Appearance

Varying outfits depending on the occasion. She lives a double life and may appear as anything from a beggar, commoner or merchant to her obvious dark clothes with a long cape and a hood that covers most of her face is a dark shadow. The only, but rarely visible common trait in all of her disguises is a small worn-down golden locket around her neck.

Personality

Ashley looks and behaves as your everyday girl apart from having no fear of heights or doing some insane stunt leap to make an escape. You might actually think she is a little bit insane for being such a daredevil, but she's really an adrenaline fiend.

Calling her a murderer would be wrong (for now), however she is already known for being able to kill if she felt like doing it. She really doesn't have much problem with maiming someone or scaring someone half to death. However, she isn't evil at heart at all, it's just that certain things can be easily bought with a little bit of money... well... a lot of it when it comes to donating most of it, if not all of it to an orphanage. It is for a good cause in the end - the kids, kids like she once was. The end justifies the means for her. The only things that would cause her to kill someone in cold blood without giving them a chance to make amends are slavery and threatining children.

Ashley has a tendency to have a sharp tongue in some situations, but she sounds the oddest when she mugs people just for fun; for the sport as she calls it because she rarely takes anything. She just wants the person to surrender their worthy possessions and that's that. And she does all this in a proper and polite manner which often seems shocking if not provocative to some. She's been called crazy for her fake mugging many times, but for her it's great amusement to see others cough up their posessions.

In spite of it all she is a very trustworthy person to friends. If she promised something - she will see it through to the end. You could share your biggest secret with her and she would take it to the grave. Trust is something she will never give up for anything... EVER. PERIOD. That's why it can prove hard to earn her trust first.

History

Ashley can't recall much about her early childhood. She seems to be sure that her full name is Ashley Wright and the only thing she has from those times is a golden locket which she can't unlock and breaking it open is out of the question. She was an orphan as far as she can remember. She had to get everything she needed herself. No surprise she became a thief. Though, it wasn't long till someone finally caught her and sent her to the orphanage. Sadly, she hated it there; the children would tease her because they knew she was a thief.

It wasn't long till she escaped and almost immediately she went back to stealing, but this time she was more careful and slowly she started to perfect her skills. Still at a young age she prowled around the streets of Lordaeron by herself, stealing from anyone that had something at the reach of her fingers with no regard to whom they were: old, young, noble, peasant.

A few years passed like that, and one evening Ashley was following a man along the market, getting ready to deprive him of his fairly large gold sack. He looked all spiffy in his shiny armor and he had a rather large blade, his hair was already slightly grey and Ashley thought that he was old, slow and wouldn't notice her stealing his money. Slowly she started to make her way towards him, ready to go for the gold; ducking, crawling under market tables to get the prize. When she was finally in range, she stretched her hand out and to her surprise the man suddenly grabbed her hand without even looking back; it was as if he felt her reaching for the gold sack; she underestimated him greatly. He turned around and looked directly at Ashley's eyes as she was struggling to break free of his grip, hitting him on the chest, trying to bite his arm.

The man didn't look angry with her at all, he simply smiled at her; maybe because he found her struggling to break free of his grip funny? In truth he was kind and understanding. The man kept smiling at Ashley as she continued struggling, but he didn't mind as he introduced himself as Reynard Driscol. After that Ashley settled down a little, finally understanding that she wasn't going anywhere. When Ashley finally stopped resisting, the man told her that she could have enough money if she was willing to come with him and work for him and only him. With large hesitation she agreed; it's better than risking being turned over to the guards at the age she was.

First it was great as she would run small errands, clean around Reynard's office, polish his blade and armor or even do sowing because Leanne wouldn't even bother to do that for her husband. She was being homeschooled and taught how to fight, track, spy, read, write; all this and being paid. Her skills grew along with her. But under this paradise was a little flame of hell as Reynard's wife - Leanne Driscol hated Ashley for the simple reason of her being an orphan and a thief from the street. Long she tried to get rid of Ashley, but Reynard would stop her every time, saying that she was his responsibility and the rest of the family like Diandra didn't have a problem with her being around.

Sadly, a few years later the war began and Reynard had to leave to fight alongside the armies of the Alliance. To her grief, Ashley was left at the mercy of Leanne. She treated Ashley as a slave. No more payment, no more kindness, only suffering and punishment for each failure, no matter how small. Leanne ruled Ashley with an iron fist, bending her and crushing her will so she would fear her like a sheep fears a wolf. Leanne was successful; Ashley feared her and she became nothing more to Leanne than a slave to push around and taunt.

When Diandra finally ran away from home, Ashley was sent to track her and bring her back to Leanne. Yet, her childhood friend reminded her that she was a person, not a slave giving her back her freedom. However, the fear of being captured by Leanne and being punished for everything still haunts Ashley.
