Appearance

Kylan has one noticeable marking, being a black tattoo along the right side of his face. It stems from the corner of his eye, and several swirls branch from it, covering from his eye to surrounding his ear. He is often seen clad, simply, in robes. They offer him mobility in his casting, while still keeping him warm enough, and covered. His hair is jet black, and several locks drape down across his torso, with several shorter pieces tucked behind his ears. His eyes are the typical green glow of his race. His skin is fair, pale; it is not entirely white, still retaining some color. To the touch, it often feels chilled, and when he breathes, his breath occasionally condenses, regardless of the air temperature. His face is angular, somewhat sharp, with defined cheekbones and a narrow jaw. His voice is seemingly cold, almost emotionless, but it resonates like finely-tuned crystal in a deep, echoing cavern.

History

There is little remarkable in Kylan's past, few events worth mentioning. He was raised as an only child by two loving parents; his mother, a priest, and his father, a mage. They raised him with the belief that the only thing stopping someone from achieving their goals is themselves, and he took that to heart; it shaped his core philosophies and spirituality.

Personality

Kylan is a highly spiritual being. Not in the sense of a priest or paladin's spirituality; he does not worship the Light, nor does he seek to lead or guide others. He believes, simply, that the spirit of an individual, when properly nourished by that individual, may surpass its mortal bindings to ascend, freeing itself of earthly ties. He seeks spiritual enlightenment, through whatever means present themselves to him; were he to pursue one avenue adamantly, it would not offer him the broad spectrum of learning required to reach enlightenment.

Though he does not claim to know anyone's path but his own (as the only person that can know where one's journey takes them is one's self), he will gladly welcome anyone with common goals to travel with him, study with him, converse with him. He will open-mindedly befriend any who he meets, having no prejudices, no judgment toward any; good and evil, in his mind, are arbitrary concepts which only label two sides of the same coin. So long as the person is not wholly missing the experiences and opportunities laid in front of them for some frivolous end, he will accept any and all who are not blatantly disrespectful.

Kylan is generally soft-spoken, but when he does offer his comments, they are thought-out and potent in message; he wastes no time on words with little or no meaning. He believes that by shedding the mundane trappings of average life, the path to spriritual enlightenment becomes far more apparent. Though some chores are necessary, the ones that are performed without meaning need not be given a second thought. It is hard to make an enemy of Kylan, as he generally does not hold grudges. However, if one were to make their way onto his rather exclusive list, it is highly unlikely they would ever leave it.

As a mage, he spends much time in the libraries and towers of Silvermoon, and anywhere else a good read may present itself. His quest for knowledge is tied deeply into his spiritual beliefs. He may spend more time poring over spellbooks and ancient tomes then actually practicing his art, but his weavings of the flows of magic reflect his dedicated study. He also spends a fair amount of time simply wandering, wherever his impulses may take him. The more he can take in, the closer he becomes to learning all there is to learn.

Kylan is, at first, seemingly cold, and uptight. But once a person has gained his trust, he becomes rather light-hearted, and always enjoys a good laugh, especially amongst his peers. Socially, he prefers to have as many acquaintances as possible, though his closer and inner circle of friends remains more exclusive.
