Personality

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Cognus, like most Gnomes, is inquisitive. He actively pursues knowledge in his chosen fields of psychological and physical therapy and vies for a cure to leprosy. Since he has grown comfortable in his use of Fel he has grown more comfortable with associating with people outside of the Alliance and holds very little racial prejudice. Cognus considers himself to be serving a much higher good despite his use of less scrupulous and more eldritch magics.

History

Cognus was born in Gnomeregan and named after his father, Sigmus Ctenoid, who was a steam warrior noted for having very stylish hair thanks to a certain invention of his. Though Cognus loved his father he sought to distinguish himself from him, thus Cognus trained to become a technomage and answered to his middle name. Cognus' studies were well and the family had plenty of money as Sigmus was often hired for mercenary work. In this time Cognus first dabbled in Fel, and though he liked the power it presented to him he found it unstable and felt it best to leave it alone. In this time Cognus, Sigmus, and Cognus' mother would live peacefully in Gnomeregan where they would learn and invent. Cognus eventually got the notion he could learn the most if he learned of the mind first, which led to him inventing the Phrenoscope, which could put its victims into a hypnotic state based off of optical tricks.

When the Second War came Sigmus left the house to fight against Orcs. In this time Cognus took the head of the house and would eventually marry a wife of his own. Cognus and his family lived happily until the fall of Gnomeregan, Sigmus and his wife, Cognus' mother were not so fortunate to make it out alive. Cognus and his wife made it out, but his wife died of leprosy shortly after. Cognus was also afflicted with leprosy but to a lesser degree. His new found weakness proved too overbearing for him to concentrate on using the proper amount of arcane to keep his prosthetic hand moving and Cognus soon found himself lumbering when he moved. This weakness caused Cognus succumb to Fel use, which he actually found much more beneficial than he would have expected. Cognus soon found that with use of Fel he could walk at a regular pace and move his prosthetic somewhat, thus he decided that Fel was a key to curing the Gnomes of leprosy, which is his the main focus of his travels.
