Appearance

Worden has adopted the fact his previous life has been buried forever, and a new life of misery and hate has emerged from the soil. He adorns himself in various tones of black and red as a constant reminder of the darkness that lives inside of his soul, and the blood of the living that he will spill. For the sake of movement, Worden will never really wear anything heavier than studded leather, unless going into an all out war, during which he would adopt a layer of chain mail over vital areas of the body.

Other: He tends to wear a black cape and hood, as if he is disgusted by his own appearance and feels he needs to hide it from the rest of the world.

Personality

Worden is a dedicated, headstrong individual. Many of his traits have seeped into his current personality from the old days when he was a successful farmer. When given at ask, he will never quit until the job is done, as any good worker would do, but since undeath took hold, he adopts an obsessive passion to complete the mission at hand, perhaps even going to the length of life or death.

During his farming days bandits often raided his fields, so Worden has taught himself to have a sharp eye, however this useful trait has mutated into a heavy shrewdness that rarely allows anything to escape his thoughts or sight; expect everything you say or do to be questioned when in the presence of Worden.

In Worden's free time, he used to write stories and poetry. One could say he even prided himself on the work he did. Undeath also mutated this creative perspective and he now speaks as if writing his own story, always in third person. Often will Worden replace the words "I", "My", "Mine", "Myself", and other possessive words with his own name; "Worden".

One of Worden's few negative traits as a living human was his short temper. When around Worden, you chose your words carefully so not to offend this burly farmer who would probably drag you into the barn, chop you up, and feed you to the wolves had you said something to offend him. You could say he was feared for his anger, but the love of his life, Evelyn Lightheart, was always able to calm him down if things began to get out of hand. They used to call her Worden's Warden. When Worden rose from the grave, his short temper blazed into a nearly constant and ferocious anger towards all living creatures. When a living being enters his sight, rarely does Worden hold himself together enough to stay in the room, or hold back his violent intentions.

Worden Darkheart is intelligently insane.

History

Once upon a time Worden Darkheart was known as Warden Lightheart. He lived on a farm in Lordaeron with a beautiful wife. He was successful and passionate about all that he did. However, all good things come to and end, don't they?

One day his wife grew fatally ill after eating some bread she made from the imported grain, which was supposed to be of better quality than his own. After a few days, she died in his arms and Worden's heart shatter. He stumbled out of the bedroom and fell to his knees, sobbing heavily. However, his mourning was interrupted by sounds coming from the room behind him. He rose, "Evelyn?!", and ran into the bedroom to find her transformed into a walking corpse. That day Worden murdered, so to speak, his own wife, in order to save his own life. He would never be the same again...

Worden turned into a blank slate. He rarely spoke and what he said was always negative. He slid into a deep depression, but still fought against the Scourge with ferocity. Soon enough, Worden became ill and knew that death was on his doorstep. Worden refused to rest, and, one day, volunteered to watch the gates of the town he once lived that they transformed into a small stronghold. While walking back from his watch Worden, feeling more weak than he had ever, feeling the life slip from his body, blacked out. That was the very last memory Worden would have of life as he knew it...

When Worden regained consciousness he saw flames around him, corpses littering the earth, buildings destroyed, and undead zombies devouring the fallen townsfolk. He was so shocked, he could do nothing but stand and watch. While doing so, he realize that this wasn't his home town, and he had no idea where he was. Slowly, the other undead stood, and began to show the same reaction as Worden was. Some began to scream, some cried, and some said nothing at all, falling backward onto the ground, slumped over, filled with misery and confusion. Worden wondered why he was so cold in the midst of all the flames, and glanced down to see what he was wearing.

He saw a ravaged, rotting corpse that was his own body. He began to look at his hands, the pointed, bloody, boney fingers looked more like claws. He began to realize what had become of him. As if knowing, he turned and walked out of the burning, ruined town, followed by many more in the same state of mind as he. On their march, they met up with Sylvanas Windrunner and her band of undead forces. He and those with him joined their ranks and began battling the undead.

While fighting the dead, Worden began to see humans battling them as well, but they were making no distinction between the "Forsaken", the band of undead he had joined with Sylvanas, and the Scourge. They killed both them alike, seeing them both as monsters and atrocities. This is when the ball hit home for Worden, and he realized fully what he had become. From that point on, Worden Lightheart transformed into the chaotic, sadistic, angered, miserable, rotten, shrewd, judgemental, and deadly being he is today. He began killing humans during the battle... and enjoyed it.

Years later, Worden Lightheart, or better known as "Darkheart" in remembrance of his wife and a constant reminder of what he's become, turned to be a valued member of the adopted religion of the Forsaken; The Forgotten Shadow. Establishing himself in Deathknell, the heart of the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow, he was often considered a perfect, unbiased tool to exact the intent of the Cult. His hatred and anger often was the fuel for many of his missions and even his discussions with the council. When word that Sylvanas Windrunner was planning to leave the Horde and join the Blood Elves in, what would be called the Sin'sholai, Worden Darkheart began to feel a rush of excitement and new kindled rage ran through his spirit. No longer would he have to pretend to accept the company of the Horde or tread softly when in the presence of its leaders. Now... Worden Darkheart could release himself upon the world without consequences.

Worden respected the Blood Elves enough to control himself around them due to their immense disrespect for the rest of the world. He viewed them as the only living race which possessed similar views and traits he found within himself and those he placed around himself. He is in full support of the Sin'sholai, and he plans to show that through his insidious, dark, and evil ways. "When every living race feels the pain that I've felt, done what I've done, died how I've died... then... I will be able to accept them for what they are... for what I have become... a monster..." - Worden Darkheart during his induction into the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow.
