Personality

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Brash, headstrong, stubborn, and bitter. These are the traits that have enabled him to survive for all this time, though unfortunately it is often what draws him to trouble most often. While originally a bright and cheerful child, the death of his family members and the time alone has caused him to become overly bitter and stubborn, only seeing the worst in everything. Withdrawn and often anti-social, Taladir often has trouble opening up to others as he thinks that they will simply drag him down or hinder his ultimate goal. Despite all the bravado and tough-guy image that he tries to put off, the man geniuinely cares for his own race and by extension, though not as much, the Alliance. Although he empathizes with most races and creatures that he comes across in his travels, he will almost never try to involve himself in a political argument or fight, favoring a neutral view when dealing with things. Despite having seen what happens to Demon Hunters as they fall to corruption, the man has never shaken his fear of being killed off and seeks to prolong his life for as long as possible in order to see his lifelong goal accomplished. Years of war and destruction have changed the man, though it can can be debated whether for better or for worse. Despite being a Demon Hunter, his life goal is not to seek the elimination of all demons but world peace in general, though that means a world without demons.

History

Born as a younger brother into the Moonclaw family, his childhood often consisted of a healthy competition between his elder brother as many siblings have. His father, a druid often Born as a younger brother into the Moonclaw family, his childhood often consisted of a healthy competition between his elder brother as many siblings have. His father, a druid often looked to his brother favourably as the elder brother showed a talent for druidism as he matured. Taladir however, showed no inherent potential to learn the druidic arts. This angered him, as his father now spent more and more time with his brother, leaving them less time to talk and train with each other. Eventually, he gave up trying to impress his father by trying to learn the art of Druidism, instead giving up magic for skill with a blade. When the war against the Silithid and Qiraji started up, Taladir was sent with his sibling to fight against them. They were quite often injured with Taladir protecting his brother as he healed and protected other injured members of the group.

After the war was over, and the threat in Tanaris subdued, Taladir went back home to continue training while his brother went to sleep in the Emerald Dream. His mother, now the only family he had that wasn't asleep, strongly dissaproved of his ways. Often saying that if he had simply spent more time training he would've been able to grasp Druidism. His training went on for years, only being interrupted by the beggining of the Third War. When he had heard news that Cenarius had been killed, the man's mind was clouded with rage, barely holding himself back at walking into the lumber camps by himself. Taladir was extremely confused, but also overjoyed as his brother was awakened from the Dream, happy as they met each other again.

His joy was short lived however, as they had to begin to defend their home against the threat of demons. It was near the ending of the war, when his father and brother fell to the demons. Both were killed as they retreated back to their base camps, being struck down by a Doomguard. Taladir looked on in horror as they were executed, only being held back by his allies and dragged back to the camp as he screamed and shouted. This event sparked his undying hatred for demons and anything allied to them, as after the war died out he often spent his time in the wilds cursing himself for not protecting his family.

In the heights of his anger, he searched Ashenvale for months for any signs of the Demon Hunters that had helped fight against the Legion. Luck was on his side it seems, as he wandered across a small campsite. The hunter was less than pleased to find the elf however, regarding him as a nusiance. Taladir approached the man warily, slightly worried and scared. However, his need for vengeance won out in the end, as he told the man his story and expressed his desire to be taken as an apprentice. The Demon Hunter refused at first, not willing to sentence another person to a similiar fate as his. Taladir was not put off however, and continued to trail the man for weeks on end without much rest despite constant refusals. Eventually Taladir grew tired of being told off and found his way to Demon Fall Canyon, prepared to slay a lesser demon and present it to the hunter in order to show is worth. As he crept around, he was startled and then chased by a rampaging infernal. Bruised and battered, as he was flung against a wall, the Elf steeled himself to face his impending death. Death never came however, as the same hunter he had been trailing saved him just in the nick of time. Shocked and speechless, Taladir gazed upon the man with wide eyes. The other Elf walked off with a slight grunt, pausing as he realized Taladir was still sitting. "... If you don't want those wounds to get infected, you'll come with me..." A long pause followed before the man spoke the two words that would change his life. "Initiate."

Training was literally a living hell, as Taladir was often pushed beyond his limits. Even with his earlier training, nothing had ever been quite like this. However, this only served to strengthen his body and mind, as he would often dream about the day that he would be able to strike down the last demon and satisfy his lust for revenge. At first, time seemed to pass by slowly with the knowledge test and physical training slowly crawling past. When it came time for him to actually track and hunt down demons however, time flew by. Hours turned into days, which then turned into weeks. Taladir eventually lost track of time, the only way for him now was to keep track of how long his beard was as he shaved it whenever it grew past a stubble. In between the battles, the man felt nothing. There was no anger, no disgust but simply nothingness. Then came time for the first binding, the act of engraving runic tattoos onto his flesh with the blood of a slain demon. Taladir took his time, patiently stalking and waiting for a demon that he would see fit to bind in his body. He came along a weakened Doomguard, and slowly drew his blades. Several hours later, the Elf came back to the cave he and his master were hiding in with the head of the demon. His teacher nodded silently before taking the demon's head and beggining the ritual. The pain was nothing he could describe in words, nothing he could've prepared for and it caught him by surprise. Throughout the week that he spent in recovery, he felt nothing. It was as if a void had been created in his body and it felt as if it was slowly drawing in his energy and his life force. He fought back, realizing that he was slowly succumbing to the demonic influence in his body. As he carefully picked himself up on the last day, he gazed down at the shimmering green markings for a while before allowing himself a small smirk.

