Appearance

Loose-fitting generally dark-colored robes for the most part. Gloves are a must. Laranor can be seen in lab coats, especially when working. He makes it a point to stock his pockets with mechanical pencils whenever possible, in spite of the fact that he has difficulty writing.

Other:Aside from being a gaunt, thin and pale individual, Laranor's hands are disfigured, moving them producing an amount of pain. They're blackened, the skin thickened and cracked up to his elbows. This obviously means that he can't wield weaponry, and can barely hold up a cup of tea, having trouble with dressing and such. In spite of him currently undergoing treatment, they'll still take years, if not decades to recover, and even then it's uncertain.

Personality

A quirky, yet usually happy individual, Laranor delights in finding out the meaningful and the meaningless things in life. A scientist's mind and a therapist's heart in his possession, Laranor enjoys helping others overcome their issues, as well as teaching whatever magical theory he still remembers. Recently, Laranor has developed a liking for tea, due to a coworker, and has also learned to swim, thanks to forced dunks in Eversong's many ponds, courtesy of his current employer.

As far as dislikes go, Laranor is an adaptable person, generally fitting his views to those of the people around him. He is adept enough in diplomacy that he doesn't normally offend his peers. As far as races go, he can tolerate the majority of them. He dislikes most of the Alliance races, save the Draenei, and has the same opinion for the Horde, save the Forsaken, which he finds fascinating.

Laranor is a pacifist at heart, he generally tries avoiding conflict, a fact somewhat contradicted by his mischievous approach to things. He keeps an action figure of a certain Shattered Sun commander nearby his person.

History

Born of the union between a Magistrix and a Priest, Laranor's childhood was an odd one. Between blank stares at intricately composed symbols and pestering his parents with all sorts of nutty questions, the more ridiculous the better, Laranor was an inquisitive anklebiter.

Growing up, Laranor's studies included the Arcane, a field in which he never practiced, in spite of knowing the theory, and the mind – a subject which greatly interested Laranor, in his quest to figure out just how people's minds work. His studies as far as the psyche was concerned took prevalence, whereas the theoretical approach to Arcane grew to a second place.

During the course of the following decades, Laranor's interest in the mind would become his profession, as he ended up working as a therapist towards the soldiers that'd seen the Second War that came home to Quel'thalas. He also taught Arcane theory, in an effort to make ends meet, as his primary profession didn't really bring him as much an income as he expected.

With the coming of the Scourge, Laranor's life changed quite a bit. After barely surviving the invasion, he drained a Fel-crystal, becoming a Blood Elf, alongside the rest of his people. He and his cousin Lural, left for the Undercity after the Third War, eager to know more about the Forgotten Shadow and how it would affect minds, and after some coercion and negotiation, he was able to study there.

It wouldn't take very long until he'd leave, though, returning to Silvermoon just in time to join Kael'thas' troops as they were leaving for Outland, offering his expertise in the mental arts to the Prince's troops, as well as his theoretical knowledge of the Arcane. Whether he was useful or a nuisance is debatable, but for some reason things like the odd Fel-guard running about a war camp screaming that all it wants is a hug were present wherever Laranor was, all until a portion of Kael'thas' troops were sent to besiege Shattrath, under the guiding hand of Voren'thal the Seer. He was among them.

As Voren'thal's troops laid down their arms at the main bridge of Shattrath, and pledged themselves to the Naaru of the Sha'tar, so did Laranor, smiling quite brightly, seemingly delighted by the turn of events. As a part of the Scryers, Laranor was in charge of the majority of apprentices, when he wasn't counseling or giving therapy or the like.

He was content, for the most part, and remained so for the next few years, until after the death of the Lich King. Partway between tiredness, carelessness and desire, he committed a crime towards one of the Apprentices in his charge, a fact for which he was exiled from Shattrath. Wandering the wastes of Outland eventually led him to the Netherstorm, where he met the very same people that had found his crime and exposed him as the culprit.

Out of a desire to clear his name, Laranor pledged himself to aiding them in a moment of need, though an accident near Mana-forge - a discharge - corrupted his hands with large amounts of Arcane energy, mutating them horribly in a way in which could not be healed by forces such as the Light. Struck unconscious by the surge, Laranor was rushed to Silvermoon, and placed in the care of a Thani Deepriver, one of the few non-magical doctors in the city. Since then, he's been working at Deepriver Labs – A private clinic and research station – as a therapist, helping the elves overcome their problems, playing with action figures, and drinking copious amounts of tea, thanks to coworker Teremun Surus'ilamar.
