Appearance

Veia tends to wear matte greys and blacks; simple attire that covers as necessary and isn't too extravagant. However, she does make sure to wear her Undercity tabard and plain grey hood at all times.

Veia keeps a dagger of fine craftsmanship at her hip; once ornate and plated in gold, the blade has now been defaced, the precious metal covered in plain leather, and the holy inscription rubbed away and replaced by a black litany. She also carries a soft leather satchel of simple, practical make: this houses the various tomes she happens to be studying at the time.

Personality

Veia's churchly past has heavily affected her personality in death. Once a celibate, faithful, impressionable young woman, Veia is now a reserved, wilful and cunning priest of the Forgotten Shadow. Though she is quiet and only speaks when it is necessary, Veia's mind races with possibility and consideration. Her years of mind-strengthening practices have more than done their duty: though she is physically frail, she has a will of steel.

Veia takes pleasure in little, a side effect of her zealous faith in both life and death. However, she is strongly interested in furthering the plight of both the Forsaken in general and the Church of the Forgotten Shadow. She finds little interest in martial or mental prowess, and is generally scornful of those she deems silly or unworthy. A strong pragmatist, Veia puts logical action ahead of most everything: where most priests wear lavish robes, Veia wears simple, practical attire, for example.

Veia is a book collector, and relishes studying and collecting rare tomes. Though her main focus lies in religious tomes, she is interested and knowledgeable in the history of Azeroth, and enjoys a good fiction read every now and then.

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

History

Born to two members of the clergy, Veia was raised by most of the regulars at her church in the north-west district of Capital City, Lordaeron. She spent the best part of her childhood being educated in matters of the Light and how good and just it was. She was fascinated with it; witnessing the power the elder priests had over the masses with their charisma awed and inspired her. Needless to say, she begun training to be part of the clergy from a young age.

A boring, predictable life was perfect for Veia and her parents. The daily schedule consisted of prayer, study, prayer, study, and the bodily necessities. Sometimes she would aid charity work; sometimes she would travel with her father (a bishop, you see) to the townships surrounding the city of Lordaeron to spread the holy word. This was heaven for the impressionable teenager; Veia soaked up everything she could in life, and life was the church. There was nothing else.

Veia saw herself quickly promoted into the holy hierarchy; though having a bishop for a father no doubt played a part, she was, in truth, an excellent candidate for the clergy. Indeed, she was well on her way to becoming a bishop in her adolescence. However, this was not to last. Sent out urgently to aid those affected by a freak, mysterious onset of plague, Veia was amongst the unlucky few to witness the first turnings. She and her father were not able to escape Brill before they too were killed and raised.

A little over a year passed as a mindless slave to the Lich King's will. A life of compassion and charity had not prepared Veia for such a brutal, malevolent existence, and the time that passed is not a time that is easy to remember, let alone recount, for her. Needless to say, when her free will was abruptly given back to her by her tyrant's weakening will she was so very lost and helpless that she latched on to the first non-Scourge authority she was exposed to: Sylvanas.

Some time passed, and she regained her wits. Vowing with her newfound brothers and sisters to destroy the Scourge for what they had done, the Forsaken retreated to the land they once called home. Veia did her best to help with rebuilding, but her mind was occupied; what she had once found solace in, the Light, was distant from her. It felt wrong, but she ignored the feeling and kept working on the problem. In the end, she did manage to overcome herself - though harnessing the Light caused her great pain and was scorned by many of her fellow Forsaken, her familiarity with it brought her comfort in the tumultuous times.

Times progressed, and so did Veia. She found a home in a new church - the move was not a surprise to anyone - the Forgotten Shadow. The betrayal she felt of the Light, for its abandonment, was dampened by the new faith. She studied and worked hard, eventually leaving Deathknell to spread her religion to other Forsaken all around Lordaeron - and so she did, until Northrend. Naturally, she was not a soldier for the front-line, but she travelled there nonetheless; whether to aid her fallen brothers with healing, magical support and inspiring hymns or to exercise vengeance upon the hated Scourge remains a mystery, though it's most likely a combination of the two.

The Lich King was dead, and so was his empire. The Forsaken returned home victorious, but empty. Many found little purpose in life. Veia was not one of them; her churchly duties more than occupied her, and her quiet optimism for the future of the Forsaken continues to push her.

Skills and Abilities

A being of exceptional willpower, Veia sets her focus on strength of mind and thought: equally able to harness either side of priestly magic, she focuses on creating a healthy balance between the two aspects of her lifestyle. In particular, her talents lie in the less direct spells such as shields, buffs and hyms: Veia's singing voice lingers in death, allowing her to inspire her allies with divine chants and songs.

Veia is literate and is excellent at transcribing and studying the many tomes she has collected over the years.
