Personality

Alignment: Neutral Good

Shadanda is arrogant, without being confident. All his life he's had a slight inferiority complex, and has deep insecurities about himself, though of course he'd never word them to anyone. He is highly sensitive to others' opinions of him and will take criticism or praise to heart. He tries to always maintain a front of being cocksure, and has firm beliefs in honesty, bravery, and purity. Ironically, he's one of the minority of Kaldorei that drink alcohol, but that's due to spending too much time alone.

He's quite xenophobic to non-Kaldorei. He believes that the Night Elves are superior in every way to all other races, and will take any challenge of that belief seriously. He supports the leaders of his people fervently, and so treats all alliance races with dignity and manners, though he personally holds no respect for them. To the races of the Horde he has an almost apathetic view, except for the Orcs. He hates the Orcish race for their trespasses into Ashenvale and the death of Cenarius at their hands.

Through and through, Shadanda's a born soldier. Had he been born a female, the ranks of the Sentinels would have been lucky to take him in. He follows orders to the letter if given them by a superior, and trusts in his leaders to make judgments for him. While relatively intelligent, he does not question the ethics of a given order, as he believes that whoever commands him has more information at their disposal to make a sound judgment. He'd make a terrible leader, as his arrogance and self-loathing would undoubtedly lead him to give mixed orders and be indecisive.

History

Born to Alatorias Leafblade and Mara'thorei Tidesong, Shadanda had an unfortunate childhood. He had a twin, Doldoroth, and the rarity of a twin birth among Kaldorei meant that the event was celebrated joyously in the tiny village in Ashenvale in which they lived. His father was a gifted carpenter, and his mother was a Priestess of the Moon in the village temple. Shadanda's misfortune began when his mother, Mara'thorei, led an expedition to a newly established Satyr colony near to the village. The expedition was slaughered and their possessions taken. His father, unable to cope with the grief of the loss of his mate, abandoned Shadanda and his twin sister in an orphanage in 7296 BDP.

Shadanda and Doldoroth were an unhappy pair in the orphanage. They often sang together, wordless laments of their departed parents. A matron remarked that they had not heard such harrowing music since the coming of the Demons, and so they were baptized with a last name, Demonsong. The years passed to centuries and Shadanda and Doldoroth entered adulthood. Doldoroth was taller than Shadanda, giving him a slight inferiority complex. This was heightened when his sister joined the Sentinels, while he could not be trained as a Druid because of his eye color. He became apprenticed to a skinner, but loathed his work. He was however, a gifted hunter. He could occasionally hit a deer from seventy yards with his bow.

The millenia passed slowly and steadily in Ashenvale. Doldoroth rose in rank within the Sentinels and Shadanda continued in his work. He joined bands of militia whenever he could, normally to help chase off local satyr or, once every few hundred years, a wandering great predator that needed a large team to take down. He loved the thrill of the fight, but was bound by ancient customs to be refused entry to the Sentinels. 5,637 years ago, his twin Doldoroth mated with a Kaldorei called Harfurias Duskrunner and bore a child, little Fala'thorei. Shadanda wanted to find a mate himself, but no-one he knew appealed to him.

Autumn led to Winter which led to Spring and Summer for centuries. The peaceful slumber of the druids was a mystery to Shadanda, who spent his days hunting, skinning, cleaning and tanning for millenia. His twin sister, Doldoroth, was killed in an ambush by Satyrs while out on patrol in 3,545 BDP. Shadanda came to the realization that he may well die alone. He lost sleep at night hoping and praying to Elune for that which he sought. The ache in his heart for someone to love was soon sated. In 3407 BDP, Shadanda was making a delivery to Astranaar when he met his future mate. Adore'dal Bloomfeather. Her name felt like a song on his lips when he spoke it. She was a priestess and a healer, helping to mend an injured hippogryph when he first came across her. After courting for some time, they fell hopelessly in love, and in the end conceived a child.

Bel'thanas Demonsong was born to them a year later, and Shadanda became a father. Though he had lost his family, he had created a new one of his own. He and Adore'dal loved their daughter with all their hearts, and they were very protective, rarely leaving her by herself throughout her childhood years. She became rebellious throughout her early adulthood, and though it pained Shadanda and Adore'dal greatly, they eventually decided that it would be best for their daughter to go to Astranaar and be trained as a Priestess. The parting left a void within Shadanda, but he knew it was not forever and so was at ease.

Just over a thousand years later, war came to Kalimdor for the first time in millenia. Adore'dal was killed by an Orcish raid group in southern Ashenvale as she tried to heal her fallen kin. News of the death woke a burning passion within Shadanda, and he spent the next few weeks training in the militia, eager to be sent to spill some Orc blood in revenge. He was not a great fighter, but his wrath was almost impossible to sate with his grief so near. He fought in the militia in the Battle of Mount Hyjal, and lost his right eye to a skeletal archer's arrow and fell unconscious. By the time he woke, he was mortal.

After the war he went in search of his daughter, who he had not seen for a few months. When he reached the temple she was serving in, he discovered that she had heard the news of her mother's death and departed, wanting to make her way to the human lands and see the sights and sounds of the southern Eastern Kingdoms. He went in pursuit, but he could not find her wherever he looked. Her trail was always easy to follow, as this was still only six months after the end of the war and Night Elves were still a rare sight within the Eastern Kingdoms. But despite of the accounts of her travels he heard from innkeepers and the like, he always seemed to be one step behind her. She seemed to have been venturing Northwards, and once she reached the newly-named Plaguelands, her trail vanished altogether.

Shadanda returned to Ashenvale in grief. Though the last thing he wanted to do was abandon his daughter, he did not have the skill as a warrior to venture into lands filled with danger and hope to return alive and intact. He could no longer work as a hunter because of the loss of his eye, but the Sentinels were now training males to fight, and he had saved enough gold to pay for training and equipment. Nowadays, he's seeking work all across the world to hone his fighting skills. He plans to try and pick up his daughter's trail, but after two years it may be difficult to pick up the pieces of his shattered life.

After a brief spell enlisted with the Oathkeepers, Shadanda joined the Argent Crusade, under Commander Duncan. He hopes that he'll run into his daughter at some point while he's stationed in Northrend or the Plaguelands.
