Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Vaethor is a very calm Kaldorei. His hatred for anything that isn't Kaldorei, especially Orcs, Sin'Dorei and magic, still burns within, but he does not show it, unless pressured. He has, over the years, taken on aspects of his Totemic focus. His movements have slowed, as well as his speech. He is never quick to action, and will often reply to a question long after it was asked, simply because he became lost in thought, or drifted off into a light slumber. He has become even more in-tune with nature, and therefore is emotionally hurt whenever the smallest blade of grass is crushed underfoot. He is very much a pacifist, and would rather not be forced into battle, yet, if push comes to shove, he has the ability to restrain his foes until help can arrive. He spends most of his time struggling to purify the nature around himself, as well as rebuild Ashenvale Forest.

History

Vaethor was born in the several millenia prior to the War of the Ancients. Having lived in the forests of Northern Ashenvale for his entire life thus far, he was raised to be one with the forest around him. He loved it, and he believed it loved him in return for his love for it. He spent most of his time surrounding himself with nature, escaping to live in it for long periods of time. He reached adulthood with no incident, and continued on his way through life, generally carefree and happy.

Several millenia passed, and Vaethor was nearing three-thousand years old. The formerly beautiful Queen Azshara became wretched and ugly, secluded and spiteful, hating everyone but her precious Highborne. As the Queen and her advisors began to delve deeper into the powers of the Well of Eternity, they attracted deeper, darker secrets. They awoke things that should never have been awoken to begin with.

The darkest, most destructive force in all of the Great Dark Beyond had been attracted to Azeroth by Azshara and her people's rampant use of magic. Sargeras, the Dark Titan, reached out to Azshara and promised her even a small amount of his power, if only she would summon him to Azeroth. She began the ritual, almost immediately. This act brought the beginnings of the Demonic hordes to Azeroth, and the lower castes of the Kaldorei formed a resistance movement to save their Queen. Malfurion and Illidan sought the help of the great demigod, Cenarius, son of Elune and Malorne. He was to lend his aid, in the form of his sons and daughters, the Dryad, and the Keepers of the Grove. He also sought out the help of the Dragon Aspects, who readily lent their support.

Vaethor saw much bloodshed during this time, and participated in much of it himself. He slowly began to resent the war that had broken out, and chose to leave the front lines, some few dozen miles from Zin'Azshari. He moved back, and began helping tend to the wounded. It was during this time that he gained the desire to help people, to the best of his ability. It took some weeks, but not long after he left the front lines, a deafening explosion wracked the continent of Old Kalimdor. The Well of Eternity, source of Azshara's power, had imploded. Vaethor's already natural adversion to Arcane reached an all-time high, as he watched his lands slide into the sea, and an ever-growing arcane hurricane form in the distance. The stench of Arcane disgusted him, and made him vomit. This feeling has stuck with him, even until this day.

A short period of time later, Cenarius allowed his daughters, the Dryad, to begin to distribute knowledge of Nature magic, in the form of Druidism. Wanting an alternative to the destructive Arcane to become widely accepted, Vaethor became the first in his village to pick up, and train in, Druidism. Some wished to use it as a method to kill their opponents easier; Vaethor looked upon those individuals with disdain, and instead chose to use his now-expanding knowledge of Druidism to restore the Forest he knew, and loved, for his entire young life. He spent many centuries after the ending of the War of the Ancients struggling, by himself, to perfect his magic of Restoration. He began to view himself as better than the rest of the Druids who did not follow his path, and instead chose to be more violent in their usage of the magic. It was during the first century of his training as a Druid that Vaethor chose to create a Totem, and specialize himself as a Druid of the Grove.

When Vaethor was just entering the fifth millenia of his life, another brutally ugly war broke out, with the Aqir to the south. This became known as the War of the Shifting Sands. Vaethor begrudgingly travelled south to meet the conflict, but stayed behind lines, the same as he had during his time at the end of the War of the Ancients. The only difference between this time, and the last, was that Vaethor had more power to heal his people. He had the healing magic of Nature, as compared to bandages and salves. He used his knowledge to quickly heal as many men as possible, and get them out to battle as soon as possible. Sadly, this began to take its toll, as Vaethor began to decline. He began to tire more easily, and slowly slid into a coma, where he remained for some months, until after the end of the war.

Several months following the end of the War of the Shifting Sands, Vaethor awoke, in his village, in Northern Ashenvale. He had been returned by the military, and taken care of by his family. He awoke in the middle of the night, and subsequently disappeared, not showing his face to his family again. They would be long-dead before he returned to his village. He moved into the forest, and set about perfecting his shapeshift of choice, the Treant. He began to heavily specialize in it, forgetting any prior knowledge he had of most forms of combat. He allowed himself to retain the ability to use vines and roots in nature to his advantage, even growing more powerful in his use of them. He also began work on perfecting his healing magic. He began spending much, much more time in the Emerald Dream.

Seven years ago, untold millenia later, Vaethor awoke from the Emerald Dream along with his brothers to participate in the Third War, performing his usual task of healing the wounded. When Malfurion caused the explosion of the World Tree, Nordrassil, Vaethor took a heavy blow. He felt deeply connected to everything natural, and began to weep at the loss of the greatest specimine of Nature ever to exist. He has begun to age slowly since that day, and has since returned to his state of living among the natural world. In very recent times, he met with the Oathkeepers, which he has joined with to help save the Kaldorei people.

Skills and Abilities

Vaethor is specialized heavily as a Totemic of the Grove. His powers over all things feral have waned, and his healing powers have expanded greatly. In general, he can cast more abilities, and maintain a Treant shapeshift for longer than many.
