Personality

The six years that have passed since being released from Scourge control have been rough on Malaclypse's integration into society. Service throughout the entirety of the siege on the Frozen Throne reinforced the gnome's sense of mechaniality and purposelessness outside of a war machine. A few year's worth of vagrancy has helped to shape the gnome into something resembling a civilian, but nature dies hard.

Alignment: True Neutral

History

Upon hearing "Death Knight", one would typically picture a hulking figure clad in massive armors, but small packages can be deceptive.

Born to the city of Lordaeron on his mother's last breath, the gnome Mekkel was mistaken for a newborn dwarf and adopted into the life of a labor farmhand in western Tirisfal. Unfortunately for his foster parents, their anticipated load-bearing worker turned out to be a frail pony of a child, barely able to carry its own weight. Unable to provide for a non-contributor, the family turned Mekkel out on his way, giving him just enough provisions to survive.

A few years of vagrancy and petty thievery repeatedly set Mekkel outside town of Andorhal, makeshift shelter carved into a tree and unsecured supplies readily available just inside town. When the plague hit, the young gnome was able to make a quick escape south. Youth clouded decision-making for the gnome and caused the lucky delusion to avoid all humans and escape to Dun Morogh.

As the years passed, so did Mekkel's fear of the plaguelands. Years cooped up in the cavernous homeland of the Dwarves invoked adventure and homesickness for the young gnome. Setting out to see what had become of his old home, Mekkel went north.

The ruins of Andorhal were a sad sight for Mekkel, but the young gnome understood why it had happened. Despite his understanding of the circumstances of Andorhal's fall, the gnome lacked a sense of danger and snuck into the town in hopes of easy looting. He was spotted soon after setting foot into the town limits and was chased eastward, narrowly escaping by hiding in the root of a tall mushroom in which the young gnome hid for a full day before succumbing to fungal disease.

After his preserved corpse was carved out of the fungus, Mekkel was raised into something greater than a typical corpse. The disease had caused all of the gnome's blood to coagulate, but the rapid fungal growth had preserved the gnome's body. The circumstances had given special consideration into death knight conversion.

In the days leading up to the siege on Hope's Light, Mekkel - reborn as nameless as his fellow aspirants and earning the name "Malaclypse" though a combination of his old name and the gnome's tendency to be "eclipsed" when hiding - displayed excellence in subtlety and dexterity, rather than the physical prowess that was typically expected of death knight aspirants. The circumstances surrounding his death had also lent expertise in blood manipulation, hemomancy becoming a focus area of study for the aspirant. This stealthy skillset aided greatly in the destruction of Havenshire and New Avalon, and later on would go on to help in the infiltration of Icecrown Citadel. During the war on the The Lich King, Malaclypse's stealthiness helped greatly in covert operations.

In the years following The Lich King's fall, though, Malaclypse suffered from the same loss of purpose as his family-in-arms, and went on to help in the retaking of Andorhal before taking on a vagrant's life.

The cataclysm shattered many things, and conflict had arisen once again. Malaclypse goes from place to place seeking usefulness in the one thing he knows best - infiltration.

Skills and Abilities

Dying from a blood-coagulating disease has gave Malaclypse both a unique bodily condition and a special attention while studying in The Ebon Hold. Malaclypse holds a deep connection with his own blood, being able to alter the mass of his blood cells, and by extension his body. He is also able to control the concentration and movement of the blood within his body. The disease that had killed him lingers however, and transferring his blood into another being gets them down with the sickness. The disease is not the only thing Mal retained from life, though. Living a life of thievery and infiltration stuck with the gnome. The gnome uses his hemomancy in conjunction with his natural sneaking skills to stay extra sneaky.
