Worthington Menshill is a 38-year-old Human Demonologist. He is played by Jonoth.

History

Worthington was born in Stormwind. Growing up in the city, he was scrawny, and often bullied by other kids his age and older. His parents were no help, as they were often too drunk to know or care where their child was. His only solice was in the library, where he read tales of heroes and magic. He knew from the start that he was too small to be a warrior, but magic could be within his grasp! He found any information he could, and pestered any travelling mage that came through. But the defining moment would come when Stormwind was attacked by the Orcs to signal the First War. He saw the raw power of the Orcish warlocks and their demonic guardians, and he knew that was what he wanted.

His first step was Dalaran, where he would take advantage of the vast knowledgebase in the arcane. In public, he became a budding conjurer, bringing forth food and drinks and other useful things. But in private, he worked and studied to summon the demon beasts he had seen invade his old home. Just when he was beginning to crack the secrets he sought, Archimonde brought down the great city of Dalaran, laying it to ruins. Worthington was mortified, and in his state of fear he cut his wrists, the blood trickling down on to a crude summoning circle he was working on, causing it to glow. Adrenaline rushing from this development, he cried out for aid to save him. From this he summoned his first demon: a voidwalker, the manifestation of the large looming shadow he had always felt. On the doorstep of death already, he dared command the voidwalker to haul him near safety in return for his soul and a pledge to help bring more of its kind to the mortal plane. In control of the shadow, he felt a power he never knew before. With a new desire to live and the assistance of the demon, he was narrowly saved from bleeding out.

Worthington returned to Stormwind after it was rebuilt, devoting himself to it's libraries and seeking greater knowledge. He would eventually find his way to the Slaughtered Lamb tavern in Stormwind, within it a community of warlocks that for the first time made him feel not out of place. He studied under anyone who would answer his questions, and continued much of his trial and error research. He got tattoos on his lower arms to hide his attempted suicide from inquisitive folks. While still afraid of confrontation, he does not fear the consequences of his research, and he drives on, not knowing when the power he seeks to control will begin to control him, and not knowing when his demonic minion will seek to overtake it's master.

Worthington is a bookworm, spending most of his time buried under mounds of tomes trying to learn as much as he can on the field of magic. He's a bit of a paradox, as he is quick to jump into action if he can witness and study things firsthand, but will shy away as he becomes more aware of the gravity of the danger he's in. He's also in constant fear of the debt he must repay to his voidwalker, knowing that someday the voidwalker will collect whether he can fulfill the deal completely or not.
