Skills and Abilities

  • Silver tongue: With many years of traveling, particularly in goblin towns, he has picked up a few 'way with words'. Learning to keep his cool in many situations have helped him stay alive.
  • Gentleman: Over years of chivalry being drilled into his head, Rydel has a generous about of manners and respect to the races. This is especially true when any of the people happen to be female. Almost like a bad habit, Rydel will make a note to compliment someone even on their worst day. Due to this, Rydel is often mistaken for a complete flirt.
  • Survivalist: Spending most of his time on the road or out in the woods, he has learned many things on food collecting, traps, and tree climbing. Also from being a Farstrider for most of his life, he is rather accurate with his bow.
  • Sword and Dagger: From living in a house full of knights and active fighters, Rydel has learned to use a sword effectively. Just recently he has taken on a dagger in his off hand as well to make the most out of his close combat skills. Though, this is still not as effective as his archery skills.

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: On his travels or his everyday life he can be seen in a brown outfit that is mixed between leathers and light metals. It consists of a hood that usually covers his face and a cloak that covers the right side of his body. The cloak is made out of a dense fur that is dark enough to match the armor of his. He is usually never seen without this armor and usually takes pride to wear it.

If you do not see him in any of the leather that he keeps on him. His casual clothing would be a loose shirt that is buttoned to show part of his chest and a pair of nice slacks to go with it. Even outside of his armor he never looks like a bum.

Personality

Rydel's personality is usually dictated by the way he lives his life, care free, Rydel is very calm and laid back preferring to take the easy route to things other then the harder route. This also shows in his view of the other races. While he will not think twice on killing an Alliance that is on Horde territory, he wouldn't think to raise a weapon against them on neutral grounds, unless they attacked first

Rydel in a public setting is very polite and honest, almost too polite, not many can ever see something on the man other than a smile. He does take his interest into the female gender of the races more than males because he finds them more interesting to talk to. He is still polite to the males, but he just isn't that talkative toward them.

Alignment: Neutral Good

History

Rydel Flamerunner, born five hundred years ago to a house of warriors and mages. The Flamerunner house wasn't a noble house, but it was a big house and one of the notable houses they were known in their skills of sword art and skills in Evocation. The head of the house's name, Rylindor Flamerunner, was a warrior that showed his skill through his sword and spear. A tall man with with notable long black hair, a main dominant feature of the houses males. Rylindor's wife, Alaina Flamerunner, was a Magi that was dominant in pyromancy. She was rather short compared to her companion but still sported the silky black hair. Both lead the their house honestly and proudly raising five children.

Four of the five children, two daughters and two sons, all grew up like spitting images of their parents. The fifth one, Rydel Flamerunner, was much different, he grew to be a little shorter then his family and his hair was not black but copper. This was a problem to Rydel for much of his youth due to his brothers picking on him constantly because he looked different from the rest, but their father had stepped in and made them stop. As they grew up, Rydel's brothers and sisters all learned the arcane magic and how to use a sword just to see which one they were better at. Rydel was no different, he learned the same thing and was the one the other siblings wanted to spar against. He soon grew a close bond fighting with his brothers and sisters, it really helped in his years of training.

Over the years Rydel mastered the sword and his magic, but he didn't feel complete with it, he wanted something more, something that fit his calling. That calling happened when he was walking through the forest and almost had an arrow pin his head to a tree.

A man by the name of Deriek Silverarrow was the one that had shot the arrow. Rydel was scared to death at first, his head was almost taken off until he realized that he did walk into the mans training area. After Rydel was done apologizing to Deriek for trespassing, he began asking the archer about the bow and if he would teach Rydel how to use it. Deriek agreed as long as Rydel's parents consented.

A year. That is how long it took for Rydel to finally convince his parents to let him learn archery. But finally his training had begun, he soon learned that the man was actually a Ranger and that he was looking for someone to pass his knowledge onto. Rydel was just lucky enough to stick his head in the right place. So over the next hundred years or so, Rydel learned his skills as an archer and a survivalist. Much of the training was hard, due to the fact that his teacher always seemed down. When Rydel tried to talk to Deriek about it, his master never revealed anything to Rydel and it looked like he didn't plan to budge on the topic either. After a few confrontations about it, Rydel finally left it along and focused on his training. After his training, Rydel became a Ranger as well in honor of his mentor.

Rydel had officially finished his training and his master had given him the ranger armor that he used to wear. A couple of days later, Deriek committed suicide only leaving a letter to Rydel apologizing for leaving in such a way and that he would always be proud of Rydel. Now when asked about the armor, Rydel always states that it used to be his father's until his father had given it to him, and that is how Rydel wanted it to be because he thought of Deriek the ranger as his father in a way.

When the Second War happened, Rydel was sent out with other rangers to help out the Alliance against the orcs. During these battles, Rydel acquired the bow that he now carries on his back, he took it from an orc that broke the bow he was using. The bow now serves as Rydels main choice of weapon and has always shot true for him. After the War was over, Rydel went back home where he continued his duties as a Ranger.

Over the years nothing of interest happened, until Arthas came to Quel'thalas. Rydel helped in the battle to fight the man but with no use, they were overrun and could do nothing as Arthas destroyed their beloved Sunwell. Rydel learned that his parents had died and two of his siblings had fallen as well. He never learned the whereabouts of the other two siblings.

Rydel spend a good bit of that part helping the citizens where he could because it was just in his nature to help them, he was naturally polite. When the withdrawals hit, he began to suffer just like the rest of his kind. So naturally he took in Fel like the rest and earned the color of his eyes. Much of his life after that, he took to traveling he had realized how short life could actually be and wanted to see everything before his time had ended. So over the time, Rydel went around the world exploring and learning of different cultures changing his view of a lot of the other races and learning to accept them but also accept the boundaries that the two factions hold. Rydel also went to Northrend and assisted in defeating Arthas and then headed back to his homeland.

Rydel took the long way home, he started in booty bay and decided to live in Booty Bay as a mercenary for trade prince's and anyone willing to pay him. He stayed there all the way until Deathwing appeared and turned everything upside down, in that time, Rydel saved a panther cub that he came across while hunting in the jungle from a group of raptors. The panther was dearly wounded and Rydel took it back to his camp to mend her wounds and raised it as his companion. He named her Alia, after his sister that passed. After Alia and Rydel grew close, which wasn't long at all, they set out to explore the now changed world and to help where they can.
