Personality

Nicolai is a man who respects and honors the teachings of the Naaru and the Prophet Velen. And as a Draenei, it is family that matters most to him. Defense of what is left of the Draenei people is paramount to Nicolai's thought process. Of course, he can still enjoy a good drink or two with those who are close to him. Regardless of their corruption and return to old ways, Nicolai harbors a hatred for the orcish people. For the majority of the species and races of humanoids upon Azeroth, Nicolai views as children almost, and he will openly admit it.

History

Nicolai was born within the crystal halls of Oshu'gun during the exodus from Argus exactly seven thousand years ago before the arrival of the Orcs on Azeroth. Nicolai was the second son in his family, the first born being Lyov, and the third being Vladimir. The age difference between Lyov and Nicolai was approximately two thousand years apart, while the age difference between Vladimir and Nicolai was only spanning less than a thousand years difference. Nicolai's family had a long tradition of warriors; his father and mother both were Vindicators. It was only natural that he had taken up this call as well as was ordained from a young age.

Vladimir, however, had a much different calling and was chosen to be a holy-man. However, this did not stop the two young Draenei from being apart. Whereas Lyov looked upon Nicolai as simply a younger brother meant to be protected, Nicolai and Vladimir had a much closer relationship and were quite literally the best of friends, learning and teaching from each other. Nicolai and Vladimir both had learned much from the teachings of the Prophet and the Naaru.

Oshu'gun would eventually crash land upon Draenor when the Draenei were still young, and it was at this time that Nicolai had taken the call of the vindicator. He was of age and no longer considered just a simple adult and thus he had begun to learn from Lyov and his father the martial prowess of a soldier. For a time they had lived in relative peace with the shamanistic orcs that were native to Draenor; and so things were good for a time. Peace and prosperity was what the Draenei race had come to know for a change, no longer were they able to flee, and no longer were there any need to.

When Kil'jaeden made his pact with the apprentice of Ner'zhul, Gul'dan, and began to corrupt the shamanistic values of the orcish clans; Nicolai was within the city of Telmor with his priestly brother, Vladimir, when the first assault of the orc clans came against the hidden city. Nicolai watched with horror as Vladimir had asked for peace and received only butchery. And it was from this moment that Nicolai had ever experienced true hatred for anything in his life. Though he managed to escape the butchery and slaughter of Telmor through cowardly actions, he would never forgive himself or the orcish race to this day.

As the newly found Orcish Horde rampaged across Draenor and committed mass genocide against the Draenei people, Nicolai would swear vengeance yet was easily forced into hiding with his family and the remaining Draenei people into the mysterious Zangarmarsh. It was during this time he licked his wounds and brooding his hate until the day when the Prophet deemed it was the time to make the raid on the dimensional ship, Exodar, and flee the shattered planet. He experienced another type of hate against Kael'Thas's Blood Elves that butchered the Draenei people during their flight and were responsible for the sabotage of the Exodar during its dimensional jump which caused the crash landing on Azeroth.

Nicolai and his family had survived the crash landing on Azeroth and were overwhelmed with reverence and respect for the races that had defeated the Legion time and time again upon the relatively small world. For approximately two years he remained on Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isles in service to his people. His Father and Mother both have taken residence in the Exodar. Eventually Lyov returned from a trip to Stormwind and spoke to Nicolai of the wonder of this world, and so the two set out.
