Her most precious item would be her silver-threaded pants, given to her as a gift from an elf friend.

Personality

Given her history, Maya is an independent person and she is used to taking care of herself. Always aware of things that happen around her keeping her ear out for any rumours that might help her in any way. On a first look upon her she seems to be a distant person not wanting to get involved into anything but a closer look would show fear of doing so and awareness. Still, the few friends she has are truly friends and she trusts them with her life. Of all the races out there she is most sympathetic to the elves. Ever since she met their race, she is drawn to their beautiful language and ways.

History

Maya was born during the troubled times of the Second War but far away from it, in the jungles of the Stranglethorn Vale. For unknown reasons to her she was abandoned when she was too young to even understand it and she grew up to the age of 7 with the hunters in the vale. A rough life considering that when most men were out on a hunt, it was up for the women to defend the camps from various attacks.

Soon after her 7th birthday, she was taken in the middle of the night by bandits raiding the camp for goods, had a mask tied over her head and when she finally got to see light again, she was standing in a cold, damp cave with supplies and crates all around her. Surprisingly, the bandits treated her well for a captive and took it upon themselves to teach her knowledge and train her in the ways of subtlety and combat. They never revealed their true identity and for ten long years she never saw the light of day, for when they took her with them outside it was always in the middle of the night.

She did not know what they were training her for but by the way they were treating her, she suspected they would trust her soon with something big. One day she woke up to the sounds of battle and screams. The bandits were all either killed or driven away from the cave and the attackers, whom she recognised as simple farmers released her thinking she was held captive. Deciding it would be better not to tell them, she played along. When she stepped out of the cave for the first time during the day and walked with the villagers she saw the endless rich fields of Westfall.

This place was now her home, she was offered a place to sleep in one of the farmer's houses as long as she helped in the fields and it was in that period when she developed her stamina and gained a small profit for herself. Her new home laid deep into the Dagger Hills close to the sea, where she stopped by on the shore from time to time and gazed upon the horizon wondering what is out there. When there was time, she would walk along the hills to the eastern river and swim down on it until she reached the dense forests of Stranglethorn. Her new skills helped her around the vale and soon she knew the place well.

One day on her 22nd year she met two elves in the jungle. It was the first time she ever laid her eyes on the elves, for most her knowledge of the world out there came from the dozens of books she read. She found new friends where she was not expecting to and helped the elves around the vale with food and her knowledge of the surroundings. She did not get to spend much time with them for she soon received a strange letter with a seal of Ravenholdt calling her to a meeting in a far place she did not know of, called Hillsbrad. Soon she gathered what she needed for the journey and went to Stormwind hoping she would find one to guide her towards her goal.

That is where she met another elf by the name of Sindar Greenpaw. He helped her get to the Ravenholdt Manor for it seems that he knew that area well and then they parted ways. For a long period, she assisted the Ravenholdt organization with their war against the Syndicate but then she was called back to Westfall to help with the recent uprising of the Defias gang. Once there, she met Sindar again, fighting his way out of a cave that was supposed to hold the meeting place of 3 important Defias leaders. They spent half a year together and Maya grew to admire the elf for troubling himself with the plagues of the human lands instead of defending his own homeland.

One day, Maya wanted to show her gratitude towards her new friend and she travelled to Darnassus where she met him surprised. He was happy that her human friend was interested in helping the elves and for one whole year she aided them in dealing with the orcs and the agents of the burning legion that were ravaging the forests of Ashenvale. Upon departure towards the Easter Kingdoms, Sindar gave Maya two gifts: a necklace with a small green stone that was shining a pale green light and a pair of silver-threaded pants, proudly crafted by the elves of the forest.

She is now considered a good friend of the elves and still helps them with various minor tasks but mostly with studies of animal and plant life in the Eastern Kingdoms.

Death

One of Maya's latest adventures managed to eventually overcome both her agility and awareness. Thus, she fell victim to the conflicts between the mischievous Cult of the Forgotten Shadow and the careless paladins of the Holy Light. Her phisical body was damaged beyond redemption.
