Rekka was brash, reckless, hard-headed, pugnacious, and several other similar words, none of which she could spell. A bit of an adrenaline junkie, she enjoyed a good fight from time to time (read: every chance she got), and had faith enough in her own abilities to be a touch overconfident. Her desire for excitement extended beyond the thrill of combat to include all manner of arguably insane activities, such as leaping from high cliffs without a parachute. A slow fall spell was considered to be cheating.

Since beginning her training as a blademaster and her promotion, Rekka has changed more in the past year than she has in her entire life. Gone is the crass and loud orc, as ready to throw a punch as she was an arm around your shoulders. Gone is the thrill-seeking adrenaline junkie, recklessly tossing herself into whatever situation she came across. Rekka the Wrekka is gone, and Rekka’nar Stormslayer is almost unrecognizable. She is calm and composed (mostly), able to assess situations before rushing in recklessly as she did before. She no longer throws herself into any combat, rising to any bait; she’s had a few too many close brushes with death to continue that trend. After nearly being killed by a treacherously delivered explosive, she has realized that her previous strict, optimistic code of honor had little place in the real world, and she adapted accordingly.

History

Rekka was born in one of the internment camps in southern Hillsbrad in the aftermath of the Second War. Her mother was Karta Bloodhowl; a powerful and skilled Warsong General in her prime, but frustrated and stunted in the camps. Her father was Voragh Angermaw (a fact still unknown to her), who had grown close to Karta over the years in the camps. Tragically, however, Karta was killed when Rekka was still young, protecting her daughter from a human guard who had taken a particular dislike to the pair, and Voragh was transferred to a new camp around the same time. Rekka was left mostly on her own.

Rekka was raised communally by whoever was willing to lend a hand at the moment, though such help was rare. She grew up scrappy and combative, always willing (and forced, sometimes) to fight for what she needed. Most of the human wardens were not outright cruel, only through their negligence and indifference towards their prisoners, but there were several who took a twisted pleasure in pitting the orcs against each other in pseudo-gladiatorial combat for entertainment. Rekka was a frequent and popular combatant, and her aggressiveness increased.

When the camps were broken open and the rest of the orcs freed, Rekka wasn't quite sure what to do with herself. She followed her people to Kalimdor, scavenging supplies and scraps of equipment wherever she could. She ended up spending a good deal of time in the company of several trolls after the rescue at the Darkspear Isles, after a slight 'miscommunication' about the role of women, particularly young girls like Rekka, in orcish society, which ended with several broken teeth, noses, and jaws. After the initial icebreaker, both parties reconciled their differences and became fast friends.

To her intense irritation, Rekka was too young to be allowed into the new Horde's fighting force during the Third War, barely reaching her early teen years before the exodus from Azeroth. Her repeated attempts to gain entry to the ranks of the Horde's warriors under various disguises were unfruitful and frustrating. Her troll friends instructed her in the use of spears and axes anyway, and soon Rekka's aggressiveness and strength were amplified by skill. They introduced the young orc to the bottle as well, a habit that has never quite left her.

She parted ways with her friends a few years before the construction of Orgrimmar, striking out on her own. She led a mercenary path across both continents since, fighting, drinking, learning more ways to fight, making friends and enemies, and generally entertaining herself. Throughout it all, she never found a calling that inspired her to anything more than the next fight. Eventually, tired of the unpredictability of the mercenary life, Rekka was recruited into the Deadeye Watchers, an event that would radically alter her life.

Rekka grew enamored with the power and grace of the blademasters within the Watchers’ ranks. Unused to being so thoroughly outmatched in combat, Rekka resolved to learn everything they had to teach. It took some wheedling before Daichi Windwalker decided to take her as a student, and, though her skills with a blade grew quickly, Rekka’s pride and arrogance kept her from the mindset necessary to embrace the spirits.

For several months she struggled, unwilling to bend knee to anyone, mortal and spirit alike. As such, her training stalled, unable to progress past the physical aspects. The interventions she received from those she had come to love and respect turned her world upside down, forcing her to question everything that she was and believed. It was only then that she was able to come to terms with who she was, and who she was becoming, and allowed herself to bend knee to the spirits. In those long days of reflection and turmoil, Rekka moved beyond the simple, selfish reasons she had originally justified her training with. She only now understood what it truly meant to be a blademaster, and she would do her teachers and heritage proud.

Under the tutelage of three blademasters, a warlord, and a far seer, Rekka’s knowledge and skill progression increased drastically. Training that could potentially take years she soared through in months, and her personality adjusted accordingly. No longer was she the brash, crass, aggressive girl she had once been; she was a proud, mature, and honorable warrior of the Horde. Her success in her blademaster training, coupled with the compliments of Hellscream himself, whom had witnessed her final trial, had pushed her into the Horde military proper, after working for so long with the Deadeye Watchers. With the recommendations of both Warlord Teztez and Legionnaire Sunderskull, Rekka quickly attained the title of Champion. As a blademaster, it was her responsibility to lead from the front anyway. Shortly after, Sunderskull’s retirement landed her with the responsibility of leading the Deadeye Watchers as well, pushing the fledging officer to the limits of her capabilities. She still struggles under the combined pressures of being a blademaster, a champion, and the Watcher’s battlemaster. How well she fares under the stress of leadership remains to be seen.

Skills and Abilities

Blademaster: As the name implies, Rekka has honed her weapon skills far beyond those of most warriors. Her talents with a sword are very difficult to match, though her ranged capabilities leave much to be desired.

Wind Walk: Rekka can travel on the wind for short periods of time. During such, she can move almost faster than the eye can follow.

Mirror Image: After a moment of deep meditation, Rekka can call out to the wind elements to form images of herself. They are temporary, easily dispersed, and do no damage.

Enchant Blade: Like a shaman, Rekka can call upon an element to engulf her blade. Whether it be fire, water, wind or earth, it is possible as long as she maintains favor with the element being used.

Firebrand: Though she has calmed significantly since venturing down the blademaster's path, Rekka's lust for battle and volatile temper still burn somewhere within her. She has a natural inclination for the element of fire, and can more easily attune her blade to that element than any other.

Bladestorm: Whirling about at high speeds, Rekka's blade bites into everyone about her. Wind elements add speed to the spin, causing her to move at incredibly deadly speeds.
