Cultural reasons.)

Appearance

Onka, in leisure, seems very fond of protective leathers... typically from something she's killed and skinned herself, though it is not beyond her to purchase clothing when she has spare gold. For purposes of battle, she gravitates heavily toward plate. Because of this, many are never aware she is a female Orc. Often seen armored and helmed, speaking in a grunt when speaking at all... it doesn't particularly matter to most other races.

Other: Onka has a voice which she manually lowers to a growl or grunt. That is to say, it lacks the proper gruff quality for a warrior of her caliber. In her own oppinion. Typically then, she does not speak...or just grunts at people. Or when she does, it is a low tone. By no means does she have some stunningly enchanting voice (She's. An. Orc.) but it is naturally on the smoother side.

Orcs, as a culture, would have nothing against this. Concentrating more of efficiency and purpose than artistic favor doesn't mean they'd shun something so meaningless as a light voice. They simply wouldn't care. it is Onka who cares, wishing her voice were more like her father's.

Personality

If ever an Orc has shouted 'For the Horde' and meant it, they likely taught the young Onka to do the call justice. Onka loves her people, loves their pride as a race, loves their honor and loves their history. Many would presume their history is a shame---some take it as a shame. Onka believes the hardships beset upon the Orcs, and their continuing will to thrive, is testament to reason for great pride amongst her kind.

That said, do not talk badly about Orcs around Onka. (This doesn't mean someone just saying 'Oi, Orcs are smelleh...' is going to make her rage. Most things she can overlook, disregarding the one who said it. But a SERIOUSLY leveled insult at her people---what they are, not some superficial judgment---or allies will not elicit a calm response.) She is young, she is full of zeal and energy. And aggression.

It is most likely the time spent in internment camps which fuels most of her habits. She feels it necessary to let everyone know that the Orc do, and will always, remain strong. Stronger than everyone else, if they really want to ask for specifics. She is an Orc uberpatriot, shamelessly so. These things aside, the other driving force to her personality is what might be called insecurity. Her family history does not quite align to her current behaviors...

History

There was infancy. There was war in her childhood. Then there were the camps. She remembers them, and she remembers---over a loathing for humans that her young mind couldn't fully appreciate the breadth of---her father. Her mother she cannot recall. Either she was dead and gone by Onka's first memories, or for some reason did not want a part with raising this daughter.

Onka was born with blue eyes... and her father was a Shaman. Perhaps Onka very much took after her mother, even without being raised by her...the inconsistencies with her father's personality surely stem from something. Perhaps genetics. She watched her father in the internment camps, watched because her people never crumbled entirely. Watched because the Shaman kept them standing, watched because it was strength in a form Onka did not entirely understand.

Her father was not small. He was a solid green, he was seven feet or more, he was massive. Thick arms etched with wounds, many recent in each of Onka's memories. She watched him cow to the enforced order of humans by far smaller than he. She watched as many Orc of her father's size were cut down---likely because of their sheer capacity to cause havoc if they rebelled and bloodlust claimed them. She knew her father had capacity for bloodlust. She'd seen it, triggered in her defense.

It was that day, when he spoke regret for falling to a bloodlust, that she decided she'd fight for the Orcs. In any case, she watched him. Watched as, rather than use the obvious strength of his body, he used another strength entirely to strive in upholding his people.

When finally they were free of the camps, Onka was alone. It is uncertain just what happened to her father, but he did not emerge from the camps. Rather than turn to Shamanism in his honor, though... she grew angry. The merit of gentler guiding (more akin to Thrall) was obvious... they'd survived, after all. But she could not help but have an anger fester within... her father, who could have so crushed so many of their oppressors, did not.

He was valorous, he was a hero to those he'd kept strong. One of many, but a hero. Who would sing his song? No one, of course. She knew from him that they were from a very small clan that, all things considered, was just part of the Frostwolf now. She knew of no other direct kin. No one cared. But those who were brought down with the blood of opponents as decor for their prone forms... they were sung about with intensity.

In a youthful and frustrated decision, she has decided to do this, then. Show all the strength of her father, the strength of their kind, through herself. He chose to put aside physical prowess, because it was necessary to aid in preserving their race. Now, their race is preserved.

Now, physical prowess has a place. Now, she can fight. This makes her current state and history very simple. She will show care to which cause she fights for--- but with so little driving her aside from a need to, in her mind, use the strength her father never got the chance to, she is very likely to throw all she has into that cause.

[Notes: Onka is capable of a muted bloodlust. Muted as in it could either just be a very angry Onka, or true bloodlust. Difficult to tell. Onka's mother was a warrior of some kind, and avoided her child due to her father being a Shaman and their child being born with blue eyes. Onka's eyes have paled over time---but the cultural disposition that blue eyes mean greatness was apparently enough (coupled with a shaman father) for her mother to step out. Onka is not looked upon as a 'greatness hopeful' in any regard. Most don't know her eyes are blue, since it takes close inspection. Fewer still know, due to her behavior, that she was sired by a Shaman.

If anything, Onka is a great prospect for a nature vs nurture dispute. Parentage and genetic markers would set her up to be something great---she is not. She's a frustrated, axe wielding warrior and will most likely die that way.]
