Appearance

For special occasions or for battle he wears plate or mail armor, some form of Alliance-representing tabard, and a long cloak generally. In everyday life, when he's not training or fighting or anything, Matt wears normal Human civilian clothes.

Personality

Matt possesses most of the traits every good Paladin should have. He is kind and courteous to others as long as they aren't enemies of his people. He is physically strong, but not stupid. He is devout towards the Light and would not dream of wavering from the Three Virtues. All Matt wants is to destroy all evil, find someone to marry, maybe have a couple kids, and settle down for the rest of a perfect life (Reclaiming Lordaeron is up there too). These are lofty goals, yes, but that never stopped anybody from wishing before.

So far, he sounds like the average young Human Paladin, right? That is correct. Matt is... Average. Normal. Human. Obviously, he's not infallible, but failing to remain on the Light's good side and losing his powers is one of Matt's greatest fears. The next greatest would be having everyone close to him suddenly die, of course, as he tries not to be selfish most of the time.

To others of the Alliance, Matt tries to be as friendly, helpful, and outgoing as he can. He's made friends this way, but there are very few people he truly confides in. As for the races of the Horde, Matt tries to tell himself that they are not purely evil and that they are people to, but of course he hates them for what they've done in the past, and he is certainly not very comfortable around the Horde races, especially Forsaken.

History

Matthew Kielan was born in the nation of Lordaeron's famous Capital City to a moderately wealthy family. His father was a respected officer in Lordaeron's military who had only just converted to being one of the new Priest-Warrior hybrids known as "Paladins" in the new order known as the Knights of the Silver Hand, and his mother had close blood ties to one of the noble families in the area. The timing of Matthew's birth, of course, was the worst timing imaginable. It was while his father and the rest of the newly forged Alliance army was fighting Orcs on Capital City's doorstep and the citizens were crowding the church and other "safe" areas, to be exact.

Fortunately, both of Matt's parents and the city they were in all survived that battle, and that war. Matt was able to have a nice, structured childhood learning grammar, arithmetic, manners, religion, and a bit of swordplay with wooden weapons. The child's dream was to grow up to be a great war hero and fight monstrous green Orcs like his father did, and this dream was greatly encouraged by said father. Matt's mother, on the other hand, wanted to groom the boy to be a perfect politician and insinuate their mildly respected line into Lordaeron's House of Nobles.

Studies, except for swordplay and the Light, grew boring to Matt over time. His sole focus now was to As a teenager, Matt ended his academic schooling and began to train exclusively in learning to fight. Luckily (or not) for the aspiring Silver Hand knight, another war was brewing. Matt, at the age of 15, was not yet a Paladin, but he was assigned to be a squire for one of the senior Paladins. His job was mainly to polish armor and retrieve lost weapons, but it was Matt's first experience near a battlefield and it was very exciting for the squire. Exciting until the news that the Knights of the Silver Hand had been disbanded and Matt was sent home to sit on his hands for the rest of the war, that is. The rest of the war being up until Matt and his family fled Lordaeron to go south.

In Stormwind, after the Third War had finally ended, Matt and his father were both still devastated by the loss of their order and their country, while his mother was only devastated by the loss of most of their money and power. While the Silver Hand no longer existed, Matt and his father continued to study as Paladins and help those in need around their new city. With Paladin training came maturity and adulthood, and Matt stayed in and around Stormwind to defend the strongest remaining Human nation against the many threats to it and its inhabitants. His father soon retired to a quiet life in Stormwind, along with his wife, who still is not content with her life.

Soon enough, the remnants of the Silver Hand realized they didn't have to be disbanded again and reformed. Matt joined the order again in order to continue his training and continue to fight the threats to his new home along with the other Silver Hand paladins.

After the second Scourge invasion and the mass exodus of Azeroth's armies to Northrend, Matt decided to expand his horizons beyond the city. While he didn't consider himself skilled enough yet to join the Alliance forces in Northrend, Matt did replace those who had moved from other dangerous lands to travel north with the armies. Westfall, Duskwood, and Redridge all needed attention. Matt even went as far as Booty Bay a few times.

Soon enough, Matt had reasons to travel north, but not as far as Northrend. The Paladin did not arrive in Stromgarde until the city had been retaken, but he had reason to stay anyway. He fought in the Arathi Wars, mainly against the powerful Sin'sholai forces, and continued to train and fight alongside the Paladin order known as the Lambent Sovereignty, though he never officially joined them.

After Arathi was secured for the Alliance, Matt stayed in Stromgarde for a while to continue to study in the largely Paladin populated city, where he continues to live. Soon, though, Matt decided he was skilled enough to start fighting in more difficult and important battlegrounds, such as Northrend.
