Personality

Kyramu is a rude, quick to anger and impulsive of a draenei. Much of her personality reminds more a goblin much more than it does a draenei, especially given how selfish she has became. Naturally, there are limits in which this goes. Night Elf and Draenei, specifically, get treated in a much different way than an orc, a goblin or a blood elf for example. Kyramu has long forgiven the orcs for what they have done under the demonic influence, but still feels unconfortable when around them. Blood elves are all the same, she lost her mother due to the sabotage on Exodar.

To better explain her selfishness, Kyramu isn't exactly one who just cares about herself and that's it. If someone truly needed her help and they had no means of paying for it - or if they were in dire need such as a life or death situation, Kyramu would in fact be willing to help. Now, if someone who's obviously comfortable in economical terms requires her help, she wouldn't hesitate to ask for a hefty amount of coin and refuse to help if there was no pay in the end.

History

7498 years ago, in one of the many planets the Draenei visited briefly while fleeing, a draenei by the name of Kyramu was born to a pair of caring parents.

As a child, Kyramu didn't stand out as anything spectacular. She led a simple life, simple as constantly fleeing from the Burning Legion was. Still, young Kyramu was an extremely shy draenei. Perhaps, it was the manner her father explained about the Burning Legion to her, which made her more interested in studying by herself with the innocent intent of one day, being strong enough to stop them by herself. An odd belief for such a young draenei, of course- but what was more surprising, however, was the fact that she managed to find many old books around and, if her father not took them away because they were in fact not hers, and returned them to the legitimate owner, she'd have learned a thing or two from it.

That didn't stop her from practicing what little she learned, however. Her father like many draenei, had gemcrafting as hobby and profession. Occasionally, Kyramu would sneakly take one of his gems and use the extremely limited knowledge of enchanting to infuse them with it for the mere purpose of making them glow blue. Once again, though, after about five tries her father decided to give the young girl a scold. The reason wasn't her practice of magic, but rather, the curious habit of taking without asking. Naturally, the man took a different course of action with his daughter; he'd talk about the Light and the Naaru with her. Needless to say, Kyramu knew what both were, she grew up learning about it, but what the man truly wanted to say is that he desired that she became a Vindicator. Kyramu's mother fully supported the idea, desiring to see her daughter a defender of her kind.

At the time, Kyramu was actually glad with the idea. Becoming a Vindicator ultimately meant wielding the Light and using it against the Burning Legion at some point. It meant becoming a warrior for her kind and carrying on with the innocent childish dream Kyramu had. Yet, this was only in theory. In practice, while Kyramu could pass most of the physical tests and, within a couple of hundred of years, was already an able fighter she never truly understood how to effectively use the Light. Her father thought that she had a strange disability, as it was nearly impossible for a Draenei - a being of Light - to be incapable of using the Light itself. It was nearly... shameful.

The answer was simple, however. Kyramu wasn't managing because she never believed in her capabilities. In fact, after learning more about the Naaru and the Light, she became entirely sure that she wasn't fitting for it and that she'd never manage to wield it, like many of her kind. This somewhat broken emotional state led her to eventually give up her many attempts. Kyramu became a fairly somber Draenei at this point. The Burning Legion, the constantly fleeing, her... being incapable and unable to wield the Light and lastly her mother telling her that she had to try harder more than her father did. She nearly felt into a state of depression, considering herself a failure.

Luckily, her kind finally found certain peace: Draenor, homeland of the orcs. A beautiful land and surely, this raised Kyramu's spirit. For some time, the shy girl kept herself to her kind's settlements, occupying herself with books which she had read at least a thousand of times in all these years. It took at least two hundred of years for her to finally venture further into the lands and closer to the orc's settlements and it was just in that exact day that she came across an enlightening motivation: An older, experienced looking orc sparred with a much younger looking one. Kyramu watched them for hours, and through these hours, the younger orc was easily knocked down many and many times, sufficient for the Draenei to lose count. Eventually, however, the younger orc managed to best the more experienced one and in an amazing display of determination and persistence, knocked the older orc down.

That made Kyramu think. And the more she thought about it, the more she regretted giving up so easily. At that very day, she began training once again. this time deciding to use a shield so she could protect her kind. The refreshed young draenei managed to make it into the title of Vindicator. This brought immense happiness to her father and her mother as well, both were extremely content with their daughter's effort. When Kyramu's father told her to become one, many years ago, it wasn't because he wanted his daughter to be powerful, no. All he desired, was that she became disciplined and educated. For the following hundreds of years, Kyramu would only patrol the peaceful lands, often venturing slightly further than supposed. She caught one or two words of the orcish dialect between these patrols, but not sufficient to engage into conversation with one, as tempting as it was - given how curious she was about the greenskinned kind.

The unexpected thing came, however. In a blood rage, the orcs turned against the Draenei abruptly and attacked them with the purpose of killing, or rather, eradicating them all. Kyramu wasn't certain of what happened, but she lost the Light after watching many of her kind being cleaved and mauled to death, while she barely could help them. For a moment, Kyramu loathed the Light for failing her, while at the same time loathing herself for losing all her confidence. Whatever the reason was, it nearly cost her life. Without the Light, all Kyramu had was her armor, her shield and her sword in her hands. Fighting off the orcs was extremely difficult and in one of the many battles she fought that day, Kyramu nearly lost her right eye or even worse, her life. Luck or the skills she developed through the training saved her from a severe wound, instead only giving a memorable scar to mark the young draenei with her failure for the rest of eternity.

Only Light knew how Kyramu managed to survive, but she did. She and other Vindicators actually led their kind to Zangarmarsh, in order to escape the demon-raged orcs. This was their past all over again, fleeing. Kyramu didn't see her mother neither her father during the whole thing and the draenei was extremely worried about them.

