She believes that each power in the world is as evil or good as the user of it. In recent times she has taken an interest in archaeology under the promise that should something happen, Lara would be there to keep her safe.

History

Roberta Veracruz was born as the only child to a small family of immigrants from Kul Tiras, now working as farmers. From an early age, Veracruz was a shy and timid girl. She helped her family to the best of her abilities. But they were poor, hampering the woman's proper growth of muscle. Her bad eyesight wasn't much aid either. Nonetheless, her parents did the best they could to support her and Veracruz grew up happy.

Until she was twelve. Her happy youth suddenly took a turn for the worst when the Scourge attacked. Her parents told her to run, willing to give their lives for their child. She ran as fast as her legs could carry. When she needed, she made sure there was no one around before resting and crying. Her days were lonely and sad. She knew she had lost everything.

After about a week, Veracruz came across a group of goblins, starving. She went against her better judgement and walked towards them. They saw the young girl and before she knew what happened, she was knocked out.

Veracruz awoke in a cage with a bowl of disgusting grub. She dug in, no idea what was in it and she couldn't care less. As disgusting and gruesome as it was, thanks to the fact Veracruz was starving, it was the best meal in her young life. After surviving on nothing but the grub for a week, Veracruz was eventually released from the cage, only to discover she was being sold as a slave. The man she was being sold to was a cruel, careless and greedy man and his family. They were looking for cheap labour. And they found it.

In the years that followed, Veracruz was repeatedly abused, often crying herself to sleep. She stole books and hid them under the wooden floor of her small, windowless room and taught herself to read. Eventually, she found books from her master concering the Shadow. Her self teachings were discovered by her master's son, who had secretly started to practice the Shadow himself and he threatened Veracruz to tell his father. She begged him not to, promising to do everything he wanted.

This was the start of a very strange friendship. But also the start of a tutelage. He started teaching Veracruz in the arts of Shadow use, to hide in plain sight, run faster than she ever did and to reappear behind her target. She studied for days and years before she could even hope to match him.

She heard of many heroics from her masters when she was serving them. Tales of heroics in Northrend, Outland and Kalimdor. For so long, she wished she could just leave to explore the world on her own. That's when she saw her chance. Deathwing arrived and the manor started to collapse and burn. Veracruz saw her lady die, then her master getting stuck under a beam of the building and their son mortally wounded under a burning bookcase. Her master begged Veracruz for help, offering her the best life she could imagine. Finally she dared to stand up to herself and punched him in the face before running to his son and trying to help him. But there was nothing Veracruz could hope to achieve and with his final breath, he told her to leave.

She started travelling, eventually finding herself in the Barrens. She found a female archaeologist, Lara, who just finished appraising several items and decided to check the Barrens. She was intrigued by the archaeologist, her profession and the travels she took. In exchange for the promise that Veracruz would be taught and kept safe by the woman, the two decided to travel and work together. Their future remains to be seen.
