History

Rynn was born to Paladin father by the name of Tiberius Marxin Whitescroll and a seamstress, one Laura Threadwicker. They were obviously married for love, as neither was particularly wealth or well off, though Laura was the poorer of the two. Tiberius served as a Paladin for many years, but rarely fought in any serious battles other than the very rare occasions when the Defias grew bold enough to attack a settlement or outpost. In times of war he was always sent with a group that worked as support, so the threat was diminished as compared to the infantry and other front line battalions.

Laura worked in Old Town for almost her whole life, coming from a long line of seamstresses. She did however move into Tiberius' house in the Trade district, which adversely improved her business. While life was looking up financially, all the worldly gains were tainted with bitterness, for Tiberius, when he was not stationed at outpost or away on patrol, was constantly asked to report to the Cathedral for prayer and services or training which was often held near the Command Center, so he was able to spend little time with Laura which pained him all the more since they were parents-to-be.

Rynn was born without his father present, Tiberius being posted elsewhere at the time, and so a representative of the church who was a close friend of Tiberius and therefore named his godfather came to comfort the laboring mother. As Laura held the soiled infant in her arms, she named him Rynn Tiberius Whitescroll after his father. As she held the child, her face wet with tears and sweat, she died. After a time of morning, the church representative covered the child with a wool shawl, cradled him, and took him back to his house. His own wife had given birth only a month ago to girl and would be able to nurse Rynn while he watched over him until Tiberius returned.

Seven weeks later the church presided over the official funeral of Laura Whitescroll upon Tiberius' arrival, though she was buried sometime before. Tiberius wept as his heart was swallowed by grief, becoming less sociable to all but his son and his son's godfather, who was still looking after Rynn until he no longer need milk, and until his father accepted the loss of his lover. This time did not come quickly however, and when Rynn began eating solids, it was agreed between the Tiberius and his friend that he was not yet fit to raise a child. Though Tiberius wept many nights and seldom enjoyed the little quirks of life, he found great joy when he went to spend time with his son, which was very often, every day sometimes for weeks on end. He would reinforce what his son was learning from the church and from school, and talk for hours about how beautiful his mother was and how happy she was when they learned that they would be parents, though often he was talking more to himself then the child.

Rynn grew up with what he had come to call his sister, her name being Kera after her grandmother. They developed a bond that only siblings can, and like all children fantasized about fantastic adventures and pretended to hunt great monsters that they read about in the books at schools. The two went to church rather often, as Rynn's godfather was also a Paladin. Rynn loved his father's visits, and would ask his father if he could come live with him, but the answer was always, "Not yet son, I have to work", while in fact his assignments had come sparsely as he had since become more of a liability due to his recklessness and lack of conviction.

Rynn excelled in his studies learning of history and strategies with some effort. When it came time to begin his apprenticeship as a Paladin, Rynn refused, saying that so much responsibility is what kept his father from being there for him ,nd his mother before him for long periods of time. Tiberius was not happy at his choice, but was unable to think of a valid argument, as his bitter side thought it made perfect sense. Rynn opted for priesthood instead, as most of their duties pertained to the church, and thus his teachings would be more or less local.

Just under a year later, his father was summoned to combat the spread of some-sort of hellish disease, the Humans using every possible resource available to them. His father never returned, and after hearing the stories of some of the survivors, he hoped his father had fled or died in battle at the hands of some opportunistic bandits far from the plague. Rynn might have never recovered if not for Kera, who was likewise faced with her fathers death under similar circumstances. They mourned together, and thus became each others deepest supporter, as Kera help Rynn surpass his classmates in healing, as she herself was learning to become a physician.

Rynn was deeply saddened when he learned that his further training was to be carried out at the Northshire Abbey and that the two would be separated, but Kera assured him that it wasn't that far, and that she'd try to come see him when ever she could. She did mange to visit him twice, but soon her visits stopped as she traveled abroad to continue her studies with a more proficient teacher, Rynn has not seen her since.

He finished his studies pertaining to the light and shadow, but lacks experience and conviction to do little more than heal and cast basic self protection spells. He has slight insecurity issues and gets particularly nervous around women of a similar age. He has a thirst to prove himself and is seeking someone or some organization to teach him further of the powers of the Light and It's limitations.
