Personality

Alignment: Neutral Evil

NOTE: I found choosing an Alignment pretty tricky, seeing as Terrence's motivations are neither evil nor good. He merely figures that the Forsaken Kingdom is entitled to work for it's own prosperity and power like any other nation. He does, however, lack a concept of Morals, and will as such not shy away from using methods viewed as evil by most others, merely because they're the most efficent ways to reach some obscure goal. After reading the in-depth explanations, I ended up finding Neutral Evil the most fitting alignment.

Terrence is, although mostly subconsciously, very influenced by his pre-death personality. Mostly, this is expressed by the way he clings to the parts of his old personality he used to think of as his defining traits - In effect, his obsession with logical thought. While this was mostly theorizing in life, in undeath he puts it to it's extremes, and carries it out - To Terrence, there is no reason not to do anything that trough cold reasoning can be proved as the most logical course of action. In life, he also took pride in showing off with his education and intelligence trough deliberately choosing intricate and unusual words. In Undeath, this is yet another thing he subconsciously is taking to an extreme. In addition to this, his education from his days amongst the living has formed the foundation of his beliefs and thinking. Terrence suspects that all of these things are but tricks played by his subconscious mind, still not having come to peace with his lack of life.

Terrence assumes that the little emotion he has left is merely illusions staged by his mind, in an attempt to reconnect with his humanity and simple faith in the Holy Light. Theorizing that such reactions might interrupt his logical thinking, he ignores it.

In addition to this, Terrence has a complete lack of morals, as well as no concept of right and wrong. This does not mean that Terrence's an evil person, merely that he simply can't see the logic behind such concepts anymore - The only things he takes into consideration when making decisions, is the efficiency and result. A consequence of this is that Terrence has figured out that theories about social economics is not the best way to aid the Kingdom in it's current state. Surrounded by enemies as it is, Terrence found that he'd be more useful aiding the effort to defend the Kingdom, and possibly extend it's influence to foreign lands. Lacking the strength required to be a regular warrior, Terrence has spent the last years adapting to the life of a rogue and assassin.

Terrence Northfold's a strong supporter of the Monarcy and the Queen, believing that a strong ruler is for the best of the Forsaken Kingdom's overall efficiency. Logically, he is struggling to maximize his usefulness to the Kingdom, both trough hard work, and spending all his money at new equipment in order to help keeping the wheels of industry running.

History

Terrence Northfold was the youngest son of a wealthy farmer and merchant, that owned an extensive estate in the Arathi Highlands. Not having the right to inherit anything, his father sent him to study at an early age, so that he could carve out his own living when time came. Terrence was not a good learner in his youth, mostly because he was a very poor listener, unless the subject interested him greatly. However, when Terrence grew older and got to control his studies and methods himself, he quickly grew into a rather sharp, if somewhat isolated, person. Mostly learning trough books and occasional conversations, Terrence studied a wide range of fields, although the only subjects that managed to hold his interest permanently were politics and social economics. After passing 23, Terrence got hired as a Clerk in the Lordaeron Capital. Trough the years, his somewhat unusual theories on economic strategies earned him a position amongst the myriad of consultants in the Lordaeron Bureaucracy, a position he held until the Capital City was razed during the first Scourge invasion.

Terrence was raised as a mindless zombie, and mostly roamed Tirisfal in the search for human survivors like so many other zombies. He does not remember anything of this, although he is fairly certain his efforts for the Scourge must have been something like that. His memory of his days amongst the living is much more vivid, although not perfect - He does not remember any details, merely the main events of his life, and the traits and interests he considered as most important to his character in the past. While he does not mean to do it, Terrence clings to what he can remember, although he now views these things in a new, cold and irresistibly logical light.

The last years, Terrence has been studying the arts of stealth and assassination, for reasons explained under Personality, and had moderate success. Mostly, his efforts have consisted of ambushing easy targets from the various groups offering resistance within the Kingdom itself, to wear on their numbers and morale. Although this has mostly been lone sentries and stragglers, he once got asked to assasinate a Scarlet Lieutenant, something he managed to carry out quite efficiently. This is something he attaches some pride to, although naturally, pride is just an illusion. It is, however, an illusion he enjoys and counciously preserves.
