Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good. Uriyak is a tauren who seeks harmony with all living creatures, devoting himself to being a positive influence everywhere he goes. He respect the laws, customs, and traditions of his faction, and will treat everything with kindness unless given a reason not to. Even then, his pacifistic disposition will always incline him to seeking a peaceful solution to any conflict.

Uriyak is a little “out there”, in terms of mannerisms. While he has no problems in regards to accent, the way he chooses to word things make it difficult for others to figure out exactly what he's talking about. But, beyond his odd method of communication, Uriyak is a compassionate soul who sees the good in all things. He treats all with respect and dignity, doing all he can to help.

He will even extend this kindness to members of other factions, although he never goes into the neutral territories as he finds the goblin cities....confusing.

The only other notable thing about Uriyak's personality is that he is a complete pacifist by nature. While his shamanic training allowed him to commune with all the elements of nature, he has chosen to bond with the art of restoration the most. He devotes himself fully to the path of a healer, never seeking to harm another, even in self defense. This sort of behavior has caused others to label him as a naive fool. Though some give him great praise for the endless care he gives to his fellow Horde.

History

Uriyak was like any other Tauren born in Mulgore. He was raised in a loving tribe, taught the teachings of the Earthmother, and was raised as a typical Tauren through out most of his child hood. Taught to hunt, forge, and survive in the elements, Uriyak grew up with the usual value system his people are known for. Peace. Introspection. Respect for nature. Disdain for waste. Survival. The tauren's early life was a journey in coming to learn all of these values, something he still holds deep within his heart.

It wasn't until the young calf (( Is that a correct way to refer to him as?)) came of age that he began to realize something troublesome. Something did not feel right whenever he killed an animal. Though his tribe never wasted any part of a slain beast and honored it's sacrifice to them, Uriyak felt something pang within him every time something fell by his bow. It was in this realization that Uriyak began to learn of his inner nature. He....was simply not a killer. While he understood the necessity of an animal's death for the sustenance of his people, the whole process of the hunt brought too much pain within his heart. Along with an unsettling question....

If he was unable to kill an animal, how would he expect to kill an enemy?

It was a dilemma which troubled Uriyak. But after much meditation and communication with his elders, his path slowly became clear. He would put down his bow and pick up a totem, learning to connect himself with the spirits of nature. A shaman.

This was something the Tauren spent years doing. It was an intense set of both physical, spiritual, and mental trials, pushing him to the limits in said categories. After a few decades worth of grueling challenges, Uriyak was finally able to develop a perfect balance with the spirits of nature. Becoming at peace with the elements.

It was here that the tauren's journey truly began. During his meditative states, he continued to reflect on the beast he could not slay. The train of thought took him to countless possibilities. Confusion. Fear in the idea that he would not be able to protect his kin when the time came. As he meditated on this postulation, he began to come to realize other things. Goblins. Demons. Industrialism. Banditry. Mages. Kingdoms. Warfare...

The world held so much destruction. So much pain. So much senseless violence and annihilation, spoiling the Earthmother's sacred beauty. Bringing suffering onto the planet and it's inhabitants. Though he was not well-traveled, the tauren was able to feel it well enough. Destruction was constantly reigning, and the reason why he could not bring himself to harm other beings, was because he did not want to create add more onto it.

With this insight reached, Uriyak decided what kind of shaman he would become. A healer, in the purest sense of the term. Concentrating all of his energies in studying the healing properties of herbs and meditating at the rejuvenating hot springs of Mulgore, Uriyak honed his restoration arts. Broken bones, skin, severe gashes, poison, blood loss; Uriyak learned to treat them all over time. With careful magic and herbal knowledge.

As the years passed and his skills became known amongst his people, he was granted the surname “Soothe Giver”. This was attributed to his charitable nature and absolute devotion towards healing, the young shaman working very diligently to mend all wounds of his kind, often without asking anything in return. Many praised him for his boundless generosity, compassion, and giving personality... ...but all in the tribe knew he would have to leave some day. Some were worried that Uriyak would be slaughtered when he stepped out into the world, due to his pacifist nature. Yet, steady in his resolve, the middle-aged shaman eventually made his inevitable leave from Mulgore to go help the rest of the Horde. He now wanders the barrens in a dirty shaman robe. With a satchel full of herbs and a pouch with barely any copper, Uriyak seeks to find his place in the larger world. Seeing if he could mend any of the multiple scars this world suffers from.

Oh, right. He also did a LOT of naturally occurring psychedelic drugs. I mean, a LOT. This was to help him commune with the spirits...and the reason for his spaced-out personality. Yep.
