Appearance

Widget is usually dressed in bright green plate armour and a helmet that covers his large head and masks most of his face. When not in full battle dress (which is rare) he normally wears a green shirt and average civilian clothing, as to not stick out any more than he already dose. Goggles are a hit or miss.

Other: As he is in that peculiar state between life and undeath that all Death Knights call home Widget's body is fairly light, mostly due to the lower amount of food needed to live in his current form. But hey, arcane half life isn't all bad, he's taken up drinking alcohol now that it can't hurt him or make him drunk. Too bad he can't really taste it.

Personality

Widget is an anomaly. He's a Death Knight that isn't a brooding, depressed sod. Well, on the outside at least. In public he still tires his best to put on the cheery and bright demeanor of a Gnome despite his crushing and world changing condition. Well, he tries to act as cheery as a Death Knight can be, which to most can sound at best sarcastic and at worst bitter and depressing. Dying has this odd effect on one's sense of humor. On the inside however Widget is a torn Gnome, his mind torn between 3 notions of his past: what little he remembers, what the Lich King implanted into him during his transformation and what he was told by the surviving members of the submarine crew he worked with in the Second War. His confusion and disrepair about all this is quite visible if you get to know him.

History

Before death Widget, like most of his kind had quite the inclination for machines. Not only did he love machines, but he loved the seas as well, which when the second war came around made him a prime candidate for the crews of one of the Alliance's stealthy aquatic war machines, the Gnomish submarine. Widget, once aware of this prime opportunity packed up his things and moved to Kul Tiras where he volunteered for the navy where he would meet his new crew and the vessel that he would prowl the seas with for the next few years, sinking ships that dare stand against the might of the Alliance.

But alas, this didn't last forever. After a particularly nasty scuffle on the high seas his ship was nearly destroyed, the majority of his crew was killed and he was wounded and placed in a coma up until his death. In his comatose state Widget essentially slept through the Third War and pretty much every major event up until recently. After staying most of his time in a chapel in Kul Tiras with other mortally wounded veterans of the second war he was eventually gave up on. So, the priests and other staff of the church, thinking them lost gathered the unconscious bodies of the old veterans, sailed out into the seas and put the bodies on one boat, while the others evacuated to a second, leaving the boat to drift the seas.

The ship wandered the seas for several days, the wounded on board dying off one by one due to lack of medical attention, slipping away in their sleep. The ship drifted for weeks until by chance it ended up in the north seas, where the corpse ship was intercepted by the phantom navy of the Lich King, full of potential corpses fresh dead with plenty of combat experience. And so Widget was raised up from his quiet death to serve as one of the cold and heartless Death Knights of the Scourge, in the command of one of the horrific Scourge war machines hurling bloodied corpses across the battlefield.

That is of coarse until the battle of Light's Hope and the founding of the Knights of the Ebon Blade. Soon, the short death machine, lost and without a master or a true cause returned to the lands of the Grand Alliance, first to the nation of Kul Tiras where he was greeted as a monster and a fiend. His return to Kul Tiras was obviously a short one due to that reason, leading to a bittersweet reunion with his old crew mates and a sketchy retelling to him of his own past, through stories he had told them and they had told back to him. Armed with the best knowledge of his past available and the best wishes of what he assumes where his friends, Widget departed for Ironforge where he heard his people had made their new home.
