Character Full Name: Svelexinne (pronounced Z'vella-sheen)

Character In-Game Name: Svelexinne

Nickname(s): previously known as Vella, but now she's usually too impersonal for something silly like a nickname. It's possible for someone to earn the privilege, but it would be very rare.

Race: Draenei

Class: Death Knight (blood), formerly a paladin

Age: roughly 20,000

Sex: Female

Hair: Slick black, long and close to her head. Falls a little past her shoulderblades.

Eyes: glowing blue

Weight: 213 lbs

Height: 7'

Appearance

Her skin is quite dark- a sort of dark charcoal gray. She blushes a dark purple although in her current state this is a rare sight. She is not quite undead, but neither is she fully alive. She fell in battle and was immediately raised, so her body did die (with some nasty wounds, in fact). Think of it as being declared clinically dead and then being shocked back to life, only with a really morbid twist. She -should- have died, but the Scourge didn't let her. Her injuries have mostly healed, but because of her body's odd physiology, she has an awful time healing new wounds. It takes her between two and five times as long to heal as a normal living Draenei.

Personality

In life, Vella was a loving, supportive defender of the light. Now she is weary, numb and impersonal. She is highly loyal to the Ebon Blade, identifying more with her peers there than with any living race, even her own. If she is ever seen truly comfortable and social, it will be in the company of other Death Knights. She operates with a kind of grudging honor. She knows from experience that not everyone plays by the rules and that doing so can often be a distinct disadvantage, but she is determined to uphold righteousness as much as she can. After being forced to commit so many horrific deeds under Scourge control, she feels a need to atone for her sins. She has lost much of her patience and naivete and so can sometimes be irritable around the living. She hates what she has become and in a sense she would love to die and get it over with, but she sees this as a cowardly and irresponsible way to react to her experiences. To put it another way, she takes the DK adage 'suffer well' to heart. She is what she is, and she is going to do the best she can with what she's been dealt. She has a tendency to succumb to the thirst for violence when she becomes very upset. This usually goes badly for her. She can't feel pain and so her body tends to get torn up pretty badly when she fights. It's not unusual for her to have to recuperate for a long time following such an episode.

History

Vella was born during the flight from Argus. She was encouraged by her parents to enter paladin training, which she did. She enjoyed it very much and even helped to train new initiates once she had become proficient enough to do so. She wholly supported and looked forward to the army of light that she believed she was helping to build. When the Draenei settled on Draenor, Vella participated in exploration of the planet and defense of her settlement. Life went well and fairly uneventful until the Legion caught up with them. Defense was hopeless; escape was the only option. The Draenei tumbled onto Azeroth and attempted to make their way in the new world. They associated with the Alliance faction and many of the Draenei paladins including Vella were drafted into the conflict in the Plaguelands. Vella confidently marched off to fight the Scourge. She relished the new sense of purpose and gladly performed anything that was asked of her. She took dangerous assignments regularly and treated each day as a new adventure. In her leisure time she told stories about the journey to Azeroth and counseled others in the ways of the light. On one unremarkable scouting assignment, Vella was ambushed by a Scourge raiding party. A number of ghouls took advantage of the dusty atmosphere and jumped her from behind. They tore into her flesh as she struggled. The last thing she saw was the terrifying figure of a necromancer looming over her and growling something she could barely make out.

"Yes, you will serve well..."

Svellexinne was fully conscious during her time under the Lich King. She was raised, broken and bleeding, and her first assignment as a Death Knight was to hunt down and slaughter any scouts she could find, just as she had been killed. She saw Draenei, humans and others she knew beg for their lives and then die at her own hands. The Scourge seemed particularly proud of its Draenei servants, the essance of honor corrupted into abomination. Svellexinne and others like her were given unusually heinous tasks. She watched everything witin her own mind but was powerless to stay her blade.

After Light's Hope, Svellexinne collapsed into shock. She remained silent for weeks. She refuses to speak of any events that occurred while she served the Scourge. She has only recently started to venture back out into society and attempt to right the wrongs she feels responsible for.