The remaining tests would be easy, Taladir had thought to himself. He began to feel overconfident, snarking at lesser demons and doubting the stronger ones. However, his confidence was smashed as he gazed at the dagger he was presented in order to gain the Cursed Vision all Demon Hunters had. His hand started to tremble as he gazed down at the pond, taking the time to look one last time at his amber eyes. He slowly brang the dagger up to his eyes, his mind never once pausing in it's thought of his family before he pushed the knife into his eyes. As Taladir's world went dark for several minutes, the elf was terrified. His mind thought of the posibility of the ritual malfunctioning. Maybe he hadn't pushed it deep enough and was blinded, and was to be killed for failure. As the elf panicked, his heart skipped a beat as bright colors slowly flooded back to illuminate his world. His mouth slowly formed a grim smile as he weakly gestured to his master. "You look like one of them." The last thing he saw was a vibrantly colored fist flying his way before he blacked out.

Over time, Taladir lost most of his humor as the training progressed. After all, it's hard to joke about things when getting chased by an rampaging Infernal. However, the man never thought he would have to fight one of his own kind as the final test. "Consider a graduation requirement, like how the humans say it." His master quipped with a smirk as he shooed his apprentice away. As the days passed, Taladir was worried that he would not be able to find it. However, as he lay on the ground trying to sleep that night, he was attacked by the very person he was trying to hunt. The former demon hunter, now having mutated horns and wings along with cloven feet was a terrible sight and it shook Taladir to the core. "This is going to happen to me...?" He thought, and in that moment of distraction, the mutated elf attacked. Glaives clashed and sparks flew as the two warglaives bounced off each other. Taladir was muscular, but his several weeks of training was nothing in comparison to the strength the other hunter had gained through years of hunting demons. As Taladir was slammed into a rock, the mutated hunter gloated at him. It cackled, taking it's time to crack his knuckles before metamorphosizing. If Taladir had eyes, they would've bulged out of their sockets at the sight. If there were any traces of what the hunter had been in his normal form, it was gone now. Replaced with a massive being covered in a form fitting 'cloak' of shadows which scared even Taladir. However, despite his overwhelming fear, his own voice spoke to him from inside his head. "You have faced the Legion and it's warhounds before. You have looked death in it's eyes several times, and you tremble in your kilt at the sight of this thing? Do not retreat, for you will fail. Cower, and it will have won. Face it, and fight it. No outcome is set in stone." Taladir got to his feet, picking up his glaives before turning to face the demon hunter. A rumbling chuckle filled the air before the fight resumed. Blood was spilled, grunts and roars filled the air.

Taladir finally noticed something as he was batted several meters away by a massive fist. The hunter had sacrificed massive strength in exchange for his speed and agility that was so coveted by their kind. As Taladir slowly staggered to his feet, dropping the glaive as he grimly noted his left arm had been dislocated. The other hunter roared, leaping towards him with his claws outstretched. Taladir gripped his glaive before running forward to meet it. As he neared however, he dropped onto his knees and stuck his glaives into the air above him. He slid right under the mutated hunter, his glaive gutting it as he slid under. His master tapped his fingers against his knee in impatience as he waited for his student to come back. His thoughts were interrupted as a figure stumbled into the cave. It was Taladir. His left arm had been dislocated and fractured in several places along with cuts, scrapes and bruises everywhere, but he was alive. As he finished recovering, his master offered him the heart of the Demon Hunter, revealing that he had gone out to retrieve it. Dark visions plagued him as he swallowed the blood. Thoughts on what happened, and what could've happened, visions of a Legion infested future and whispers of untold power if he joined with them. The man lay in a sleepless state for a whole week, pale and shivering as he burned up with a fever. As he recovered, he slowly sat up and was allowed several days of rest before doing the final ritual.

Passing the training and now considered a full fledged Demon Hunter, the man made his way back to Ashenvale where he sought out his remaining family. To his surprise, he couldn't find anything pertaining his mother and remaining cousins. Now truly alone in this world and hearing word of the Dark Portal's reopening, the man packed his bags along with a week's supply of food and made way for the Blasted Lands. He now resides in the shattered world of Outland, only occasionally wandering back to protect Ashenvale and whatever demonic force threatens Azeroth.
