Personality

Sometimes buried beneath his blueprints and mechanical inventions to realise the world around him. Has been known to go for weeks without contact with others, scribbling new designs and ideas into his scrapbook which, thanks to a friend of his, is magically enchanted to provide endless pages, no matter how many are torn away from the book.

He can be social when he wants to clear his head for a new project, often seen at local taverns having a drink. He puts his great concentration and focus to good use no matter the project/invention. He is slow to trust others, however, when it comes to his inventions.

Often many a Gnome would offer their service to him, but are pleasantly declined. Due to this nature he has learnt to do everything himself, including moving about heavy machinery, which has helped develop his strength and toughness.

History

Following in his Parents footsteps, Rivetti was well educated in the engineering discipline from a very early age. His extreme focus enabled him to complete his teachings in record time, way ahead of his peers. But thanks to his speed learning, he had very few friends his own age. He matured rather quickly, his passion for creating all things mechanical taking over nearly every facet of his life.

You could say his only friends were his mechanical pets. His Parents were somewhat worried about this, but they saw he was happy and did not wish to change that. Even with heavy workloads, Rivetti's Parents always felt more distant from their son when they watched him busy working away on a new invention, taking no notice of them whatsoever.

One day Rivetti found his scrapbook empty of blank pages, the rest were either filled in or torn away. Making his way toward the Mages district, he came across a robed Gnome smiling at him, holding a book that looked like it was glowing. The mage had thrust it toward Rivetti telling him he would no longer need to get a new book anymore. Curiously excited, he asked him why, but the mage could not hold back his own excitement at his clever use of magic and opened the book in Rivetti's hands. He then grabbed the top page and tore it out of the book, suddenly another grew from the bindings to take its place.

A wide eyed Rivetti could not believe what he saw, so he tore out the next page, and again the paper grew back. Closing the book and slipping it into his backpack he turned to face the mage, wanting to know how he could ever repay him for such a generous gift. The mage confessed that he had always wanted a pet mechanical squirrel, but any money he had went towards his magical studies. Rivetti spent the next two nights building the very best mechanical squirrel his Gnomish hands could create. After the exchange of gifts, Rivetti and the mage saw each other whenever both his studies allowed and when Rivetti wasnt busy building other inventions.

Life in Gnomeregan was peaceful, until the day the Troggs attacked and the poison gas was released. Rivetti managed to escape by use of his flying machine, which he had not yet tested. Now was as good a time as any, taking all of his personal effects with him, and most of his inventions. His Parents were working when the attack came, he never saw them again. He also received no word from the mage and whether he too survived. He probably missed his magical friend more than his own Parents. But for Rivetti, the mourning of his Parents went quickly, and in the Gnomish district of Ironforge, he began anew with greater fervour on his inventions.

He hopes one day to return to his home, but it is not a high priority on his mind, as a home is merely a place of memories, and he brought most of his with him. He hopes to travel to new places, to learn all forms of engineering he possibly can, whether from his gnomish brothers or even the goblins, he may even enjoy the adventure along the way.
