Appearance

Cheesey faux Swashbuckler attire. "Dangerous Dan" prides himself on being the best pirate salesman around.

Personality

Flamboyant, loud, fast, quick, very in-your-face. Dan is a fast talking jive slopping eccentric businessman draped in cheesey Swashbuckling attire. His moral compass is completely broken, as Dan's main method of earning his wealth is by scheming the not-so-intelligent base of his customers. The man should never be trusted under any circumstances, or else you'll find yourself signing your life away in trying to pay off a loan that has a 40% interest rate. In any sort of combat situation, though, Jason is a true yellow bellied coward. His only response towards many things is to simply run away. Quickly.

Those that know of him in the Cartel will find that he's a very laid back, lazy person. When not donning his "Dangerous Dan" eccentric business-pirate attitude towards potential customers, one would find this man casually counting his coins or lazily laying back. Many will know Dan to be a very anti-dramatic person, preferring to keep out of other people's business and remaining generally indifferent towards everything that doesn't directly affect his own personal safety or profit.

Other: Dangerous Dan is a very shady salesman. Those who don't pay attention to the fine print of his deals will probably find themselves in steep debts that they couldn't foresee. Dan's tricksy form of business is the only reason why he's been able to survive so long on his own, and as such is the only real skill he possesses.

History

Jason Legaro was an average boy in an average kingdom during a not so average time. Being born and raised in Stormwind, the boy always believed his fate was just to be another unseen brick in the wall. He never had any real aspirations or big thirsts for adventure. Jason always believed in just doing what he needed to do in order to get by, and that's what he set himself on doing. By his early adult years Jason had enlisted as a Guardsman in the Stormwind Military. He didn't think anything would really happen with that sort of job. Maybe beat up a brigand, swat away a Defias, or help a noble girl find her pet kitten.

But then his regiment was unexpectedly called for battle. Battle on the Arathi Basin. Poor Jason had always slacked in his training and held virtually no skill in close combat. His plan to just easily coast by in life as a low-ranking guard had completely failed. On the front lines of the battle every other soldier could hear the man shake in his armor at the thought of crossing swords with the fearsome orcs. Not wanting to even risk the chance of having his torso cleaved in half by a giant orc axe, Jason immediately ran away once his regiment approached the front lines. No one was able to find him in the ensuing chaos that the battle had wrought, but the Kingdom did take note of it and marked him as an abandoner.

After throwing off his tabard and running as far from damn near everything that he could, Jason found himself....out in the middle of nowhere. Without anything. Only thing he had was a few military rations, a sword, a shield, his armor, and his wits. Fearing what the Alliance, Horde, and wilderness would do to him, he decided to keep running. Knowing that he would probably have to serve some harsh time behind bars or possible execution should the Alliance discover him, Jason underwent a radical change in his identity. He decided to operate under the new name of "Dan", ditching his military armor for more sailor-oriented attire. He constructed a completely new past for himself, telling others that he was a fierce swashbuckler of untamed seas.

Night after night he boasted in nearby taverns under his new alias. Tales of him wrestling with Naga Myrmidons, riding on Sea Serpents, blowing up ships, and making love to beautiful elven sea princesses were told on a nightly basis. This is what made Jason earn two things. A compulsive liar personality trait, and the nick name "Dangerous Dan". It wasn't long before Jason's lies were so grand, constructed, and elaborately told that even the man himself began to believe in them. But, as with most things in life, Jason's lies eventually caught up with him.

Despite having a fast-talking silver tongue that could belch out lies that easily fooled the local tavern dwelling nobody, when faced against real pirates Jason found himself caught in a very bad pickle. When a few Blackwater Raiders decided to call the man out on his blatant BS, Jason squirmed in trying to find an easy way out in order to avoid physical violence on himself along with public embarrassment. He failed. The pirates ended up dragging the poor liar towards a shady location, and promptly began to kick every metaphoric substance they could out of him. Bruised, bloody, and desperate, Jason belched out an hour-long pity story and grovelled on his knees for mercy. The man's speech crafting skills were put to a hard test, and by some divine miracle (or perhaps the pirates just didn't want to hear him ramble on anymore), they decided to spare Jason's life in an agreement.

He would join the Blackwaters and use his silver-tongue lying abilities to be salesman of whatever goods they needed to sell. Thus "Dangerous Dan" went from being a legendary badass scoundrel of the seas to another sleazy faux-pirate salesman on the streets of the Steamwheedle Cartel.

From the next 6 years to the current present, Jason has been running "Dangerous Dan's Discount Docks" while located in Booty Bay. While life in a real pirate town has definitely been dangerous enough to make the man soil himself on more than one occasion, associating with Goblin peddlers and every member of every race has given Jason a truly fine mercantile ability. Most of the time his customers will find themselves signing contracts filled with small lettering that outright exploit them for all their worth...but that's honestly something that ought to be expected in a Goblin town. It hasn't come back to bother Jason. Yet.
