Personality

Orin is a very intelligent man, and on occasion he takes his fascination with knowledge to borderline an obsession. He is a staunch elitist from Dalaran and believes that all mages who were not trained in Dalaran make mockery of the arcane arts and need to be instructed properly. Despite this he is a fair judge of most others, tending to stick with the classic human views of the other races. He is against the idea of the corrupted Blood Elves being allowed into the Kirin Tor, and as such has a particularly large bone to pick with their race. Orin is also fairly eager to teach, he likes passing on his knowledge, or perhaps it is just that he likes showing off his knowledge to the lesser informed populace. He also has a bit of an obsession with obtaining artifacts, trinkets, baubles, and items with magical properties, though this is likely from his Kirin Tor training experience. He complains a lot about how the higher ups want to keep him from going anywhere, though if this is actually the case or if he is exaggerating no one could say.

History

Orin was born in Dalaran to a family of mages, and from the start he was exposed to the arcane arts, as a result it was only natural that he would train to become a mage himself, devoting much of his childhood to his studies, though he did manage to get pulled away from his books now and again. Through his teenage years he spent much time abusing what arcane knowledge he could get his hands on to create small fires, polymorph pets, and all sorts of boyhood pranks, it wasn't until he reached the age of nineteen or so that he calmed down and settled into serious studies.

He apprenticed to a member of the Kirin Tor and after enough rigorous studying and training he was finally admitted to the Dalaran University for studies in which he majored in a degree with spellblades, followed by a course on higher battle magic. He continued to taking course after course until much to his disappointment he realized his coffers were completely dry, his thirst for knowledge was perhaps too heavy. Thus he managed to weasel himself into a lowly cataloging job with the arcane vaults. This managed to fund his research for a while and soon enough he had managed to accumulate enough courses to satisfy his curiosity, from there he went off to meet a man named Krutz, a colleague of his in the cataloging of arcane sources, though back then they only met once a month to discuss recent developments.

He had developed ambitions to become a member of the Kirin Tor, and due to a bit of a fluke discovery during an archeological dig in the Eastern Kingdoms he was inducted into the order of mages. From there he continued to do his work with cataloging, though he had picked up a job with the Dalaran vaults, working with the Archivists in the tedious and intriguing job of registering the numerous items within the vaults. However his career was cut short with the Scourge attack upon Dalaran. He participated in the war, though he was forced to flee along with the rest of the surviving mages when it became apparent Dalaran was going to fall.

It would be a city of ruins that he would return to, in which he spent many years with his comrades repairing the city until the day where the final ritual took place and the city was lifted into the skies, teleported over Northrend to become the new mage capital of Azeroth. Conveniently he met up with Krutz again after the disaster, and the colleagues became partners in their work, traveling Azeroth in search of artifacts to catalog with the Kirin Tor archives. Though, this has left Orin somewhat frustrated, while his ambitions led him to try and join the ranks of the Arch-mages, he has repeatedly been shrugged off, given ‘prestigious' tasks which amounted to nothing, while his work is credited to the Archmage he works under. Thus leaving Orin as a grunt mage, with a bleak career future ahead of him. Perhaps one day he will finally be allowed into the upper ranks, then again, it's all the more likely he will spend his days running the grunt work for the Chief Archivist, depressing? Perhaps, but then again, he gets first pickings for the artifacts uncovered, and a chance to perform his experiments with his long term colleague Krutz, before drinking the night away and ranting about their dead end jobs.
