History

Thirty-nine years ago, on a cool, serene evening in a small town called Goldshire, the crying of a newborn baby could be heard. A cloaked figure walked carefully to the house the noise came from and peeked into the window. Inside Markus and Irene smiled down at their blue-eyed child with brown hair. Irene caught a glimpse of the woman at the window and winked at her before looking back to the baby. “Let’s call her Larah.”

At a young age of ten, Larah discovered her talent for magic and quickly started to explore it under the watchful eye of her mother, a sorceress, who later became Larah’s mentor. Larah was the only one in her family without brown eyes.

She excelled in her studies of frost magic at the age of twelve and could already master spells which older students had trouble with.

When she was thirteen years old she started her training in basic fire magic. Conjuring a ball of fire was an effortless task. “Look Alice,” she said excitedly to her friend one day, “I can move the fire around! You just have to..” Sadly things does not always go as planned.

On that day Larah did not only wound her best friend she so dearly loved, she also left a scar in her own heart that would overwhelm her with fear every time she tries to cast another fire spell.

In the same year of the accident both the First War started. Both of her parents got killed. Larah was scared and hid in the house.

That night a cloaked figure entered Larah's room. It removed its hood and a woman with kind eyes looked upon Larah. “Come with me, child. I am a friend of you mother. You are not alone anymore.”

Thus began Larah’s adventure. The mysterious woman introduced herself as Aldriel Mistweaver, a sorceress like Larah’s mother, as well an old friend. They fled north to the Hillsbrad Foothills where Aldriel started to teach Larah about the offensive potential of frost magic.

Years after intense practice, Larah dyed her hair white and decided travel to Northrend where she would master frost magic with the resources of the Kirin Tor. Before Larah’s departure, Aldriel gave her a long staff with three blue gems set in it. “This staff belonged to your mother, Larah. It has been in your family for many generations. May it guide your magic.”

With these words of farewell, Larah left Hillsbrad. Her travels took her through Northrend where she met frost mages like herself. Their ways of using frost for survival fascinated her and so she began learning frost from a new perspective, broadening her knowledge.

For many years she studied from a wide range of cultures and their ways in utilizing frost magic. Feeling she has accomplished her dream of mastering this magic she returned to Goldshire.