With one last battle, the Draenei took upon Tempest Keep and in there, they take the Exodar and manage to flee once again. The young draenei was relieved to find both of her parents inside the Exodar, and so were they. As it keeps happening, though; relief lasted only but a limited time. The ship had been sabotaged by the Blood Elves and it crash landed onto a whole new planet: Azeroth.

Yet again, suffering, death and grief struck the draenei, as if those three things were latched onto their kind for the rest of eternity. Kyramu's mother died during the crash and the worst of it all, is that she died nearly next to Kyramu's father, who survived despite being heavily wounded. The survivors, including Kyramu herself, helped the wounded Draenei and they healed her father. Perhaps, it was the grief of losing his loved one, perhaps, it was anger against either Kyramu or the burning legion but as soon as Kyramu told him that she had lost her ability to use the Light, the man told her to never speak with him again. That utterly crushed the young draenei's emotional state, but she did as he told.

The man would regret his words a brief moment later, but Kyramu never knew. When he told her that, she began to explore on her own, getting some contact with traders and helpers from other races which aided her kind. The Night Elves were the first race Kyramu got close contact with after the crash on Azeroth and it was with them that she learned how to speak the common language, as well as much about the world, including the factions, the war and much more. Kyramu soon set off in the world, however. The draenei felt rather empty, without purpose or objective. Everything she had was taken away, in a form or another.

Soon, she found herself experiencing goblin towns for the first time. The first contact was strange, extremely so. She was disgusted by them, while at the same time, surprised that she learned so much in such a small amount of time. A single day, and she already knew an infinite amount of curse words and felt as if her common was fluent. She also learned that the many races which inhabited Azeroth were much different from the Draenei. For one, you'd always need to keep an eye open in a goblin town, else, you'd easily get something stolen away from you. That actually happened to Kyramu herself, she had her shield stolen by a pair of gnomes - yes, gnomes. An interesting kind as well, especially with their intelligence and focus on technology which was entirely new to the Draenei.

There, she learned the importance of money, as well. Coin... That seemed to be great part of Azeroth as a while, at least in the goblin's culture. She needed coin to get another shield, too. And she had absolutely no idea of how to obtain it. It was then when she was told about something known as Arena to the goblins, who seemed to be extremely content with the alien outer worldly visitor they had. They practically pushed her onto one, promising that she'd get an excellent reward in coin if she managed to win - more than enough to get herself a shield, anyway. The gullible draenei accepted and so, she fought. She managed to win two matches, relying on her old Vindicator gear and sword. The third match, however, ended with her in the ground and bleeding lips. It was yet another close-call, however, this particular match taught Kyramu something: Honor wasn't a known word in this place, everyone fought dirty.

The medical care she got - nearly as unwillingly as the fight in the arena - placed her in a bad situation: In debt with the Steamwheedle Cartel. Due to this, she was threatened and they ensured that she never left the town. With little choice, Kyramu had to spent the next three days within the goblin town. And in each day, she distanced herself more from the Light, from her kind and even from the Alliance which the Draenei had recently joined. She had little to eat, nowhere to sleep and not even clean water to drink. This, however, changed at the third day.

In the next arena event held, Kyramu entered willingly and this time, she won every single match with an immense display of skill, tenacity and even anger. She was so angered, that she nearly killed the last participant who fought against her, for this, the goblins began to call her 'mad hooves' amongst other strange nicknames. She was paid a hefty amount and a few number of goblins actually began to like her, for the few who placed bets on the draenei that day, left the arena with much more than what they had before. Before leaving the city, Kyramu disposed herself of all her gear, including the now battered Vindicator armor had been with her since the crash. She was certain that it wasn't an honorable act, but she couldn't cling to the past, at all. Without her armor, it was time to get a new one, which she ordered. The cost ended up as more than what she had, but the goblin made a deal with Kyramu; if she used the armor to fight once again, he could wait for the payment without any increased price. She agreed.

And so, when her armor was ready, Kyramu gladly wore it. The gray, dull colors of her armor reflected very well what Kyramu was; a dull, colorless being with little purpose. Little objective. Next to none, in fact. But, the third arena fight brought certain light - and not THAT kind of Light - to Kyramu's life. Once again, she won, even while getting heavily wounded in the process. More coin was given to the draenei and in result, more coin was spent at the goblin towns. Medical treatment, an enchanter's job to give Kyramu's shield a special ability, a new set of armor. This time, she carefully designed it to be effective and nice to the eyes: A full set of red armor. There wasn't any meaning behind the color this time, but there certainly was reason for the effectiveness of her armor.

The time Kyramu spent with the goblins changed her, entirely. She became rude, quick to anger and very demanding. A few years managed to make her forget thousands which she spent fleeing - managed to make her forget about what she was meant to be, about what she once was. No, she didn't became a cruel mistress or some sort of cruel killer. She became selfish instead of selfless, uncaring instead of caring and far more impulsive instead of cautious. The Draenei had learned things from all kinds of people and races, yet - these things, when you're in a goblin town, all leaned towards the chaotic side of things instead of the lawful side. Even with the shattering events beginning, Kyramu never thought about raising her blade to help the world, no. Why? It wouldn't take long for her kind to flee once again, would it? A few more hundred of years... So she'd rather enjoy a few hundred of years doing what she couldn't do before, becoming recognized. Even if it wasn't by her kind.

And so, Kyramu had purpose once again. Not a valorous purpose, but rather; she wanted to live. Without running away, without caring too much. Her father told her to turn away and leave, and that was what she did - and now, she accepted her new self entirely. She was happy with who she was, Mad Hooves or whatever she was called; a gladiator, an arena fighter, a fearsome opponent for many, a mercenary involved with the Steamwheedle Cartel. This is where her story ends and her life begins.
