Personality

Loud and proud, two words that describe Sir Marian Bainbridge. Of course, this man is never short for speech and has a tendency to flex his repertoire of words with a charming bossy air to them. Orders are his favorite sort of sentences to vocalize.

Old Sir Mary loves himself some Alliance. His dreams have only ever been in the best interests of his beloved city of Stormwind though, and as such he has a few grudges against Theramore and the rest of the western Alliance nations.

Every now and again Mary may eek out a few words of wisdom to the young, but otherwise he is fairly set in his ways of bossing ‘youngins' about.

History

Marian was born in Stormwind and raised in Stormwind. His father was an ‘artisan' who crafted fine pottery for the wealthy of the city and a major part of Mary's young life was spent by his father in an attempt to sway his son away from heroic dreams and into a potters life. A wasted effort, by Mr. Bainbridge as Marian finally joined the military instead on his seventeenth birthday.

Life in the army was nothing like Marian had ever anticipated and upon his inception into the ranks the man was challenged terribly by conforming to this new way of life. Hardened, however, by a fear of quitting and returning to pottery, Marian stuck to the militia like glue and fought his way straight out of the awkward phase and into a comfortable new lifestyle.

After many years of toil and hurt in the militia Marian finally achieved some sort of solid standing and renowned by shear dumb luck of all things. It was the first war, just before the fall of Stormwind and Marian's unit had suffered a particularly crushing blow from the orcs when in one fel swoop the enemy jumped from their cover and ambushed the humans that consisted of Marian's brothers in arms. All but three lucky men survived the attack and Marian was one of them. The trick to Old Mary's survival was not military know how or combat prowess but an ill mannered horse which upon the sight of charging Orcs reared back so far that it fell over itself. The beast wound up falling atop Marian and instead of killing the rider, who was hidden beneath the horse, the Orcs slew the mare and went about their business of slaughtering alliance troops.

Later, one of Marian's fellow survivors reported for the group that they had fought until the bitter end and finally won away from the Orcs in a brilliantly executed retreat. For this false bravery in battle and facade of strategy Marian and the other two soldiers where knighted and given shiny medals to pin on their uniforms. This award is a slight bone of regret in old Marian but none the less he still flaunts the title of knight to this day to anyone he meets.

After retiring from Alliance Military in his old age, Marian found that his heart was still set on the army and always would be. Today he still bares his uniform with pride and has even taken up with a new militia.
