover of darkness and found himself in the Wetlands where many of the younger races and the Wildhammer dwarves were establishing a foothold. The terrain however was completely unfamiliar to him and he was hard pressed to stay alive and also keep out of sight. He was found, starved and exhausted, by Brom of the newly formed Wildhammer clan. Brom taught him the finer points of hunting in the Eastern Kingdoms. Maeven was present at the war to recover Alexstrasza from kidnapping orcs, and fought beside the Wildhammers.

Maeven buried Brom in Aerie Peak, and per his wishes, went to live with the Wildhammer clan, proving his loyalty by pushing back the trolls, aiding in raising their gryphons, learning their ways as they learned his. He was adopted into the clan after several years of rather rough treatment and given the surname “Wildhammer”, replacing his own, which he never referred to again.

During the precursor to the Third War, Maeven joined the Silvereye, a bastion of traditional Kaldorei determined to keep Ashenvale safe from Horde encroachment, and joins in the Third War.

After the war and the loss of immortality, the Silvereye returned to their homelands to destroy any last bastions of Legion, and to attempt to come to terms with the new world. In a bold move by the corrupted druid Elenna, Maeven was forced to leave the Silvereye and wandered a time. He travelled to Mulgore to take part in the rite which initiated him into the Brotherhood of Hunters, and began his career as a dragonhunter of the Black Dragonflight.

Maeven joined the Lost Order, became the companion/consort of Imadrillan, and best friends with the human warlock Sabren, against the wishes of both Kaldorei and human alike. Sabren and Maeven made a pact re: putting each others' souls to rest if either should arise as Scourge, as both were terrified of returning as undead. During this time, Maeven joined a band of adventurers to confront and kill Onyxia and was nearly felled by an attack from the Black Brood. He developed a degenerative disease, and retired to Aerie Peak.

The portal to Outland was opened, and the Wildhammers ventured forth. Wracked with pain by the black dragon poison, Maeven chose to die in battle, and he joined the Wildhammers in Outland. He fell fighting bone wyrms in Outland, rescued just in time by a Draenei and brought to Shattrath City, healed by the Naaru and pressed into their service. Maeven was notified by an old friend from Lost Order that plague has broken out in Azeroth..and that Sabren had made her way into the Plaguelands to try and battle against the Scourge forces but has not been heard from since.

Maeven rushed back to Azeroth and immediately made his way to the Eastern Plaguelands, seeking out information on Sabren's whereabouts. He discovered she was sent forth to investigate rumours of where the plague began, and was being put on call to venture to Northrend, but could not be found.

Maeven himself ventured into the Plaguelands and was felled attempting to push back the Scourge – not without considerable difficulty, thanks to his blessing from the Naaru - then re-risen by Arthas into a death knight. His will under Arthas' power, Maeven fought as a instrument of the Scourge. As a result, he was present at the battle at Light's Hope and was soundly defeated. He joined the renegade knights of Ebon Hold and took a new name: Ellemayne.

Ellemayne discovered Sabren buried in Light's Hope, a victim to plague. Ellemayne had her corpse excavated and interred in Stormwind Chapel as he had promised. He reclaimed the locket he had fashioned for her many years ago, and wears it round his neck to this day.
