Ralzi Fanbolt is a 21-year-old Gnome Mage. He is played by Spiralin.

History

Born into a small family, Ralzi had two older siblings and his parents. Ralzi's father, a tinker, worked long and crazy hours. Ralzi's mother; however, worked less hours than her husband. Ralzi became closer with his mother because of this. Occasionally Ralzi's mother would read books about magicians, and magical fantasies. Ralzi would ask his mother to read these books to him, and it was around the age of six that Ralzi's love for magic began. When he began school, Ralzi would neglect listening to his teachers and instead would imagine himself off on an adventure, using magic, and saving a fair maiden. When it came to engineering tests, Ralzi barely knew how to read half the things on a schematic's page, most things he tried to create would fail. One day he had misread instructions for a fan and when he turned the machine on it began to spin out of control. Shortly after the fan-blades came loose and embedded themselves in the wall of his house, at first his family called him Fanbolt as a nickname, but eventually Ralzi took it on as a surname.

It wasn't until the age of eleven that Ralzi's life would change forever. It was a bit after the Third War had started, Gnomeregan was invaded. At the time, Ralzi was outside of his home, sent to pick up some supplies for his father. The evacuation had started, Ralzi being a child, was forced to leave instead of being allowed to go back and search for his family. It turned out that would be the last day Ralzi ever saw his mother, father, or brothers again. Ralzi ended up in Ironforge, alone, and orphaned. His life consisted of going orphanage to orphanage, the feeling of love and compassion began to leave him. Ralzi forgot what it felt like to be cared for, to be needed. Abandoned, and hateful for what the world had brought upon him, Ralzi left the orphanage behind when he was sixteen. The next two years were rough, Ralzi spent his life on the streets, performing dangerous jobs for little money. Many nights Ralzi slept where he could, homeless. Slowly, Ralzi lost weight, as well as any hope he may have been clinging on to.

One day as Ralzi was walking along the streets of Ironforge, he spotted a dwarf plastering a poster onto a nearby wall. After closer inspection, Ralzi could see the word "magic" printed across the top of the parchment. Drawing his attention, Ralzi made his way over to get a closer look, what he found would change his life. The paper spoke about a school of magic that was located in Shattrath City. Yet, the most important detail was that the school was free. Instantly, Ralzi knew this was possibly his last glimpse of hope. Soon he made contact with one of the magi and was brought to Shattrath City to study at the Aula Arcanum. It was then that Ralzi met people of all different backgrounds, and learned that you can't judge a book by its cover. While staying with the Aula Arcanum, Ralzi was taken care of. He was able to make friends with those who were interested in magic. In return for this blessing, Ralzi devoted his time to show his appreciation to the Headmaster. During his stay with the Aula Arcanum, Ralzi had forgotten about his troubles and became a rather kind person. This would not last forever.

Overtime the Aula Arcanum grew smaller, students stopped showing up, and teachers were beginning to vanish. One day Ralzi had shown up for class and the school was gone altogether. It was rough for Ralzi, he had even searched for a while, but eventually was kicked out of the Scryer's Tier due to his lack of money. Eventually Ralzi found his way to the Lower City, where all of poverty tend to end up. It was hard down there, Ralzi was constantly harassed and bullied because of his diminutive size. Ralzi had realized he came full circle again, his hopes were built up only to be abandoned. Twice, this had happened to Ralzi within his lifetime. He suffered immensely, not only physically, but mentally. Everyday Ralzi would wake up wishing he hadn't. One day, he had enough. Ralzi ascended to the second floor of an old building and jumped. However, fate had other plans, Ralzi was only knocked unconscious from the fall. When he awoke within the infirmary, Ralzi was greeted by draenei.

Ralzi spent the next few months recovering at the infirmary. Nearly everyday the same few draenei would show up as volunteers, and soon Ralzi would call them friends. He spent nearly everyday with them, even learning a small bit of draenei in the process. They helped Ralzi become well, he was even able to share some of his sadness with them. Their kindness brought Ralzi back, slowly he was able to find joy in life and looked forward to seeing his friends everyday. Inevitably, the day came when Ralzi and the draenei had to part ways. This time Ralzi didn't see it as being abandoned, but an opportunity to go on his way and help others as the draenei did for him. After it was all said and done Ralzi started to help around the Lower City, made a few friends, and even gained a bit of a reputation. Those who used to mock Ralzi became a bit nicer towards him, and from time to time would even share a bit of food with him.

After quite a bit of time it appeared that karma would pay Ralzi a visit. One day while Ralzi was meandering around the Lower City he ran into a blood elf, Challace. When Ralzi had found out she was planning to volunteer at the infirmary, Ralzi shared that he volunteers often as well. Overtime the pair became good friends. Ralzi had even told Challace about how he ended up stuck in Shattrath City. A few days later Challace would surprise Ralzi by giving him enough money to return to Azeroth. After a bit of convincing Ralzi finally accepted the gift from Challace. Coincidentally, it had been exactly two years since Ralzi had arrived in Shattrath City. After a few tear-filled goodbyes, Ralzi returned to Azeroth, ready to take whatever the world had ready to throw at him.

Personality

Alignment: Neutral Good

Ralzi has been homeless for the majority of his existence, because of this he has learned to appreciate the kind gestures of others, and return them with his own. Unfortunately, because Ralzi doesn't have any real supportive figures in his life, he struggles to keep himself happy. Every now and then Ralzi will dwell too long on the past, causing what little confidence he has, to dampen. This boils down to Ralzi having his ups and down like most people, but tends to have a harder time getting out of the downs than the ups.

Having a hard time staying happy is not Ralzi's only trouble. Not trusting others comes just as natural, not because he holds any grudges, but simply out of fear. Losing his family, and having to flee from Gnomeregan for his life, has molded Ralzi into being a very cautious person. Constantly hearing tales of war while wandering the streets of Ironforge, instilled a permanent fear of confrontation. Because of this, fighting is the absolute last resort for him. It takes all the courage Ralzi can muster to inflict harm on another being, and the incredible amount of guilt he feels afterward takes a toll on Ralzi. Often he can be found meditating after any kind of extreme confrontation.

Even though he's quite small, Ralzi has confronted and bested many obstacles in his life. Ranging from poverty, loss of loved ones, all the way down to surviving a suicide attempt. Being able to still wake up everyday, Ralzi has gained a sense of accomplishment and pride. He knows what it's like to be at the worst, and now strives to feel what it's like to be the best.
