Personality

Zuli is a laid-back, casual troll. Sometimes wary of new people, he can be abrasive to begin with, but quickly opens up to new faces, and is a loyal and fiercely devoted friend. He follows those he respects and believes in to the end, and fears for his friends before himself. Although he seems to befriend many, there are few that he truly respects, and many that he simply refers to as associates. When it comes to enemies, he is a savage and ruthless foe, with a mantra of 'stab first, and no questions asked'. He has an extreme hatred for Night Elves. He is a practitioner of cannibalism, but doesn't reveal this lightly; he knows it is looked down upon, and shrouds the topic in secrecy as best he can. His three loves are battle, blacksmithing, and his wolf, 'Anarchy'.

History

Zuli was born the son of a warrior captain of the Darkspear. He was raised as a shaman, taught the ways of the spirits and simple earth magic, in the hope that he would lead the tribe to a glorious era of wealth and prosperity. He was named after two shamans from the stories passed around the bonfires at night; Zulisa and Zashizu. He received many verbal slurs from the other children, who teased his exceedingly long name. When he reached the age of fourteen he lashed out at the younger warriors for this harassment. When his father noticed his proficiency with a blade, he initiated him into the warrior ranks; totally disregarding the shamanistic ways of his earlier childhood.

He was trained by a wise old troll known as Leyujin Ogouran, a troll mighty enough to bear a last name. When Zuli asked his master about the name, he discovered it meant warrior in what he called 'the Old Tongue'. Zuli quickly became one of Leyujin's favourite students, and he bestowed his names upon those he considered worthy. Apart from Zuli, only 3 received the title of 'Leyujin Ogouran'; an honour indeed.

On the night of the ceremony which would initiate him into adulthood in the tribe, he was confronted by an elemental being of wind and lightning, which tried to kill him. A lucky thrust with his blade slew the elemental, which revealed itself to him in an out-of-body experience. The elemental showed Zuli why it had attacked him - an order from its' master, an assassin within the tribe jealous of his father's attention. The elemental thanked Zuli for freeing it, and bestowed his blade with the essence of its' heart.

Zuli took his reborn blade with pride back to the village, to find his home ablaze, and groups of his own people fighting each other. He saw his father slay the those who assailed his mother, only to be brought down by three foes. His father's personal guard, Jaiza, rushed him to safety. Zuli escaped across the strait with his life, but the rest of his family and their supporters fell under the heel of the attackers. He swore vengeance upon them, and set off into the forest to find assistance.

When a goblin chanced upon him, Zuli's life turned around. The goblin took him under his wing, and taught him how to speak basic orcish. He reluctantly agreed to join the crew on the ship the goblin sailed on; the Blackmoon, captained by a fierce orc named Ukorr Blackmoon. Aboard the ship, Zuli quickly made friends, and learned a balanced yet fearsome fighting style. When he was 22 years of age, the crew disbanded; many had died in raids, and the captain's wife bore a child. Nobody was game enough to try and lead, so a mutual parting of ways took place.

Zuli enlisted in the army of the Horde, being a foreigner in the land on Kalimdor. He spent a long while making friends within the army, usually posted on simple guard and patrol missions throughout Durotar and The Barrens. As he gained more worldly knowledge throughout his travels, he began to understand the workings of culture outside of the trolls and pirates. Still, this failed to quench his thirst for battle, and he constantly sought foes to wreak havoc upon. When his squad was ambushed near the Ashenvale border, he was honourably discharged due to what was labelled 'post-traumatic stress', even though he considered himself able enough to fight.

He packed up his sword and armour, and wandered. He knew that one day, he would be strong enough to bring vengeance to those who killed his family. Until then, he would simply travel, taking with him the words his master imparted on him before his death;

"Heroes don't need pay."
